"Come with me to our rat-infested house, where we can happily live out the rest of our miserable lives in complete abject poverty!" Warning: Spoilers
The first story of this episode is okay enough, but nothing at all memorable, a standard and unpleasantly dull tale of Ren and Stimpy being 'rescued' from the dog pound just as they're about to be put to sleep by a backwards rich old hag who forces them to live under her horrible house rules until she dies and the scheming butler who was a clear take on that fat Chinese guy with the blade boomerang hat from the old James Bond movie, who has been posing as every one of her staff inherits all her money, and poor Ren and Stimpy in accordance with the old bat's will, are stuffed and mounted along with her. It's weird, but it was a weak flat ending to a poor story I thought. The one scene that did make me laugh was when Ren was giving Stimpy the himelink manoeuvre because he was choking on the cat food that's like a rock and the old lady sprayed them with the hose because she thought they were up to hanky-panky! The second is a whole other story and I really like it, I think it's a fun and twisted little spoof of one of my all-time favourites, the animated masterpiece Pinocchio, and I like how they actually did their own version of the wood-cut style of the title and closing card. There's a couple of great gags in it, the idea of "Renwaldo" creating a son out of eggs, a piece of his scalp and brain - and the most important 'ingrediant', some lederhausen "Stimpleton" steals from some dead guy and then how Ren prays to god to bring the abomination to life is so gross and hilarious! And Egg-Yolkeo himself is a fairly disturbing little creation, appearing to suffer terribly and barely be alive with very limited functions..he really is something that just should not be! He just sits there and occasionally makes moaning noises, and I found the part where Egg-Yolkeo sticks a spoon into himself and takes a bite unbelievably nauseating! I love the way the sketchy time period's presented as if it's the time of the Black Plague, but then they just completely toss the idea out the window when Ren hails a cab to go to Veg$s! Well to be fair in this story it's called "The Island of Las Meals"(?), but that's Vegas! I love the scene where Ren's looking all bloodshot-eyed insane and despondent over the missing Egg-Yolkeo, who was earlier kidnapped by a pair of bacon and toast beatnik bad guys, and he's guzzling down "Heiny" brand ketchup as if it's booze, and attempting to make a replica Egg-Yolkeo out of stuff he's found in the fridge and he hysterically screams at it: "What're you lookin' at!? You're not my son! I want my son!!!" And it may be abrupt, but I like the way Stimpy ruins the happy ending in the most brutal fashion possible, and just to make sure that what's left of Ren's already tattered mind is completely shattered, he just has to hear Egg-Yolkeo croak out of Stimpy's gullet one last time "I love you daddy!" Ha, what a gruesome end for Egg-Yolkeo! Damn weird.. Eggy we hardly knew ye - okay, done!
