- Ryan is turned into a servant of the devil and the only hope he has is a young girl who believes in God's love.
- Asteroth uses the Book of Lucifer to take control of Ryan, who must then kill an innocent child to fulfill the final prophecy that signifies Satan's arrival upon Earth. Ryan tries to fight Lucifer's possession, but it will require the ultimate sacrifice from him. Meanwhile, Micki, Jack, and Johnny try to stop Asteroth.—Adam Hall
- The next day, Micki and Ryan arrive at the hospital and ask to see Jack. Jack is hooked up to a ventilator, staring into space, and Adele is at his bedside. She introduces herself and tells them that Jack's fate awaits all of them. Adele explains that Marie-Mere has become a battle ground, and Asteroth is weakening their faith. She says that if Asteroth succeeds, then Lucifer will walk the earth.
The sick and crippled arrive in Marie-Mere, and they go to the shrine where Deroux is praying for their healing and bathing them in the waters. Asteroth walks among them, holding the Book. Burt arrives carrying Chris, and she tells her father that there will be a miracle.
Micki wants to take Jack to America for treatment, but Ryan warns that he can't be moved. She suggests that they check on Jack's files since it's all they have to go on. Several Satanists have arrived in the village and watch them.
Asteroth goes to the source of the spring and recites from the Book, making the miracles of healing become miracles of pain. The spring waters stop flowing and a wind spring up, and the sky darkens. Chris tells Deroux to keep his faith, and he blesses her for his faith. His faith renewed, Deroux dips his hand into the water. Asteroth puts his hand into the water as well, and it bubbles and roils. The priest screams in pain, and holds up his hand scalded and steaming.
A nun binds Deroux's hand, and Asteroth yells, announcing that a new age of darkness has come. As Micki and Ryan arrive and see the Book, Asteroth declares that one of the onlookers will be Lucifer's deliverer and disciple. He points at Ryan, and runs away, and Ryan chases after him with Micki following her cousin. Asteroth enters a dead-end alley and turns to face Ryan as the latter arrives... and finds the alley empty.
Ryan enters the alley and finds the Book open and laying on the cobblestones. He picks it up and calls to Micki, and Asteroth emerges from the shadows and throws Ryan against the wall. Asteroth ducks behind some boxes, and Micki arrives but doesn't see Ryan laying out of sight, and continues on.
Asteroth kneels over the unconscious Ryan and recites from the Book, saying that a new disciple came forth and Lucifer used him to gain access to the world. The fallen angel marks "666" on Ryan's chest, using his fingernail to break the skin.
Micki continues searching for Ryan. An hour later, Micki sees Ryan step out on the streets and runs to him. He vaguely says that he's fine, and claims that Asteroth escaped him. She wants to have a doctor check him out, but Ryan abruptly refuses and says that he got knocked out for a minute. When Micki suggests that they check on Jack, Ryan vaguely agrees but tells Micki that he has to see Adele first, and Micki says that they'll go to see the sister after they see Jack.
Asteroth goes to the town cemetery with the Book, approaches a mausoleum, and shatters the door apart with a gesture. The fallen angel goes in and cracks open two crypts, revealing the coffins inside. A skeletal body falls out of one, and Asteroth reads from the Book. He promises that the place of Lucifer's return awaits, and they will bring Lucifer onto Earth with the aid of his new disciple. Once Lucifer is on Earth, he will reign through the child.
Chris prays in the town church, as her father Burt looks on. Burt finally interrupts her, saying that she needs to eat to maintain her strength. Chris warns that something horrible is happening and asks him to pray for her.
That night at the hotel, Micki goes through the research and tells Ryan that there are three Books of Lucifer. One is safe in the Vatican and the other two are believed lost. The research says that the final prophecies need to be directed from a place of the dead. Ryan stares out the window, and tells Micki that going through the research is a waste of time. He insists that he needs to see Adele, and Micki reminds him that the nuns at the convent aren't letting anyone see the sister. Micki suggests the research might tell them where Asteroth is hiding, but Ryan says that he needs to see Adele and leaves, ignoring Micki's protests.
Ryan goes to the convent, while Asteroth reads the next prophecy. It says that the disciple will slay the most holy so darkness envelops the Earth. He chants and Ryan mouths the words and storms in, insisting that he has to see Adele. Adele tells the nuns to let Ryan see her, and he asks to talk to her in privately and it's important.
