Reasonably entertaining
jaredd24 April 2021
Ignore the bad reviews, this show is plenty good for a reality game show. Sure, you can nit pick quite a few things but overall it's got lots of fun moments. We even get a bit of tugging on the heart-strings with Sahyli's episode.

Some of the singers were so bad you actually suspect they were faking it somewhat, but I suppose it has to be that way. For the show to work we need to know right away if they are bad! As for the good singers, some were just OK, but quite a few blew the roof off with their amazing vocals. Respect...

As mentioned by others, there is one odd-ball episode in the middle that was actually the first episode to film.

I'm looking forward to season 2.

Update to my original review: There is no way to tell if the singers are good or bad. Same issue with the UK version of this. I'm musically inclined and have been watching all the singing shows since Kelly Clarkson.

I think even if there WERE some clue they would just cut it out in editing. So you really just have to take this show for what it is.

Highly entertaining, but has a major flaw in the gameplay
WhiteGirlsAreTheBest24 September 2020
If you're a fan of music & game shows in general, then you'll most likely enjoy it. However it's hard to get past the major flaw in the gameplay of this show (US version only). The Asian versions of this show don't have this issue.

The weird thing about the US version of this show is how they added the cash prizes.. Because the way this game is played, your cash prize before round 6 is pretty much predetermined by the actual number of good/bad singers. It's basically impossible to win all 5 of the first 5 rounds unless there is only 1 good singer out of the 6. So really, the only strategy in this game is to make sure the very last singer is good so you can win the $100k.

But if you can get past this and just enjoy the music & humor of the show, then it's quite entertaining.

Good but judgey
baraheather11 June 2022
One thing I have noticed that irks me about LMSYV is the guest judges, the lame judgement of supposed stars of singing! The nature of this show is trickery ~ of perhaps a mum of 4 who bakes CBD brownies for Snoop, getting a chance to act a fool, let loose, pursue another career, hobby, singer or not! Picking on genres like the "queen of goth" & "little more gothic than I was judging her earlier" or "what goth has blonde hair?" "She even draws like a hippy" another GENIUS statement from Jeff Dye. The generalizations, would Jeff Die, oops, Dye, say that about a black singer, entertainer, someone male? BS! Stop letting idiot guest judges be so bold, so mouthy when they are so mentally blocked themselves...

Warning: Spoilers
Dear Dr. Ken,

While we like the show, there are not quite enough twists to it. To spice it up, it might help to

1 - put some comedians on the panel. The people who are there are way too serious when they should be having fun with this.

2- Create some different characters to have fun with singing. I am not sure about having a singer called "The Terrorist", but then again if you put a paper bag over one of their heads and call them the "Unknown Voice" maybe you can sell something.

3- Get rid of the Golden Mike. This seems to be a useless way to plug a cameo by a celebrity, but comes off flat.

4- Recent show had only 1 good singer. That was pretty cool, and almost a shut out. Maybe a show with all bad singers will prove if a contestant has the need for greed?

5- Don't forget the celebrity doing the duet at the end could also be a bad singer which could throw everything off?

This show is a lot of fun, and works because of RX Dr. Ken. Quite frankly, spotting bad voice's can be pretty fun. I think Putin has a bad voice, along with Kim what's his name, and mumbling Joe. There we have a real mess we have gotten into. This program is more fun than that.

Poor investigation into the singers that performed, Recognised a singer from another show - Goal defeated
chisimchiechukwuka16 October 2020
On seeing episode 1 i recognized the finalist singer from episode 1 of another show "SING ON" where he also said he was a stylist and that aired before this one did. On seeing him the goal of this show was defeated because i would have stuck with him all the way just like the winner did, if she recognised him also then it was her lucky day. Proper investigation should be carried out to ensure the singers aren't recognised before they hit the stage.

Stupid but fun!
moosemysteries3 March 2021
While this show does seem rigged it is fun to make fun of it (and play along too)

Put this show on if there's nothing else to watch and you'll be entertained.

Wowzers, truly horrible show
Xavier_Stone4 October 2020
In a time where the country is trying to be more socially responsible and acknowledge personal biases this is a show that turns it all back.

How can this show be greenlit when you're basically judging a singer by their appearance, body type and skin tone. Then throw in 30s to get out 3 questions about them in a lame attempt to balance out the visual judgement.

Ken Jeong is just horrible. Basically playing the same character in every show, always the Hangover dude who is always obnoxious. Annoying.

