- Lucifer's father - you know, God - decides to experience life as a regular human. Meanwhile, a boxer dies under mysterious circumstances.
- Chloe and Lucifer try to track down a famous boxer's murderer. Meanwhile, God decides to learn what his sons have been going through by removing his powers. Problem is, he can't remember where he put them. Maze sees an opportunity, and Linda babysits.—Gislef
- Lucifer and Amenadiel meet, and Lucifer asks his brother if he's positive he's ready and insists that they need to present a united front. Amenadiel says that he is, and points out that they both agree God needs to go home. They go down to the Lux dance floor and discover that God is gone. Amenadiel asks the bartender if she's seen God, and she asks if he's talking about the plumber.
God comes up from behind the bar and says that he's making himself useful doing small repairs. He admits that his powers have had a glitch moment or two adjusting to the mortal plain, but insists that all is well. Lucifer irritably points out that Amenadiel is meekly accepting what their father is saying, and asks God why he's still on Earth. God says that he's there to help, and Lucifer irritably says that he doesn't need God's help, then says that he has to go to work. Lucifer says that they'll have to talk later, and God goes to tighten the dancing pole.
Chloe tosses Trixie in the back cage of her patrol car, and points out that her daughter stole her handcuffs to lock a defenseless child to a lunch table. Trixie points out that the child was a bully, and she was just doing what Chloe does, locking up the bad guys. Chloe tells Trixie that her daughter's job is learning at school, but Trixie won't be doing it because she's been suspended. Trixie says that she's sorry Chloe is stuck with her all day, and Chloe tells her daughter that she's never stuck with her.
They drive to Linda's house, and Chloe thanks Linda for babysitting Trixie. Linda figures that Trixie won't be any trouble, and Chloe quickly leaves without answering. Trixie smiles sinisterly.
Lucifer is waiting at the precinct at Chloe's desk, and when she arrives late he points out that she's never late. He wonders if he did something, and Chloe tells him that they're good and she's dealing with some family stuff. God comes in, and Lucifer sees his father and goes to deal with him.
Dan is talking to God and says that he didn't know Charlotte was God's wife when he slept with her. God tells Daniel that everything is as it should be, and squeezes Daniel's hands hard as they shake. Daniel explodes, splattering blood everywhere, and then God brings him back and makes everyone forget what happened. Lucifer asks his father if he means to explode Dan, and tells Him that His staying on Earth is endangering the people he cares about. Chloe comes up and says that Ella called and they have a case, and God disappears while Lucifer is turned away. Lucifer figures that God listened to him for once, and sighs in relief.
Lucifer and Chloe go to a homeless encampment beneath a bridge, and find Ella with the body. Ella explains that the victim had a single injection and showed signs of a struggle. She figures that whoever dumped the body wanted it to be mistaken for an accidental death, but it's a murder. Ella has confirmed that the victim was a fighter, Albert Wolcott. Lucifer knows of Wolcott, and tells Chloe that Wolcott was the former heavyweight champion of the world. Ella describes Wolcott's big fight in 2015, and Lucifer jumps in. Chloe still doesn't care, and Lucifer points out that Wolcott had a heart attack a few years ago that ended his career. Lucifer sees God waving to him from the crowd of bystander and goes over, and God says that he's made himself human.
God explains that he's put his powers aside temporarily so he doesn't endanger anyone. He says that he can't be supportive unless he truly understands Lucifer by making himself powerless. Chloe comes over and asks God if he can help since he's normally all-seeing and all-knowing. God is amused at the idea that he doesn't know, and explains to Chloe that he made himself human. Chloe invites God to come back with them, and God agrees.
