Mixed feelings
TheLittleSongbird31 March 2022
Was very mixed on the 2020 Spring Fling Hallmark films, with them ranging between mediocre and pretty good. Of the previous two, 'Just My Type' was enjoyable whereas 'You're Bacon Me Crazy' was rather average. The title for 'Fashionably Yours' was a curious one and when reading the synopsis it seemed like there was a mismatch between title and synopsis. While the 2020 Hallmark in general were very variable, there were some pretty good and more ones.

'Fashionably Yours' for me was not one of those pretty good and more ones. There are certainly far worse Hallmark films from that year, but this was one of the films that left me mixed and being unsure how to rate and review it. 'Fashionably Yours' is far from terrible and is a tolerable effort, with some good if not outstanding things. It is also one of the 2020 Hallmark films that is not particularly good and could have been better. It also could have done more with the setting.

As said, there are certainly good things. Most of the production values are fine, the scenery was often eye catching with Hallmark regardless of any authenticity and it is here. The music didn't feel too constant or overdone, serving its purpose well with nothing offensive if not much distinctive.

Kat Graham is a delight, she radiates cheerful joy and is so charming. She does have some nice playful chemistry with Kendrick Sampson, despite not being as taken with his performance. Did like the light-hearted banter.

However, 'Fashionably Yours' could have been better. Sampson too often comes over as too stiff and his line delivery sounded on the muffled side. The supporting cast are merely competent but nobody stands out or are memorable. There could have been a lot more development to the characters, who are stock stereotypes and not much here (the only one developed that well is Graham's). The editing agreed did seem on the choppy side.

The direction is again competent if undistinguished and merely functional. Other than the banter, the dialogue could have flowed a lot more naturally and there could have been less of it perhaps. The story is pretty weak, the predictability factor is high throughout despite a few differences from the formula and moves at too slow a pace. With it taking a while to get to the point. The final act is on the contrived and too tidy side, not uncommon with Hallmark.

Overall, tolerable if pretty average. 5/10.

Just couldn't get into this at all. Seemed a bit cheesy. I watched the first hour and decided to unfinish it.

little more than Hallmark
Kirpianuscus12 June 2021
The good point - you feel it be more than a Hallmark film. For dialogues, chemistry between lead characters, for a story who do not dreams to convince but remind small , basic, great details defining life. And the beginning, yes, it is just inspired for reflect dreams, facts, wise decision. No doubts, the ingredient who real seduce me was the work of. Sheryl Lee Ralph. So, little more than you expect from a Hallmark film.

It's a hit
sharonweil4 June 2020
Looking over other people's reviews it appears this movie was either a total hit or total miss - not many middle-of-the-road folks. While I won't say it's the best Hallmark movie I've ever seen (and I've seen pretty much all of them), I definitely agree more with those who really liked this one. For one thing, it's very refreshing to have new people playing the leads - I may like Danica and Lacey, Lori and Alisha, seeing them in SO many HM movies is making it harder to really buy their characters and get into the story. And I found both Graham and Sampson to be funny, believable, charmingly awkward but not to the point where I'm cringing, and likable. The storyline was at least somewhat different from the usual as well, so even if you know what the ending will be, you aren't exactly sure how they'll bring it about. I liked the supporting cast as well, and appreciated her relationship with her mom. The only part I found really unbelievable was Lauren's assistant - Paige I think? She didn't seem knowledgable or confident enough to be anywhere near ready to take over for Lauren. Overall, an enjoyable movie that I'd recommend.

enjoyed and watched twice
taylornan15 April 2020
I enjoyed this movie, I thought the main characters had great chemistry. Weird hair/wig on the female lead and I did get tired of hearing the word "Scottsdale". I enjoyed this movie more than the recent flops that Hallmark has aired.

Not terrible, but not great.
ISmellSnow2 October 2020
I'm thankful that Hallmark is starting to add diversity to their programming. I've never seen either actors in anything before, but I really like Kat. The male lead, Kendrick, seemed like he couldn't stop smiling or laughing during the whole movie. It was hard to take him serious. Hopefully, he was just having a good time filming the movie. The beginning was a little rough but the ending wasn't bad at all! The storyline was a bit better than most Hallmark movies. I loved the Seattle scenery. I probably wouldn't watch this movie again on purpose, but if I happen to catch it on while flipping through the channels, I'd leave it on :)

This movie was incredibly boring. I kept thinking something was going to happen, hang in there. I hung in there but it just didn't do it for me. The acting was ok. No chemistry with the characters.

Kendrick Is The Romcom Lead I Deserve
elvirammomo3 November 2020
Absolutely enjoyed everything about this film! Kat Graham is always perfect at being flirty, fun, and real. Coupled with Kendrick's energy, they bounce off each other so effortlessly. There's charm, there's beautiful cloudy Seattle, and of course did I mention Kendrick Sampson should be the lead in all future romcoms?

