Leave Jason Alone!
janeortez15 November 2022
It looks visually pretty good and the music is suprisingly impressive. I know it's a fan film but I've seen a lot of other fan films that just do it better. I didn't really care for Grim's other work The Devil's Autumn so I didn't have high expectations for this one. This film lacks anything that allows it to stand out from the rest and the acting is bad.

I also CAN'T STAND this portrayal of Jason! The actor doesn't have the Jason look and it feels insulting. Look around Youtube and you will see there are better versions of Jason.

You can do better James! But you need better people around you.

Terrible Director and a Terrible Jason
horrorgeek767415 November 2022
This movie is terrible. Brandon is a good director but his co-director James Grim can't direct and needs to stop casting his friends for roles. Pamela actress was good though!

The acting is not good and the story does nothing to further the horror icon that is Jason. Because of the direction of this film, it leads to awkward scenes like a guy taking off his shirt and yelling in the woods or a dog dying off screen. You guys couldn't think of anything better......

Not a fan at all of Chad playing Jason. He doesn't have the body type nor the presence. Just not the right fit to play a horror icon.

My Special Review
z_bellzoe1 November 2022
There's no denying that Camp Crystal Lake has a dark history, one that Sean Orton tries to ignore. Despite being warned not to return to camp, Sean's desire to save the family name from him turns out to be even stronger. Sean renames the camp Trinity Pointe Camp, and with a group of friends he tries to rebuild the camp into a safe haven without trace of tragedy. But the evil that still lingers on the camp grounds has some lessons to teach them: history always repeats itself, and revenge is a dish best served cold. Despite warnings from him, he tries to save the family name from him by reopening it as Camp Trinity Pointe. He gathers a group of friends to help rebuild the camp and prevent another tragedy from occurring, but there is an evil that haunts the camp and seeks revenge.

My Special Boy, is the latest fan film to hit YouTube, following the success of the Never Hike Alone series and Voorhees.

The Worst Jason Ever!!
flegendaryreviews8 December 2022
While some fan films have risen to the the top, we unfortunately are getting more and more that are absolutely atrocious. My Special Boy being one of them. The red flags should have flown with 5 embarrassing failed campaigns. But pushed on they did. You can tell this was shot on a low budget camera with horrible sound and worse editing. The Jason in this movie is BY FAR the worst in any fund raised fan film. His costume, his size, the cartoon hood were all such an insult to the series. With films such as NHA, Jason Rising and Vengeance having their Jason looks be spot on, this just shows the lack of passion and commitment to the project. He ran like a goofy idiot who just crapped his pants. This all makes sense coming from a director who paints his nails black, wears a mask in his car alone and loves posting feminine shots of himself daily. Get over yourself and work more on your craft. Possibly the worst fan film ever. Done there with Voorhees and His Name Was Jason.

No budget? No problem.
sanctummorium29 October 2022
For fans, made by fans. If you're delving into the world of little-to-no budget, independent horror fan films, then you've come to the right place!

This was truly a phenomenal movie that gives you everything you'd want out of a Friday the 13th film while not overstating it's welcome with the relatively short runtime. And the kills are gruesome and look extremely good with the limitations at hand. The practical effects look very real, and most important of all, Jason Voorhees is just...incredible. His design is just awesome, especially with how good the mask looks in this movie. This is a movie made by devoted fans to the franchise, and boy does it pay off!

If Y'all didn't enjoy this, can you call yourself a 'Friday' fan?
polargods21 March 2023
This is the most passionate Jason fan film I've seen, the makers of it clearly are fans of the franchise and it shows.

The story and characters feel right out of the movies with some updates, (Why did Levi take off his shirt suddenly when he wanted to fight?) Chad Sumner's portrayal of Jason was very intense and some of you are complaining he's too small and skinny to play him..Yeah..remember sack headed Jason from Part 2?

He was a normal sized guy and he still was imposing and Chad did a fantastic job playing him.

Everyone else did a wonderful job as well and its a solid addition to the series.

Nothing special about this.
MikeHunt107513 November 2022
For a fan film it's executed superbly, the production team has done a great job making this and everyone behind the scenes has done great to make this seem like a genuine movie, all but two of the actors did pretty decent jobs. The two not greats where the first victim, but the second is whomever plays Jason. His mask is a mask, but the rest of his costume looks as bad as his portrayel of Jason. Either they tried to be original, or the guys never seen a F13th film in his life.

