No hurricane has ever had winds near 300 mph. When the radio is giving the warning, it states that Hurricane Arthur is a Category 5 with 300 mph winds. Hurricane Patricia in the East Pacific had the highest verified winds in history at 215 mph in 2015.
The only Hurricane Arthur that hit the U.S. mainland was in 2015 and it was a Category 2 that hit North Carolina in 2015.
