- Steel learns that Nate and Zoey have feelings for each other and tries to bring them together, despite the strict Grid Battleforce rules that forbid relationships between Power Rangers.
- Late one night at Grid Battleforce, Nate shows Ben and Betty his newly invented weapon, the Beast-X King Spin Saber. The specially designed sword will allow the rangers greater mobility in fighting, and Betty tests it. It is effective, though Betty spins it so fast that she and Ben fly up to the ceiling before crashing to the floor. They go to put it in the transporter case for the rangers to use. Steel comes in as Nate is packing up and asks him to take a look at his zord's stabilizers, but Nate says he is exhausted from working on the latest weapon all day, and offers to do it the next day. Just then Zoey finds the brothers, and shows Nate a diagnostic from her own zord, noting an anomaly. Nate immediately offers to run a full check that night, to her and Steel's surprise. As he leaves, Steel wonders aloud why Nate would stay up all evening just to fix her zord after saying he was tired, but then suddenly asks Zoey if Nate "like" likes her. Zoey awkwardly brushes the idea off as ridiculous, saying nothing could be further from her mind then dating. As she tries to leave, a magazine falls out of her backpack and Steel finds it to be a dating guide. With the cat out of the bag, Zoey admits to Steel that she and Nate both "like" like eachother. Steel is overjoyed for them, but Zoey reminds him of Battleforce regulations prohibiting inter-ranger relationships, and tells him she and Nate aren't willing to break the rules. She swears him to secrecy, and he promises not to tell, but quietly commits to finding a way to get them together.
In the city the next day, Robo Roxy finds Evox to bring him a canister of Morph-X, which he has become dependent on in order to maintain his cover as Mayor Daniels. Just has he finishes his transformation, Zoey walks past and sees them. Evox/Mayor Daniels shouts to her that Robo Roxy is trying to kidnap him, and Zoey jumps into action. She pushes Roxy back and morphs, and the two begin a fierce one-on-one fight. Zoey eventually drives Roxy back with her Jack Robbit Spin Strike, and Roxy teleports away. Evox/Daniels thanks the Yellow Ranger for her help, and Zoey wonders why Roxy was after him. At Grid Battleforce, Nate injects a micro-tracker inside Mayor Daniels so they can find him if Roxy manages to succeed in her "kidnapping" plot. Daniels is angry at this interference, but Nate assures him it might be necessary. Commander Shaw also insists on assigning two rangers to watch over the Mayor at all times, and act as undercover bodyguards. Steel volunteers Nate and Zoey for this task, and Daniel's reluctantly agrees, telling them to keep their distance. He leaves to call Scrozzle and the robots, and informs them the Rangers are tracking him now. Scrozzle warns him not to return to their base, and he orders him, Roxy, and Blaze to find a way to smuggle him more Morph-X before he runs out and transforms back into Evox while under the ranger's watch. Nate and Zoey get ready to head out, and Steel arrives with Ben and Betty, who demonstrate their own invention, clothing capsules, which dress the rangers in elegant formal wear. While impressed, they remind them that their job will be to blend in, and the siblings leave them the rest of the capsules (after accidentally dressing Steel in a pink sparkly dress of his own). Steel also gives Nate and Zoey a box of chocolates and a bouquet of roses to help them "blend in", and Nate realizes that Steel is trying to set them up on a date. Steel tells Nate he figured out they like eachother, but Zoey tells him they won't go on a date, and to stop his efforts. Steel reluctantly agrees, but still hasn't given up.
At an open air restaurant in the city park, the Mayor has a meeting with an ambassador, while Zoey watches from a garden bench. Nate brings them some ramen from one of the stands, and mentions that even though they can't be together, it's nice to spend time with one another. Zoey agrees, and they continue their watch diligently. Steel sneaks up on them from behind the bushes and grabs a stick, which he uses to knock Nate's bowl onto the ground. Figuring it fell, Zoey offers to share her own, and Steel leaves, satisfied. As they eat, they both start eating the same noodle without noticing, and suddenly come face to face. Aware of the distraction, the Mayor slips away. Staring into eachother's eyes, Zoey and Nate very nearly kiss, but Nate accidentally spills some of the noodle broth, and they both realize that the Mayor is gone. They call it in to Shaw, and go after him. Daniels meets Robo Blaze and Robo Roxy further in the gardens, but the two rangers find them before they can give him the Morph-X, and the robots retreat. Daniels is angry at the interruption, and they take him back to base.