Just the premise of the show, determining if the singer is good or bad, and betting with cash prizes. Ken has tried to explain the rules Good=Bad at least 3 times and I'm still confused.

The finale is a duet where they mystery singer sings and is either terrible or awesome. So scripted it's painful.

This is a show that is built around racism and prejudice. "I didn't think he could sing because he is fat." Wow. This is the state of America now.

Pretty entertaining
intorchard-10124 September 2020
The show is kind of confusing as it started out because I didn't really know much about it, but as I listened and focus on what was going on it actually made sense. And it's actually a showcase of people that do and don't have talent but every single person that is up for good or bad singing has a talent of something and someone's going to notice that as in outside agents . I think the show is very good for talent and again there are celebrity judges on there that do help out a random contestant from guessing Due to clues and different scenarios, just like the mask singer well similar anyway. This show is going to be a good one is very entertaining

Entertaining
boris_badanov19 March 2022
It is entertaining, they have a good mix of contestants that cover all areas of the diversity spectrum.

Dr Ken is a decent and funny host.

Some of the guest judges are boring, when Dr Ken buddy Joel is on it's much more humorous. I still don't understand what Cheryl Hines adds to the show. Is she the money behind it and just wants to put herself in?

The golden Mic is kind of corny.

Overall it's and entertaining guessing game. If you're a fan of mysteries it's kind of fun to test your detective skills and see how often you're wrong.

Prejudice, biased, and stereotypical
bosscain25 September 2020
The word prejudice means to pre judge somebody and this is the whole premise of this show. The contestant is supposed to use their bias to pre judge the players in the show to determine if they can sing or not. In this day and age when we as a society fight so hard to dismiss prejudice, bias, and classifying people in stereotypical roles. This show not only promotes these behaviors but rewards the contestant in using them. Add a two bit hack host, has-been panelists, a fake studio audience with canned laughter and applause and you get this abomination of a show. Terrible.

Subverts expectations
jalascia10 October 2020
On the surface, I could see how people would think that the show would add to the judgmental nature of our society. But after watching two episodes, it actually subverts it. It makes us face our own prejudices (which makes people uncomfortable) and shows us that what we see is not necessarily what we get in the world. I think the show is exactly the sort of thing that we need right now to remind us that appearances are not everything, and that we need to keep an open mind moving through this new world we're living in, especially since we don't have the benefit of seeing somebody's smile or even their facial expressions anymore. The concept is really fun, and it's so refreshing to see a cast, contestants, host and panel that isn't whitewashed (finally!) It's also inspiring to see people being brave about their singing ability (or lack thereof) and pushing themselves to do something uncomfortable...a lesson that is great to see portrayed on network television.

A Show For People That Want Less Talent Than Masked Singer
genious-3541324 September 2020
I only wish that covid putting a halt to scripted series was the reason that garbage like this makes it on the air... but it clearly isn't. I watched 10 minutes of it and if you're easily entertained then you might like it. But it's bad. The old adage that 'it's a matter of taste' - that's false. This is bad TV. Why are we watching people do stuff that they're not that good at?

Disappointing
dennisgeorge312327 September 2020
Oh man...I'm a big fan of the Korean version and had high hopes for this one, but am disappointed. I think the FOX producers were running low on content due to the whole COVID situation and just wanted to pump out some content to keep the network afloat without giving much thought to the overall quality. I mean, even the end credits say that "some of the audience visuals were borrowed from other TV show tapings." This leads to the bigger point, which is the overall feel of artificiality. The original Korean version packs authenticity and an emotional punch by diving deeper into the stories of the singers and actually highlights them rather than making them mere accessories to a Las Vegas, it's all about the money, style singing show (it says so much about our culture when almost every game show has a gambling like, get rich feel to it). Obviously, it helps too that in the Korean version, the audience is real and that any money made actually goes to the singer/faker as they're the ones putting in all the effort (if they're good at faking, they're gonna walk way with the prize money nowhere near the level of 100k though, while if they turn out to be good, they get to produce an actual song with the guest of the show - who is almost always a respected musician/producer/music group).

With all that being said, there is promise for this show as the singing participants are actually pretty good. I was blown away both by the faking skills and the actual singing quality of the secret singers. But, again, it's a shame that they are just used as mere props. Hopefully, the producers can take some of the lessons from the Korean version and actually apply them for the second season, or if it's not too late, for the remaining episodes of this season.

Does not live up to The Masked Singer
DarkVulcan2927 November 2020
Just watched one episode, and it just did not do much for me like The Masked Singer does. Now I Can See Your Voice probably has it share of fans, and will most likely go on for a few seasons.