Adele leads Ryan to her room. Ryan says that he met Asteroth, and Adele insists that Ryan isn't Asteroth's no matter what he claims. As Ryan locks the door, Asteroth speaks through Ryan saying she will die in Satan's hate. Adele grabs a crucifix from the wall and prays over it, and Asteroth tells her to deny God or die.
As the sister continues praying, Deroux and the nuns come running. The possessed Ryan grabs Adele by the neck and chokes her, and Deroux and the others pound on the locked door. Asteroth, through Ryan, chuckles maniacally and then storms out past the staff. Adele is laying on her bed, dead. Deroux prays to God, wondering why he has forsaken them.
Ryan flees to an alleyway and weeps, wondering why. He looks at the "666" scratched onto his chest, and screams in grief and defiance.
At the hotel, Micki calls Johnny and tells him that something is wrong with Ryan besides a knock on the head. As Johnny tells Micki that she's overreacting, Mrs. Dallion enters Curious Goods. Micki wants Johnny to come to France, and Johnny says that he'll be there as soon as he can. Mrs. Dllion overhears Johnny's end of the conversation and asks what's going on with Ryan, and Johnny tells her that he's going to find out as he goes to pack.
The police break into Micki's hotel room along with Lt. Marceau. Marceau asks her where Ryan is, then tells Micki to come with them when she says she doesn't know.
In the shop's kitchen, Johnny assures Mrs. Dallion that Ryan can take care of himself. She figures that Ryan hates her for abandoning him, and Johnny assures her that Ryan loves her. Mrs. Dallion tells Johnny that she can't bear to lose another son.
Ryan sneaks into the hospital and Jack's room. He calls to the unconscious Jack, begging his friend to wake up. Jack doesn't, and Ryan says that he killed Adele and doesn't understand why. He wonders why Jack couldn't stop it from happening. Weeping, Ryan tells the unconscious Jack that he needs him.
At the crypt, Asteroth chants over the skeletons and repossesses Ryan. Ryan begs Jack to help him, but gets no response. Two nurses hear Ryan crying and run in, and he snarls at them. They draw back when the see his yellow eyes, and Ryan leaps out the window and runs off.
The next morning at the police station, Marceau questions Micki. She points out all the strange things that have happened, and insists that Ryan isn't a murderer. Marceau doesn't believe her, and refuses to let Micki go until she tells him what she's hiding. Micki asks to make a phone call, and Marceau tells her that it isn't America and she can make all the calls she wants once she tells him the truth.
Ryan goes to the crypt, and Asteroth dabs blood from one of the skeleton skulls onto Ryan's forehead in the symbol of an upside-down cross. The fallen angel that Lucifer will ascend through Chris' body.
That night, the supplicant go through the village, chanting and holding candles as they carry Adele's body in state. Deroux leads the supplicant, and the newly-arrived Satanists are among the onlookers. The funeral train passes the church, and Johnny arrives by cab. He goes into the hotel and finds the clerk, Thorez, burning crosses in the fireplace. Johnny asks about Micki, and Thorez tells Johnny that the police arrested her.
Johnny goes to the station and asks Marceau why he arrested Micki. When Marceau says that there's been no arrest, Johnny tells the lieutenant that there's no reason to hold Micki. Micki explains that witnesses are claiming that Ryan murdered Adele and tried to kill Jack. Johnny tells Marceau to look for the real killer, and Marceau advises Johnny to tell Ryan to turn himself in, or the lieutenant will arrest Johnny and Micki as his accomplices. As they leave, Micki tells Johnny that they have to find Ryan before the police do.
Ryan avoids the police patrolling the streets, and sees Burt wheeling Chris as part of the funeral train. He goes over to Chris and tells her that she must come with him, and he knows where she can be healed. Ryan wheels her off despite her and Burt's protests.
The funeral train arrives at the shrine, and Deroux says that the feast day was to be a celebration. However, Satanic powers seek to shatter their faith in God. Micki and Johnny arrive, Micki figuring that Ryan might be there.
The possessed Ryan tells Chris that he's taking her to fulfill Satan's promise. When Burt tries to intervene, Asteroth speaks through Ryan and throws Burt into a nearby wall and continues taking Chris away.
