John David Washington and Madeleine Yuna Voyles in The Creator (2023)

Goofs

The Creator

Edit

Continuity

When the dead US Army character has his head scanned by the female commander (before putting the cartridge into the simulant lying next to him), the commander and her subordinate immediately leave. But the next time the two bodies are shown lying there, the head scanner is gone.
The two times during the movie where characters were fired upon with some rocket launcher type of weapon that stuck an explosive device to their bodies, neither noticed until it was too late, although one hit the ground after a hard impact, and the other more or less saw the projectile/explosive device being fired directly at them.
At about 14.36, Joshua (John David Washington) is having his prosthetic arm tested and holds his Doctors hand. Their fingers changed from fingers being interlocked to holding hands like arm wrestlers.
The AI Robots and Simulants are all machines yet the simulants are seen eating food and sleeping in hammocks and the AI robots are seen lying down prone 'asleep' whilst recharging. If a machine is recharging they would not need real food, sleep or to switch themselves off in order to do so - they'd just plug in.

Factual errors

Smoke and flames doesn't go "up" in space and form a mushroom cloud where there is no atmosphere. Orbital platform explosion animations were designed wrong, as if they were on Earth's surface.
In the starting credit the movie gives out the meaning of word Creator as NIRMATA but wrongly gives the origin of the word as Nepalese. It's a HINDI language word which in turn originated from SANSKRIT language which is also the origin of many other languages such as German.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

During the sequence when Joshua goes to the temple/laboratory and finds Mayas inert body, he is sporting a ginger Afro hair style. However, just before and subsequently, he has short black hair. The ginger Afro look was sported when in flashback, he first met Maya.

EDIT: Joshua is sporting braids during the "present-day" military strike and subsequent action. He is seen taking them out before approaching the temple. The ends of the braids are ginger, showing that he still has longer hair that is ginger on the ends with darker roots. He intentionally alters his appearance to more closely resemble how he looked when he was with Maya when he thought he was on his way to see her again. There is a time jump after he escapes the temple and his hair is once again braided.

Revealing mistakes

When the local police are attempting to capture Alphie in Drew's apartment, a breach is effected by inserting a grenade in the guise of a food delivery. In the aftermath, Drew's girlfriend/android Kami is seen dead, implying a lethal grenade was used. This would risk injuring or killing the target Alphie, counter to their objective. The correct tactic would call for a non-lethal device, like a stun grenade.
The VTOL aircraft which delivers the SF troops to Asia to assault the AI super-weapon apparently has rotor blades, judging from the sound it makes when landing to drop the troops. This is despite no visible rotors and it possessing at least super- if not hyper-sonic speed for a transoceanic flight.

Miscellaneous

In the evacuation scene where the back door of the aircraft is closing. The latch on the door is already in the locked position.
Even assuming that somehow the AI forces were unable to predict where NOMAD would attack next, and that somehow the AI forces inexplicably lacked the ability to manually aim missiles, kinetic projectiles, or directed energy weapons at such a large, slow-moving platform, NOMAD's theatrical LIDAR would provide an easy way to target counter-strikes, by using "beam-rider" guided missiles.
The interior of the lunar space shuttle is that of a Boeing 787 dreamliner interior, specifically business / first class cabin.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

When Harun interrogates Joshua onboard the sailboat floating in the air above the surface of the water, water splashing against the hull is clearly heard.

Plot holes

In the forty year future while attempting to sneak up on the AI positions, the US soldiers attempt stealth while wearing bright lights and using flashlights to get around when night vision technology has been around since the 1960s.
NOMAD (North American Orbital Mobile Aerospace Defense) is the ultimate weapons for the USA, a mobile low/high orbit space station which can launch super non nuke missiles. They allow a passenger plane to land/dock on it even when they know a DIRECT threat/weapon is on board....it wouldn't have been permitted to get even close to it and intercepted miles away.

Boom mic visible

When Joshua and digger are in the orange suits in Los Angeles sifting through the ruins. You can see the boom mic reflection in the helmets glass.

Character error

At 46:46 in the movie, the dead guy that's being dragged lowers his somewhat raised left hand by himself rather slowly when the dragging ends and his arm is no longer sustained in that position.
Both General Andrews and Colonel Howell are not wearing any rank insignia. In addition, the General's "branch" insignia (brass insignia on lapels) is worn only by enlisted members. The General's branch insignia is that of someone who is assigned to the Finance Corps. A finance soldier would not be in command of a weapons system like Nomad. It would be one of the Combat Arms branches. Also, General officers do not wear any branch insignia.
