- After the tribes merge, the Fans are outnumbered by the Favorites.
- With 10 players left and Ami the first favorite to go home, the game resumes. Erik, who was responsible for ratting Ami out to Ozzy and sending her home, is trying to figure out what just happened, like Boss Hogg trying to figure out how them Duke boys outsmarted him. "How in the hell am I still here? I have no idea." His ice cream scooper world has been rocked.
Malakal sits around the campfire and longs for the merge while, after the break, Airai hopes that it's Erik who has been booted.
Eliza decides that her biggest ally in the game is Jason. "I think we both annoy people, I'm not gonna lie. I think that that kind of unites us, too," she saying annoyingly.
Jason tells Eliza that he has the hidden immunity idol, not realizing that what he actually has is a stick.
Day 22
At Malakal, it's tree mail time. They're told to pack up everything and follow directions on a map.
Sensing merge, Erik tells Ozzy that he's on his side and will remain so. He describes their alliance as "kind of like a zookeeper bond. I'm more of the monkey and he's the zoo keeper now." Hopefully any future dates won't see that part.
Airai is stoked to be leaving their bad strip of beach.
Parvati says the episode title ("I'm in such a hot pickle right now") as she realizes she may have conflicting alliances.
There's the original one with James, Ozzy, Cirie and Amanda and now one with Alexis, Natalie and Amanda. Alexis - who appears to be exfoliating with sand - tell Parvati that she and Natalie will downplay their alliance to Amanda. She knows that if Parvati ditches them, they're in danger.
There is boating and squealing as the tribes meet up.
Erika is unthrilled to see Erik remains and not her closest ally Ami.
They get food and tasks: come up with a new name, flag and pick a beach. Everyone agrees on Malakal.
There's a bowl of dead bats on the table, which James has no problem eating. "How often do you get to eat a bat? It's just one of those things you have to try," he says, adding: "And it was good, like a juicy rabbit."
Erik suggests "dabu" for a tribe name, which he says is the Micronesia word for "good." They love it.
He admits that he totally made it up, proving he's not quite the mimbo he seems. "For all I care it could have been 'momo' or 'foshizzle' or something." Ah, scoopery wit.
Ozzy and Alexis cuddle and enjoy that Erik is still around. Amanda is not stoked to see her pal Ozzy cozying up to Alexis.
Ozzy is also entertained to see fan Jason trying to suck up to him, especially because Ozzy has figured out that Jason is most likely the one who has his fake idol.
Jason spends some time looking for a good hiding space for the worthless treasure.
Eliza tries to make sure her alliance with Parvati still stands and is unsettled when Parvati tells her she's not sure where things stand. Parvati enjoys Eliza's attempts to rebefriend her. Parvati and Amanda frolic in the surf and talk about their alliances as Eliza looks on mournfully from a distance. Parvati says she wants to send her home next and then tells Amanda about the alliance she has made for her with Natalie and Alexis.
Amanda is not thrilled to hear that Parvati has been making friends on her behalf. "I'm livid," Amanda says, "and it leaves me with a lot of questions about Parvati."
That'll teach girlfriend to book her social calendar without checking.
Day 24
Tree mail announces a challenge involving the word "bail."
Jason and Eliza go into the woods to conspire. He says that if he wins, he'll give her the idol in a scene that Ozzy is likely to replay many times on his DVR.
Challenge time.
Probst says that the challenge will test their ability to stay calm in a challenge that sounds suspiciously like near-drowning. They'll be standing under grates in the ocean as the tide rises, slowly robbing them of air.
35 minutes have elapsed and Amanda floats out from under the grate, claiming to have been dozing. 45 minutes goes and their ears are mostly underwater as Probst lays on the dramatic narration. Parvati bails, followed by Alexis and then Cirie, Natalie, Eliza.
At 50 minutes, Erik goes next and James, Jason and Ozzy remain. At this point they're pretty much completely submerged.
An hour has gone by and they're sticking their noses and mouths through, gasping for air. Probst calls it "a true test of who wants immunity the most," and you know, also not to drown. James bails.
Ozzy and Jason are breathing through their fists as if they were tubes of air.
Finally, Ozzy comes up red-faced and, maybe, puking a little. Jason wins individual immunity and the right to breathe again.
Parvati tells Natalie, James and Cirie that Eliza is getting voted out. Eliza sees them talking and races to Jason to get the idol. She says that their plan to vote out Ozzy will to be "the biggest blindside in history." And that it "might make me more hated than Fairplay." You've got to love a girl who can think about her TV legacy in the middle of a remote island jungle.
Back at camp, Ozzy and Alexis lay down together and jealous Amanda tells Cirie she wants Alexis out. Cirie claims to be on board.
Then, the fun stuff. Eliza looks at the "idol" and immediately knows its fake. She tries to convince Jason. "It's just a stick!"
But he says she should play it anyway. She appears to think that maybe isn't such a bad idea.
Time for Tribal Council.
Probst starts probing, asking Alexis what she has learned about her competitors. She offers an astute analysis of the three aspects to the game: mental, social and physical.
Cirie outs Alexis as being good at all three. Then Probst asks what Alexis thinks about Eliza's skills. Alexis answers in the past tense, saying that Eliza didn't play a good social game.
Ozzy and James say the way to win the game is to take somebody nobody likes to the end with you.
Parvati calls Eliza out for working against her.
Jason, feeling light on alliances, keeps the immunity necklace.
Voting time.
Eliza votes for Ozzy saying she hopes something "miraculous" happens. Parvati votes for Eliza, sounding like the head cheerleader: "It was your bad luck to pick the wrong girl to mess with. I hope you learn from your mistakes a second time around."
Jason also votes for Ozzy, saying that he hopes Eliza has the real deal.
Probst returns with the votes, asking of anyone has the hidden immunity idol. Eliza reaches for it. Ozzy starts laughing.
Probst unwraps it and states the rules about a hidden immunity idol, saying the stick in his hand is not it. Eliza outs Ozzy has having it.
Probst then throws the idol into the fire, prompting a humorous rebuttal by Ozzy, "C'mon, Jeff...That took hours to make!"
The votes are read: Eliza, Ozzy, Ozzy, Eliza, Eliza, Eliza, Eliza, Eliza.
The tribe has spoken. Eliza is voted out. "I think I did everything I could do in this game, played a fake hidden immunity idol. I can't really believe that Jason thought that stick was the real immunity idol, but I had to play it anyhow, out Ozzy for having the real one...To bad that immunity idol wasn't real, because we would have shocked them."
Yea, too bad. Now buh-bye.
