This was one of the most original shows I've watched in a long time. It's a comical take on a young conman Sanjay from today who gets transported by mistake to the Mahabharat times. He's mistaken as a great warrior come to save the kingdom of Hastinapur from it's enemies.
The characters are exceptional. There's the blind king Dhritarashtra, who's not as helpless as we'd have thought. There's a svelte and funny Gandhari, the cunning but totally incompetent Shakuni, the cross-dressed scientist, the ridiculously evil king Suryabhan and his hilarious senapati and more. Each character is comedy gold, especially Shakuni, suryaban and the senapati. And what a perfect cast!
The stories are unique and unusually large scale for a comedy. Cricket matches to settle a war, race between a rath and a car, shakuni pissing himself in fear in a hot air balloon, a court case, teleportation, cannibals, doppelgängers, dwarfs, and even a dinosaur!
The show has a unique western-Indian blend which grows on you. I actually enjoyed the later episodes more and more. The show is more a sitcom than a parody which is an interesting choice given it's unique setting.
It's a very well produced show which again is unusual in a comedy.
Though better than most, this show has a few boring episodes as well and I've docked one star because of that; but the good episodes really make up for them. I highly recommend this show. It will leave you smiling and happy.