Where this movie goes compleyly wrong is that it's not a fan made sequel, it's a remake. A retelling of the 2009 version pretty much by combining part 1 as flash backs and jumping straight into the character of Jason wearing a hockey mask.

No one wanted a F13th remake then, and this movie is certainly no exception.

I'd have given it 4 stars, but the YouTube channel it's featured on is full of fake comments praising every detail of the film, which is just an insult to peoples intelligence if they think doing that is going to trick anyone into liking the movie. I haven't checked yet, but I'm sure they got the same fake reviewers to post a few here too. With that kind of low deceitful promoting scam, I will not be recommending anyone bother checking this film out. Even without the deceit, it contains bad blood FX and no entertaining kills anyway that people love about slasher films. They might have done a decent job of making it, but it's still honestly nothing you'll kick yourself for skipping.

Maybe Offering Jason Some Pizza Would Have Made Him Less Angry...
mcreynoldsavery8 November 2022
With their latest effort, writers/directors James Grim (Halloween: The Devil's Autumn) and Braden Timmons (The Haddonfield Nightmare), offer a feature-length Friday the 13th story akin to a reboot; it neither changes nor expands upon established arcs from previous entries - it's very much a simplistic picture, married to the complexities of striving to move forward whilst grappling with the ostensibly indelible stains of the past.

Just as the aforementioned directors work to rebuild the legacy of Friday the 13th, (going back to the initial premise of a grieving mother and, for all intents and purposes, a 'Special Boy'), the protagonist (portrayed by Timmons) works to rebuild he and his family's reputation, feeling to blame for the tragic and terrifying events of the past.

The story, thought up by Grim and Chad Sumner (Elias Voorhees/Jason Voorhees), takes nothing away from the original film and its sequels. In fact, My Special Boy fits decently within its legacy, with subtle references throughout. Something I'm personally appreciative of is the fact there's an actual story. Fan features are so prevalent and ubiquitous that it's admittedly difficult to tell one from the other at times, but My Special Boy is one which certainly stands out. It feels more like a character study, as opposed to a masturbatory gore gag reel.

Jason and Pamela (Gia Rose) sharing scenes is a neat idea; to Jason's mind, he could be the protagonist, avenging both he and his mother's untimely demises. Crystal Lake (now Camp Trinity Pointe) has since become Jason's home. The counselors are trespassers, people seeking to do harm to Jason. Maybe Jason believes himself to be the good guy, not some evil serial killer seeking revenge.

The acting isn't bad. I've certainly seen worse (I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, Terror Train (2022), UHF). If anything, there's scenes here and there in which some of the talent seem unsure of themselves, but there's admirable effort in performing and putting themselves into their roles.

Pacing isn't an issue as My Special Boy is edited remarkably well, and it's complimented by a good score composition and some terrific camera work. The script is pretty decent, with merely a few snags.

Overall, My Special Boy gets 10 out of 10 stars for the genuine care and effort put into every single facet of Motion Picture guerilla film making. This isn't shot like a TikTok video outside of a Spirit Halloween with some kid's dad's hockey mask; this is pure dedication to the craft. Thought has gone into location, direction, storytelling, acting, cinematography, camera movements and angles - and even costume designs. The death scenes are done well, with good makeup FX. There are moments in which Jason is portrayed similarly to what's come before, but the performance has unique moments that make it its own, which is perfect for a reboot.

Its backers should be proud of the commitment and delivery of My Special Boy. Each department truly displays effort, passion, talent, and drive, and it's precisely what mainstream Motion Picture studios ought to take into consideration whilst scoping for new talent.

Excellent
tdcraig-4689620 March 2023
This fan film is very well done. James and Braden are amazing with the films they make and I look forward to what they do next. The plot and characters were well portrayed and the film as a whole is excellent. If you watch this you will not be disappointed. This could easily be a movie that could be in theaters and contend with the other Friday the 13th films. I have watched it multiple times already and it will be one of my go to horror films for years to come. So to sum up, this movie is well written, well portrayed by the characters, and is a top contender when it come to horror fan films. Go watch it now if you haven't already. I'm.

