Paul Rudd and Jason Segel in I Love You, Man (2009)

Goofs

I Love You, Man

Edit

Continuity

The Macbook switches between facing forward and backwards on the kitchen counter when Peter gets home, and the 3 girls are talking.
When Sydney is hit by the golf ball, the wound starts on his knee and is clearly shown, but later that day when he calls Pete about the Rush concert, the ice pack is now down near his foot, with no sign of the injury on his knee.
While Peter was posing for the picture that Sydney was going to advertise Peter's job with, Peter's left hand switches between shots from holding his right wrist and holding his right elbow
In the bar when Peter and Sydney are getting to know each other, they both down some whiskey, emptying their glasses. In the next shot, their conversation continues and both glasses still have whiskey in them.
When Peter is at a stoplight he waves to the 3 guys in the car next to him, his window is clearly rolled down. Later, when pulling into the office his window is rolled up.

Factual errors

In the boat race scene, Barry refers to himself and Peter as the "Anchors". However, they are the first in line to drink. In a boat race, the anchors would be the last two in line that have to drink two beers at one time.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

After getting engaged, one of Zooey's friends says, "Congratulations on the wedding!" However, she is simply anticipating the future wedding as a done deal.

Revealing mistakes

In the scene where Peter and Zooey have clearly called Hailey to tell her that they got engaged, the caller-ID says 'Hailey - incoming call'.
At the office when Peter answers the phone, the screen on the iPhone never turns off as is would in reality.

Miscellaneous

When Peter is staring at Sydney's card in his office booth, about to call him for the first time, the hand holding the card is not Paul Rudd's (cf. close up to Peter's hand when he originally receives Sydney's card).

Audio/visual unsynchronised

When Peter confronts Sydney about the billboards, the audio has Peter saying "Eight thousand dollars?" but Peter clearly mouths "five" instead of "eight"
When Peter goes to answer his iPhone, throughout the film you constantly hear two sounds when he answers it - the ringtone and the iPhone's "lock" sound. Normally, the iPhone only ever plays that sound when unlocking it. When you receive and answer a call, no sound is played other then the ringtone.

Errors in geography

Sydney says about Tevin (referring to Tevin's urinal-cake real estate advertising campaign), "I pissed in his face at a Bennigan's". However, there are no Bennigan's franchises in Southern California.

Character error

The seating planning for Peter & Zoe's wedding has both "SYdney" and "SIdney" on it.
Sydney mentioned a guy driving a Saab 9-3 and pronounced it "nine point three", but should just be "nine three".