Deroux says that Adele was martyred because she was a symbol of what the Blessed Mother expects of them. He talks about how ten years ago the miracle came to pass, and now they must all try and believe as Adele did. Deroux leads the congregation in prayer.
In Jack's room, the prayers reach Jack and he comes out of his com remembering what Asteroth said about "the child".
Ryan carries Chris to the crypt where Asteroth is waiting. The fallen angel welcomes Chris as the "most unholy child".
Micki and Johnny go to the hospital, and discover that Jack is gone.
At the crypt, Asteroth recites from the Book as Ryan holds Chris on a mausoleum slab. Chris prays, and Asteroth tells her that Lucifer will grant her prayers for healing. As Chris continues praying, Asteroth prays over her crippled legs.
Jack finds Burt and asks him where Chris is. Burt says that Ryan took him. Johnny and Micki find Jack, and Jack tells them that he doesn't know where Ryan took Chris to Asteroth. Micki reminds him that his research spoke of a "place of the dead", and Jack figures that Asteroth is at the cemetery. Burt asks them to save his daughter and passes out.
Asteroth tells Ryan to stand Chris up and let her see what Lucifer has done for her. Chris stands up, and Asteroth says that Lucifer's power is greater than God, and all she has to do is pray to Lucifer and give the Dark One entrance to her body. She refuses, and Lucifer withdraws her healing so that she collapses.
A wind comes up around the shrine, blowing out the candles, while lightning strikes and thunder rolls.
Asteroth tells Chris that the prophecy will be fulfilled.
Ryan holds Chris down as Asteroth invokes the power of the Book.
Deroux and the congregation continue praying to God.
Lucifer's power proves unable to effect Chris, and Asteroth grabs a sharpened femur and prepares to kill the girl since she won't accept Lucifer. Then Lucifer will resurrect in her power.
Micki, Jack, and Johnny arrive at the cemetery.
Chris tries to get through to the possessed Ryan. Ryan looks at her and remembers Jimmy, then leaps in the way as Asteroth plunges the femur down. As the others arrive, a now clear-eyed Ryan begs Chris for forgiveness and then collapses to the floor. Ryan reverts to his younger self of ten years ago and passes out.
Asteroth yells that the prophecy has been fulfilled, since a child has died to provide Lucifer with a body on Earth.
God's light shines through the clouds, The Satanists among the congregants flee, and Asteroth cowers as God's light floods the mausoleum. He runs to Young Ryan, and Johnny tries to stop him but Asteroth easily casts him aside. Light shines through a crack in the mausoleum wall, incinerating Asteroth's hand as he reaches for Young Ryan.
Chris stands up, healed by God. Jack goes to her, while Asteroth puts out the flames and yells at Jack in defiance, as Jack carries Young Ryan over to Micki. When Asteroth reaches for the Book, more of God's light shines through and destroys the Book. Asteroth calls on Lucifer to save him, but God sets him aflame and destroys him, transforming him into his true demonic form in the process before he explodes.
Young Ryan lies dying, and Chris tells the other that they must get him to the shrine. They go there and as the yellow-eyed Young Ryan twists and writhes, Deroux calls on God to free Young Ryan of Satan's control. Chris prays to the Mother, saying their faith is strong and only God's love can save them. The Mother appears in the light and heavenly light floods the shrine. Young Ryan is freed of Satan's possession, and the Mother disappears.
When Young Ryan wakes up, he has no memories of his life. He remembers Jack as his uncle's friend, and Chris introduces herself. She thanks him for his sacrifice, even though he doesn't remember it. Jack tells Young Ryan that his mother is waiting for him at home, and they'll take him there. Chris tells Deroux that the Mother wants her to stay, and spring waters flow once more, and Deroux leads Chris away. Young Ryan only remembers Micki as his cousin, and she hugs him.
Later when the group return home, Elizabeth is waiting for them after Jack calls her. Young Ryan runs to her, and she stares at him in shock. He notices that she looks older, and asks her to hug him. Jack says that it is hard to explain, but it is Ryan. Mick tells Young Ryan that he's changed a little bit, and Young Ryan says that Elizabeth is still the prettiest woman in the whole world. Sobbing, Elizabeth hugs her son.