I think the premise is some what clever, but poorly executed. Ken Jeong does alright has the host, but the rest of the panel on the show look like they would rather be somewhere else, unlike The Masked Singer where the panel look like they all are having a fun time, but on this show they look so incredibly bored. The musical numbers just don't jump off at you either.

I like it!
raw102010 January 2021
I just saw seast1E10. It's fun, Unique And brings excitement as well. I like that normal people win money and that 1 contestant plays for the whole show. I really like ALL of the components to the show. They definitely work together in my opinion.Katharine McPhee was a phenomenal Addition! I Love love love Joel McHale and how he and ken jeong have their back n forth digs. Lol. The stars helping the contestant are not as polished as the masked singer. Niecy is a LOT to take. She's more animated and obnoxious than funny but I think that is what makes her Niecy. She's just not my cup of tea. Keep it up. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the episodes!

How screwed up!
dcgaiserii26 September 2020
This is based on commercials I have seen. What this show does is judge a book by the cover. They don't judge the contestants by their voice, but rather their appearance, as they try to guess whether or not they can sing. Told 1 guy he's so fat he's got no vocal cords basically.

Wasn't sure about it, but it grew on me
HotlikeFire252 February 2021
I wasn't going to watch this because the commercials made it look really stupid, but then I watched a couple episodes and it actually kinda grew on me. I really LOVE LOVE LOVE the episode where the guy dressed as the chef sang with Pat Monahan. He truly is a great singer.

Utterly fake, moronic hype
cruzarts-7394612 November 2020
If you live for judges' comments and reaciont shots on talent shows, this is for you! This show offers nothing, other than fake agonizing, people thinking too hard about nothing, and singers dressed up against type.

The title should be a Literine commercial: "I can see your voice: better brush and gargle!"

This show is listerally televized halitosis.

Sorry but no just no
atonyharding4 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
After watching the last episode I am completely convinced this show is rigged. Contestant got rid of 3 good singers in the first 3 rounds and still won the 100k because the show only loaded up 2 bad singers out of 6, sorry not buying it. As for some of the "bad" voices., it does sound like some of the people are forcing the bad voice, they are overdoing it.

host critics
jilldavidson-2155015 December 2021
Ken Jeong who used to have some comedic talent lost it during the first season of the masked singer and became one of the most annoying unentertaining host of a tv show along with Cheryl Hines whos limited comedic career has no buiseness judging talent.

Can You Spot The Fakes?
atlasmb24 September 2020
This is a game show with one contestant per episode. That person can win up to $100,000. The game is a variation on "To Tell the Truth" (TTTT). Ken Jeong is the host.

The game moves quickly through six rounds as the six "singers" try to fool the contestant. Each of the six has a claim, like "I just signed a contract with a record label." But some of them are liars. Like TTTT, the real singers must tell the truth.

After each round, the contestant tries to eliminate a liar. The liars are bad singers. In the first two rounds, each of the six lip synchs to a recording. Only the real singers are lip synching to their own voices. Can you tell who is a competent singer by watching them lip synch? It's not easy, but the contestant has a panel of five celebrities to help him.

After each round, the player can bank $10,000 by identifying a bad singer. Much of the fun comes from the moments when each "singer" reveals his true singing voice.

In rounds three and four, the contestant is given video and audio clues about a couple of singers. In round five, the contestant has thirty seconds to interrogate one singer. By the end of five rounds, the contestant can bank as much as $50,000.

In the final round, the contestant can go for the $100,000 by making an all-or-nothing wager that the last singer is a good singer. The tricky thing is the number of good singers varies from show to show. And the more money in the bank, the more is at risk.

After the final guess, the remaining singer does a duet with a panelist who is a vocalist. In the first episode, that celebrity was Nick Lachey.

If you like TTTT, you will probably like this show. If you like "The Voice" or "American Idol", you might also enjoy the discovery of unknown singing talents.

This is Ken's second rip off of a Korean original show with him as host
bobbyflee6 August 2023
First the masked singer which was created in Korea and not by Ken. Now this show which was created in Korea, not by Ken. He's basically taking popular better shows from Korea and spinning it off as his own to host and not doing well at it. Pretty sad. It's a straight copy cat where contestants are revealed with some details and lip syncing. Then the judges debate and choose. Then when they sing whether it's good or bad, the camera shows the judges reactions. The exact same flow of the Korean original show. Might as well just stream the Korea version in the US since it's way better with a large group of hosts and judges.