At the lab, Ella runs video of Wolcott fighting security at a hospital, for Lucifer and Chloe. God is there and enjoying a Gulpee, and Lucifer introduces Ella to his father. Ella is puzzled when God thanks her for her support. Lucifer wants them to focus on the case, and God gets brain-freeze from the Gulpee. Ella says that folks think Wolcott was breaking into the hospital for drugs, and there was a synthetic stimulant in Wolcott's body in massive doses. However, the chemical formula doesn't fit anything in their database. As Lucifer and Chloe go to the hospital, God says that he has to use the restroom. Lucifer takes God there.
At Lux, Dan drinks at the bar and tells himself that he's still in one piece, and God isn't going to kill him. He figures that God will wait until he dies, and then torture him for all eternity. Maze comes over and looks into Dan's face when he closes his eyes, and Dan asks her what Hell is like. She says that it's awesome, with the pain and suffering that she likes. When Maze realizes who she's talking to, she tells Dan that Hell is going to suck for him. She bemoans the fact that she doesn't have a soul, slaps Dan for reminding her, and walks off.
Lucifer and Chloe talk to Dr. Alice Porter, who says that Wolcott was her patient and he had a heart attack after a match. The medics rushed Wolcott to the ER, and Porter says that she saved him with a triple bypass. Wolcott fell into a deep depression and stopped showing up for his appointments, and the last time the staff saw him when was when Wolcott was caught trying to steal drugs.
Chloe shows Porter the report on the drug, and Porter says that it's a drug that was developed for fighter pilots. The drug, YSD, is very exclusive and Lucifer takes a pill container out of his pocket and has Porter use them to give a description of the YSD pill she's seen. Lucifer has a YSD pill in his extensive collection, and as they leave Lucifer tells Chloe that he got the drug at Lux. He knows of only one dealer in town who carries it: the Colonel. Chloe says that they'll set up a sting to bring down the Colonel. God is thrilled at the idea of a sting, and Lucifer tells his father that they're dropping him off at the penthouse on the way.
The team sets up the sting at a deserted airbase that O'Brien uses, and Dan and Chloe monitor it from a surveillance van. Dan wonders if they should send Lucifer in alone, and Chloe figures that nothing can go wrong now that Lucifer is invincible.
Lucifer meets Colonel O'Brien at the abandoned airplane she uses as a base. God is already there, much to Lucifer's dismay. He talks to God privately, and God says that he has to experience risk and danger to understand Lucifer. O'Brien gives God a drink, and calls Lucifer "son". She works out that God is Lucifer's father, but isn't offended. Lucifer offers the Colonel the money for the drugs.
In the van, Chloe and Dan listen in. Dan asks how O'Brien is doing from a moral standpoint, and Chloe figures she's not doing so great since she's a drug dealer and a murderer. Dan thinks that military school isn't the place for Trixie, and Chloe realizes that Dan thinks their daughter is going to Hell. He wants to nudge Trixie in the right direction, and warns how easy it is to get on the wrong track. Chloe says that Trixie is just having a tween moment, and probably talking to Linda about as they speak.
At the house, Linda and Trixie have ice cream and are talking about the school incident. Trixie tells Linda that she can't trick her into talking about her feelings, and Linda says that she doesn't have to trick Trixie because she can deduce how Trixie is feeling. She talks about denial, and says that Trixie could cure it by look into her heart and see who she's really mad at, and then tell that person how they're feeling even if it might hurt them.
God entertains O'Brien's thugs with stories about Lucifer when he started the rebellion. O'Brien tells Lucifer that he's lucky his father is there, and talks about how her mother was supportive of her being one of the first female drug dealers. She says that Lucifer should be grateful his father is so supportive, and Lucifer angrily says that God isn't supportive. God comes up and tells O'Brien that he didn't have to support him and Lucifer moved to LA all on his own, and starts to blurt out that Lucifer is a consultant for the police.
Lucifer cuts his father off, but God points out that Lucifer is handling the sting well. O'Brien draws her gun and aims it at them, and God "whoops" as he and Lucifer put up their hands.
In the van, Dan tells Chloe that they'll be okay, and God is God. Chloe says that God isn't God anymore.
