Wasabi's finally in the spotlight after 2+ years!
BrainyxBat19 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
My favorite episode! (Though considering Wasabi's my favorite character, I might be biased.)

Wasabi has to fill in for an absent teaching assistant on first-level quantum optics, but his stage fright makes him freeze up for 6+ hours on the first day. After GoGo advises him to use reverse psychology, thinking he enjoys and is great at public speaking, he ends up in a daydream, staying still and silent for the same amount of time again.

Wasabi's friends try to help him (therapist Baymax suggests envisioning a serene location; Fred takes him on a high tower, to try overshadowing his glossophobia with his acrophobia; Hiro and Honey Lemon simulate his classroom and students, but it glitches), but they all fail.

Elsewhere, Supersonic Sue's grandson, Supersonic Stu (a real Himbo, but he's adorable), busts her out of prison, and they look for an HQ to call their own. They kidnap Roddy Blair, who had built Big Hero 6 a prestigious HQ, and persuade him into building one for them, and keeps them stalled for a while. The team, sans Wasabi, go to rescue him, and end up trapped under rubble.

Wasabi manages to teach his class without trouble, with Mini-Max assisting by having the students, quoting Mini-Max: "Listen to him, and look at me!" He learns of the team's location, and goes with Mini-Max to help them and Roddy out. He pretends to surrender to the Supersonics, and offer them BH6's HQ, but leads them to an abandoned deli. They're arrested, but Wasabi manages to escape with Mini-Max, and a flexible display cloth that renders him invisible.

While all this is happening, Chief Cruz complains to Krei when the Buddy Guards lose against the Supersonics, so Krei promises to come up with, in his words, "something bigger, better, and obscenely expensive". At the end of the episode, Krei shows Cruz something he thinks he'll like: Buddy Guardians, bigger and stronger versions of the puny Buddy Guards.

Overall, I absolutely adore this episode! The "Fugitives" arc may pale in comparison to "City of Monsters", I won't deny, but I think "Fear Not" is the best thing to have come out of it. I'm so glad that he's finally in the limelight after all this time! He deserves it.

My favorite part is Wasabi's daydream; it's so sweet, and adorable. Basically, it has Wasabi becoming a successful SFIT professor full-time. He's adored by his students, wins an award for best professor at SFIT, and even earns a statue of his likeness on campus, which he admires in his greying years. His design for that little part is wonderful too. The song "No Substitute for You" is sweet too.

Highly recommend this episode for every and any Wasabi fan!