Boring but palatable
bmiller5922 June 2021
Yea, boring. I enjoyed it though. The chemistry between Kat Graham & Kendrick Sampson was ok, but their chemistry was driven by Kendrick. I enjoyed his charm, disarming as it may be.

Sooooooo, did anyone else have issues with the way it was edited? It happened from the beginning to the end. All of a sudden the scene would cut to a commercial, leaving us hanging. Then when it came back on it would kinda pick up where it left off and there was a black screen where the commercial should have been. Don't know how much of ending we missed because the movie all of a sudden ended. Never have we experienced this before. Poor editing and poor reviewing of final product.

So boring
vivwellman12 April 2020
This movie was so boring I almost turned it off several times but kept hoping it would get better. There was no believable relationship between the main characters and absolutely no spark. And, Hallmark, what is with the most awful wings that are put on your leads? So unbecoming and masked Kat Graham's true beauty. It was also very distracting.

Loved the show, found myself giggling a lot from most of the humor in it!
kstanziola20 May 2021
Every show affects each person differently. So if someone thought it was boring to bad for them not getting into it.

I myself found it nice and followed the story line just fine. The characters had great chemistry and I enjoyed the show very much! Thank you Hallmark!

D for diversity and (slightly) different, still very Hallmark.
MIssM1916 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Lauren didn't get the job she wanted, so she plans to go back home to work with her parents. So, her boss recomends a moving company: enter Rob. Lauren and Rob had met before, at her place of work, where she had thought he was a model (I mean, the man is beautiful, it can happen to anyone). While talking about why she is moving back home, they talk about Seattle, and they make a bet: if she can find three things she likes about the city, he will move her stuff for free.

There, we had an excuse for the leads to spend time together. However it's not the same old plot as always (girl breaks up with boy, girls goes back home, finds and old flame, ex comes back bla bla, you know). In this case, girl is about to move back home, meets boy, and old friend visits her, and realises she likes new boy more. Originality, glad you know the word and remember it once in a while Hallmark.

I liked it. The actress who played Lauren didn't convinced me at first, but turned out to be better than the main actor, he looked uncomfortable, stiff most of the times. She was better (not that this is a competition). There was good chemistry. I also liked the fact that he was trying to encourage her to chase her dreams.

However, I did not like the fact that Rob was willing to do this "long-distance relationship" with her when his last relationship failed because of that. I mean, I know they are attracted to each other and that but they have only known the other two weeks, I hate when they rush it. (I know, they had done it PLENTY OF TIMES).

I hope Hallmark steps out of their comfort zone more (even if it's one tiny step like this and they are still within range) when talking about plot and if it includes more diversity, even better.

So incredibly awkward!
qlorlane13 April 2020
I liked the 2 main characters, but the storyline & dialogue were both so awkward, confusing.and just awful! Nothing about the story made any sense. First of all, the title, "Fashionably Yours" didn't even match the story that was about moving, baseball, and obsessively decluttering and forcing other people to get rid of all their stuff. In fact, the fashion world was nothing more than a job the main character had for about 5 minutes at the beginning of the show. She also was supposed to be from Arizona (Scottsdale to be exact) and complained constantly about being freezing cold, but yet she was dressed the entire time for Spring weather just like all of the other characters. And then she tried to defend herself by saying how much she preferred "balmy" weather. (Because she was from "Scottsdale") Seriously?! You could not find a place that is any hotter or less "balmy" than the Arizona desert. And I swear if they said the word "Scottsdale" one more time! (I counted 23! Ugh!) It was very obvious that the writer of this show had never been to Arizona let alone "Scottsdale". Oh and don't forget that Kat's wig was super distracting and kept changing colors from deep burgundy to a golden amber. Overall Hallmark should have skipped this one all together and you should, too.

I'm sure you've heard every review there is but you're looking now at a young lady that grew up in a very abusive home and my only escape was watching Hallmark as I got older even to be able to see the perfect lives almost that you create of course we know that's not real life but it was certainly refreshing to see something positive in the form of African-Americans because we do have the same feelings as everyone else we still love we still are conscientious we have character we have dignity we weren't we work hard and we love our families and mostly we love God so thank you for this movie brings back the romance and lets people know that there are still plenty of people like I like this out there of every ethnicity that believes in God morals okay well family and above all in romance and love thank you.

Cute Couple Beautiful City

This was a different take on the usual Hallmark romance. The leads had really nice chemistry. The meet cute part was just okay but the bonding scenes worked well and I LOVED the ending.