O'Brien tells her thugs that they're moving out, and Lucifer whispers to God to get his powers back. God says that he can't but everything will turn out all right. They argue and O'Brien tells them to shut up. When O'Brien slaps God, God is shocked by his first experience with pain. Lucifer's eyes glow red and he attacks O'Brien.
Dan and Chloe hear the sounds of a scuffle, and run into the plane.
Lucifer puts on his demon face and picks an unconscious O'Brien up. God tells his son to put the human down, and Lucifer drops the dealer, reverts to his human face, and tells God that they were going to kill him. As God takes in that fact, Dan and Chloe come in and confirm that everyone is okay. Lucifer says that they can clean up, while he and God have an errand to attend to. As they go, Lucifer tells God that they're getting his powers back but God doesn't remember where he put them.
Father and son go to the penthouse, and Lucifer gives God a drink to help dull the pain. Lucifer then tells God to focus, and God says that he still doesn't know but is sure that they're safe. His son worries that if the powers are lost for good, the universe will collapse. God says that Lucifer's demon face is quite intense in person, and he asks why Lucifer chose that face. He figures that deep down, the face is how Lucifer sees himself.
Trixie comes in, kicks Lucifer in the shin, and says that he looked in herself and realizes how dumb Lucifer is. She tells Lucifer that grown-ups are supposed to be responsible, and Lucifer bans her from the penthouse for a month to show her responsibility. Lucifer goes to take Trixie back to Dan, who is waiting downstairs, and discovers that God has passed out from his one drink. Rolling his eyes, Lucifer takes Trixie on his own.
At the precinct, Chloe questions O'Brien who points out that all Chloe has on her is passing a drug that doesn't officially exist yet. Chloe tells the dealer that they have O'Brien for murdering Wolcott with YSD, when she's the only YSD dealer in town. O'Brien says that she isn't scared of Chloe's accusations, and Chloe threatens to tell O'Brien's mother. The colonel claims that her mother wouldn't care, and Chloe says that as a mother she knows better. O'Brien cracks and tells Chloe to hang up the phone, and says that she sold YSD to a guy, Kristoff, who considers himself a fitness guru to the stars, and trains fighters. She suggests that maybe Wolcott was one of them.
That night, Maze tells a customer that she would kill God if he wasn't invincible. Amenadiel comes over and tells the customer that Maze is a traitor, and the customer leaves. Maze tells Amenadiel that she won't cause any more trouble and she gets that she'll never be more than she is. Amenadiel explains that Lucifer called him to take care of God, and says that God has made himself human. Maze offers to go with Amenadiel, and Amenadiel accepts that Maze is trying to help.
Up in the penthouse, Maze draws her knives while in the next room, Amenadiel praises her emotional maturity. Neither one of them finds God, but Amenadiel finds a note saying that God went to find his powers. Maze suggests that they split up to look for God, and asks Amenadiel if he knows of where God might have gone.
Lucifer and Chloe go to Kristoff's gym and find him in his office. Chloe flashes her badge and asks about Wolcott, and Kristoff says that Wolcott had potential. Lucifer refuses a call from Amenadiel, while Chloe asks if Kristoff is using YSD to help train his stars. When Kristoff denies ever hearing of the drug, Lucifer uses his soul gaze on the trainer. Kristoff says that he wants more YSD. The trainer said it was fun at first, but they call him day and night and show up at his home. The drug helps his clients focus, so they don't bother him. Kristoff says that he takes YSD himself, and never gave Wolcott any drug and he wouldn't have taken it he had.
Out in the gym, Chloe checks the blueprints of the hospital on her phone and finds a second door. She suggests to Lucifer that Wolcott was trying into the second door, which leads to the records room. Lucifer says that he can't go to the hospital with Chloe. He's checked his messages and learned that his father has gone missing, and tells Chloe to go to the hospital while he tries to find God.