The Mayor yells at Nate and Zoey for letting the robots get so close. Shaw says its unusual for either of the rangers to make such a mistake, and reveals that she looked up the restaurant's security cameras to find answers. She plays it in front of them and the rest of the rangers, and the footage shows their near-kiss. Devon and Ravi are shocked, and Shaw demands an explanation. Nate and Zoey admit that they've had feelings for eachother for months. The Commander is furious with them for breaking Battleforce rules, but Steel interjects and tells her the situation was his fault, and he followed them and spilled the noodles on purpose. He argues that the rule is wrong if it causes good people pain, and Ravi admits that it made himself and Roxy miserable when they were chosen to be power rangers. Daniels sternly says that rules must be followed, and leaves. Shaw orders Ravi to replace Nate as the Mayor's bodyguard, and sends him and Zoey to resume their post.
Ravi, Zoey, and the Mayor arrive to his meeting spot, and while the rangers check for trouble, Daniels calls Blaze and Roxy and orders them to get him Morph-X by whatever means necessary. The robots teleport in and use a little girl's toy crown to make a robotron, Tiaratron. The robotron ambushes Ravi and Zoey while they escort the Mayor. They morph, and alert Grid Battleforce headquarters. At the same time, a Gigadrone lands in the city. The Commander sends Devon to take it down, and sends Nate and Steel to assist the other rangers. The Red Ranger deploys in the Racer Zord's battle mode, riding the Beast-X King Zord, and confronts the giant gigadrone. Meanwhile, the Silva brothers make it to Ravi and Zoey, and take over fighting Tiaratron when Ravi starts to overheat. The Gigadrone launches smaller, flying drones which shoot at Devon. He evades them in his zord and shoots back. Zoey checks on Ravi, and he tells her to stay back and protect the Mayor as he rejoins the fight with the Gold and Silver rangers. Blaze and Roxy appear behind her and morph, and demand the Yellow Ranger "hand over" the Mayor. She refuses, and transports Nate's new Beast-X Spin Saber to fight them alone.
Ravi, Nate, and Steel finally get the upper hand on Tiaratron, and the Blue Ranger activates his Beast-X mode, finishing the robotron off with a Gorilla Slam. Zoey's fight with Blaze and Roxy leads away from the mayor and under a stadium. The evil robots overpower Zoey, and she is thrown to the ground where she demorphs, separated from the Spin Saber. Blaze and Roxy aim their blasters to kill Zoey while she is unprotected, but as they fire, Nate sprints in and stands in front of her. He is hit with three direct shots and collapses, demorphed. Zoey uses Blaze and Roxy's momentary confusion to get back to the spin saber. She hurls it spinning at them, and they are both destroyed. She runs to check on Nate, who is injured, but alive. She thanks him for saving her life, and he remarks that they make a good team. Mayor Daniels approaches and thanks them for "protecting" him. Across the city, Devon has destroyed all of the drones, and finishes off the gigadrone with the Cheetah Beast Blaster.
At GB Headquarters, Shaw watches video from Zoey's fight against the robots, as well as Nate saving her. The other rangers help Nate and Zoey back to base, and the Commander tells them she is glad everyone is safe. Nate tells her that he and Zoey have not been dating, since they don't want to jeopardize the team by breaking the rules. Shaw believes them, and says she has realized by watching them fight that they are a stronger team because of how much they care for one another. She tells them that she is repealing the rule against inter-ranger relationships, and the rangers rejoice, especially Steel. Nate and Zoel happily make plans to see a movie together as an official date. Suddenly, Mayor Daniels has a coughing fit, and runs outside. Shaw and the rangers follow him, and Devon tries to help his father. Daniels pushes him away, and transforms into Evox in front of them all. He blasts the heroes back, and menacingly warns them that although they know his secret, he will have the Morphin Grid for his own soon. He teleports away, leaving Devon in shock with the realization that Evox and his dad are in the same body.
