Plot

When his parents divorce and his mother moves to the United States, 11-year -old Sasha of St. Petersburg, Russia is pulled apart emotionally between two parents, both of whom he loves, and two cultures.

The family lives in Saint Petersburg. Artyom works as a teacher. Sveta was tired of everyday difficulties and her husband's lack of desire for a better life. She leaves him for the American Michael.