Much to Chloe's surprise, Lucifer kisses her on the cheek. She says that it's fine and he hugs her, and says that it's all good even though Lucifer is surprised at his sudden public displays of affection.
Maze finds God in a subway station, draws her knives, and comes up behind Him. He turns to find Trixie behind him, and she asks if God is also running away.
At the hospital, Porter is operating when Chloe goes into the observation room and says that Wolcott checked Porter's records to confirm that she had botched other surgeries as well as his. Chloe has checked the records and found out the truth, and figures that Wolcott threatened to expose Porter so she killed him and made it look like an accident using YSD, the same drug Porter uses to steady the tremor in her hands.
Porter denies it, and Chloe says that she knows how it feels to have people depending on her. She tells Porter that she's not okay, and pretending that she is is hurting the people who depend on her. Chloe tells Porter that the doctor can save one last person by putting down the scalpel. After a moment, Porter does so. The police come into the operating room to arrest Porter.
Trixie and God sit on the subway platform and share their food. Trixie asks God why He's running away, and He says that He's been getting confused, losing things, and now his children are mad at him. He figures that he really messed up, and Trixie says that everyone makes mistakes, even grown-ups. God asks why Trixie is running away, and she says that she's been mad at Lucifer for a while but has been in denial. She thought they were friends, but then Lucifer went off to "Florida" without saying goodbye. Now whatever Lucifer is doing, it's making Chloe sad.
God explains that the way Lucifer acts may be his fault, and he tried to give his children the right amount of free will and responsibility. He's not sure He got it all right. Trixie tells God that parenting seems like being a tough job, and God tells her that he's never been a kid but it doesn't seem easy, either. Maze, listening from hiding, turns and walks away.
Trixie tells God that it's time to go home, and God realizes that's the key to where his powers are.
That night, Lucifer and Amenadiel go back to the house and they start arguing about forcing God to confront his issues. Amenadiel tells Lucifer that he should start showing their father some respect, and Lucifer says that God is out there without his powers and afraid. God comes in and asks who is afraid, and says that He's starting to realize what He put them through.
Linda and Charlie come back, and God tells His sons that everything is going to be fine. He takes Charlie's rattle and takes his powers back from it, and Linda wonders what just happened.
Later at Lux, Dan finds Maze and asks if she's had a rough day. She says that she couldn't kill God, Dan figures that God killed him, and he says that they need more drinks. God comes over with drinks and thanks Maze for not killing him, and Maze claims that she didn't want Trixie to see that kind of violence. He knows better and points out that Maze chose not to kill him, and they can all learn and grow. Maze says that a demon can't grow a soul, and God questions that before walking away.
Dan bumps into God and spills drinks on Him. He tells God that he slept with God's wife and wouldn't change that if he could, and tells God to smite him. God tells Dan that it isn't his business who his ex-wife slept with, and He's glad she found someone to give her the love she deserved. He offers His hand and thanks Dan, who hesitates to shake back. God just chuckles and walks away.
Chloe is tucking Trixie in and says that they have to talk about some things. Her daughter tells her that she's learned grown-ups make mistakes as well and she forgives Chloe. Trixie apologizes for what she did at school, and Chloe says that she should realize that Trixie is beautiful and smart. Her daughter says that she can tell Chloe is sad, and denial happens to the best of them. Chloe agrees and says that when Trixie was younger, she tried to shield her from bad situations and feelings. Trixie figures that Chloe is upset about Lucifer, and Chloe admits that she's not sure what Lucifer and her will be, but she has to tell him her real feelings. Chloe says that she doesn't know what will happen then, and that's scary. However, no matter what happens she and Dan will always be Trixie's parents and will always love her.
Lucifer, Amenadiel, and God are in the penthouse sharing a drink. God says that Lucifer was right, and He's been slipping for quite a while, for longer than He'd like to admit. He asks them to keep a secret, and says that it's time that He retire. With that, God disappears.
