MY THAI WIFE AND I LIKED IT
jmvscotland15 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Only one other review eh? Well, that's a surprise. Not everyone's cup of tea certainly but entertaining, at least to my Thai wife and I here, in Thailand.

The other reviewer said that Ariya's and her sister's treatment by their father amounted to child abuse. I don't think so. By modern WOKE Western standards that might possibly be true but Thailand is a completely different kettle of fish. What's regarded as criminally negligent in the West is just a matter of routine here in Thailand.

I have to say that I actually respected the father for the way he sought to improve the lot of his family through his encouragement of his daughters in their golf careers.

This was not a great movie by any means. Thai "acting" is generally just awful but this movie's actors were a cut above most Thai.

Frankly, I was fairly pleasantly surprised by this small move, for a small movie is what it definitely is. It's not one that I will want to watch again but all the same, it was worthwhile.

JMV.

A nice sandy par
rb-320-3850769 March 2023
You need to understand first of all, that Asian parents believe in children's well being and sacrifices in a very different way than parents do in the West. You might hate some scenes, however the reality about Asian children's respect for their elderss in quite a cultural shock for westerns.

The movie lacks production values and has some badly directed scenes that make it hard to follow or to believe, plus many repeated ideas which is typiixal of Bollywood style productions to emphasize on an idea, but at the end the message hits hard and the shot comes out of the sand trap to make a good par.

Miserable
GranHotellover2 May 2020
This is a story of a parent that pushed his children so much that would call it abusive. On Netflix it is labelled as 'inspiring' and 'heartfelt' which to me is misleading. It's almost 2 hours of misery which I guess is just a small snapshot of their lives. After all that misery you would hope for a better conclusion than what we got.