Watch out Never Hike Alone...YOU'VE BEEN DETHRONED!
horrorduder13 November 2022
From the mind of James Grim comes a Friday The 13th fan film that actually feels like Friday The 13th. In 2017, Never Hike Alone arrived and set what is now considered the bar for what a fan film should be. In 2022, James Grim created a new bar for what a Friday The 13th fan film should be!

On a smaller budget than most Friday the 13th fan films, James and his team make this work so well. Let's talk about the acting. While Friday The 13th has never been known for it's acting, James was able to assemble a cast that definitely has chops!

PAMELA AND HER SPECIAL BOY!!

Can I just say that the dynamic with Pamela and Jason is something we've never seen before and it is executed so well. My biggest problem with it is that we didn't see more!

With likeable characters, a simple but effective story, great cinematography, phenomenal score and top notch editing. My Special Boy is the new blueprint that everyone moving forward should follow.

Hey A24...I think we found who should direct the Peacock series.

EASILY the best "Friday the 13th" fan film I've ever seen
themusicandmovieman12 November 2022
The title says it all! I had an absolute BLAST with "My Special Boy". The film had a good story, solid characters and a dialogue, and one of the greatest Jasons I've ever seen on screen! My only complaint is that I wish it was 10 minutes longer, but I digress. If you still haven't this film, it's for FREE on YouTube! Make sure to see "My Special Boy" at your earliest convenience! Also, make sure to keep an eye out for whatever this team is working on next. If this film is any indication of what they were capable of with such a small budget, thenni guarantee they will blow you out of the water with whatever comes next!

My Special Boy

My Special Boy Directed by James Grim and Braden Timmons Is a fan film that takes place I would say somewhere between the timeline Of Friday The 13th 1980 and Friday The 13th Part II Braden Timmons plays Sean Orton who decides to reopen Camp Crystal Lake under the name Camp Trinity Pointe Despite knowing the history of the campgrounds but decides to reopen it anyway I love this movie because thanks mostly to flashbacks we get to Pam Voorhees and her son Jason and get a glimpse of their relationship Chad Sumner as Jason is excellent he brings back the brutality to the character that has been desperately needed in my opinion I also love the unmasked look of Jason I think they nailed it perfectly If you're a fan of the first two Friday The 13th films I would highly recommend watching this I don't think you'll be disappointed I know I wasn't.

A Friday Fan Film, For Friday Fans
csnyder10620 March 2023
Friday the 13th has had many, many, many, many fan films over the years and to be honest, I was starting to feel burnt out on the oversaturation of Friday fan films.

So what makes My Special Boy stand out amongst the pack? James Grim and Braden Timmons have put such a breath fresh air back into this property. Its classic Friday the 13th combined with modern brutality of the 2009 version, while still being able to stand on it's own.

I really loved that this wasn't Ghost Jason, Zombie Jason, etc. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But for me personally, so many of these fan films pick up at random points in the timeline and makes things even more complicated than they need to be and it was really refreshing to go back to the roots again and start fresh with it and essentially being a brand new Part 2. Because when I think of what the Friday the 13th franchise is, I MAINLY think of the original four films. And this movie brought me right back into that era again.

It felt very much like a modern day version of the original films at Camp Crystal Lake. It felt like a Friday the 13th movie. A lot of these Friday fan films don't really feel like a Friday the 13th film in terms of atmosphere like that. Those are fine for what they are. But in a Friday fan film, I want it to actually feel as much as possible as a Friday the 13th movie. So well done on that!

I really loved what we got with this movie and I think anybody who is a fan of particularly the original four films will enjoy this as well! I just also seen some potential in areas that didn't quite reach the full potential it could have been. At the end of the day, I really think this is my personal favorite Friday the 13th fan film!

A GOOD FAN FILM!
kamerongaxiola-3130120 March 2023
This film has alot to offer for having a shoe string budget. The production team does alot with very little.

On a personal note,I believe this film is being pretty unfairly criticized. Most of the critisms incude bad acting and the that Jason is not a human tank in this film To touch on those two things, 1. We all know that this film qas made with very limited resources, to expect professional level performance is just silly and also a reach if we're being honest. Now, 2. As for Jason's size, limited recourses means you dont always get to cast the perfect actor for a role and you just have to make do with what you have at your disposal. The production team make the most of their shooting location and you can tell the team tried really hard to entertain you. Its really worth the watch. Give it a chance.