Unusual Combo
krisoclair12 April 2020
Generally one doesn't expect children's baseball mixed with fashion and a moving business but those are the plot strings of this new Hallmark offering. And I found the unexpected twists refreshing along with cheering that the leads would find a common ground. Enjoyable light hearted film.

Thanks For the Diversity
fulvjoy14 April 2020
I am a Hallmark Channel Fan. I have been since 2009. I watch and like their movies even though they're lacking diversity. Until the recent popularity of this genre of movie, I have been criticized for being such a loyal viewer because most movies have a very white cast. I applaud the channel for the recent efforts at diversity and "Fashionably Yours" is a homerun. I loved the lead actors. I enjoyed their chemistry and playfulness. They're also really cute together. I WANT TO SEE BOTH OF THEM AGAIN in other Hallmark movies. I have been a Sheryl Lee Ralph fan since "It's A Living". So, I would love to see her again too. The plot was characteristically Hallmark and I LOVED IT. Thanks again for FASHIONABLY YOURS.

Boring!
ctwele-3265327 April 2020
This was so slow moving. The lead actress was ok but the lead actor talked like he had a mouth full of marbles. I had to really concentrate to understand him. Not worth the effort. I will not be a repeat viewer for this one!

BORING!
carolynabrandt16 April 2020
No charisma between the main characters. Kendrick Samson's (male lead) acting was stiff. Female lead was much better but relationship between them did not work. I tried to watch but had to shut off after an hour. Normally, I love the Hallmark movies. This is the first Hallmark movie I couldn't finish.

A sultry love story that shows how love changes the course of our lives, gives it meaning, and gives us courage to fight for our dreams!
luvnalaja22 January 2022
Kendrick Sampson and Kay Graham are flawless in this movie! Kendrick is so natural, has such a cool, calm, and collected vibe which makes the viewer hang on to every word he says. He's honest and believable, and that is so rare in TV actors. Kay is sharp, but real and relatable, and together they have great chemistry in this sultry, romantic, classy, and classic story.

What a refreshingly unique plot, with unexpected outcomes (compared to what we're used to in many other Hallmark classics). They kept me engaged and wanting to know what would come next.

There are still some universal themes; we can all relate to the love of family, to holding on to true love, to fighting for your dreams, and to practicing values such as service to others, balancing love and career, etc.

These universal themes, human experiences and values, and happy endings are the reason people look forward to see these movies every season, and year. This movie was cute and enjoyable, more so that many others I've seen.

It's a shame some people are so biased, they cannot bring themselves to rate films with minority leads or cast fairly, and they even dare to leave back handed compliments that do nothing, but show their biases very clearly.

You liked it, it surprised you, it's a good movie, but you still rate it low? Hmmm. Oh, and then there's the plain old haters who seem to leave an untrue or mean spirited comment, just to do damage. Not cool! We see you too, and that's wrong!

I invite open minded people, who see everyone as "human beings" first and foremost, to give themselves the opportunity to watch this and other hallmark movies with minority leads and cast, and rate them in a fair, objective, and unbiased way, as it should be.

I'm very pleased with this beautiful movie, and others done since 2020, which have shown classy, and culturally diverse stories that celebrate family and love in all its forms.

Please have Kendrick and Kay in many more films!

Bravo to Hallmark for making a commitment to be a network that employs diverse casts and champions inclusion! Please continue to do so always, and continue making beautiful movies! Lord knows our nation needs to see our stories, our children need to see themselves represented in people who look like them, and our actors need the platform and the opportunities.

I celebrate and support them all! Bravo!

Refreshingly different
Jackbv12315 April 2020
I expected nothing going into this movie. I know nothing about either lead. Hallmark movies can be hit or miss especially if they are a rehash of all the overused plot lines.

This movie grabbed me in several ways. First the story was not like all the others. The lead doesn't get her promotion so she decides to go home to her mom, but the whole movie takes place before she leaves for home. OK so there were some pretty obvious things you knew were going to happen but they didn't seem at all overused.

I thought the dialogue was fun and interesting with some light banter and a few laughs.

The leads connected so well, I just wanted to watch and see them together. Kat Graham is a delight. I'll admit my guilty pleasure is crushing a little on Hallmark female leads. That wasn't it here, but i did really enjoy her performance. I'd love to see her again.

Lauren is supposed to be a by the numbers person or a rigid organizer, and she is. Graham gives her that but really doesn't come off as rigid or stiff. Somehow you can tell she's going to be fun also. This is a classic (well used) plot line, but somehow it seemed refreshing.

There wasn't a lot of tension or any big conflict. The rivals for each lead never seemed like any threat. Sometimes I complain that there are no big highs or lows and that's mostly true here, but I didn't miss that.

Will I watch it again. Yes I think so.
