I loved this performance from the first view online to today, when I find it possible to get a DVD copy of the performance.
I was inspired to borrow MAGNOLIA from my local library and plan to purchase my own copy.
Some songs performed by sophisticated singer-songwriters take something of the irony, humor and pathos inherent in the human condition and create an environment where the harder edge of existential angst may be tempered by poetry in song.
What I like about this performance aside from the lyrics and melody is an element of musical minimalism that allows one to enjoy the subtleties of the songwriter's craft without unnecessary amplification and electronic distortion.
Considering the fact that this performance may not get the credit it deserves from the media, I want to say here what needs to be said about an exquisite performance in an ideal setting.
As for 31 TODAY, yes, Jesus knows. Been there, done that.
