During the 60s, television was crammed with shows like "Shindig," "Hullabaloo" and "Lloyd Thaxton," but the center of the TV music universe, the one the kids ran home to watch after school, was Dick Clark's daily "Where The Action Is." This seminal show serves as the jumping off point for our deep dive into how the music of this period really "Rocked The World!" Broadcasted nationally, it featured Paul Revere & the Raiders, as the house band and showcased top bands and artists of the day, propelling many of them to worldwide acclaim and stardom.
"WHERE THE ACTION WAS," hosted by, Raiders', co-founder, lead singer and songwriter, MARK LINDSAY, is the story of a decade that began with innocence and ended with unspeakable murder, but had one important constant that helped people forget the stress and struggle of their daily lives, the LA music scene. It was when everyone walked around listening to the Boss Jocks on KHJ on transistor radios, sharing their favorite new songs and bands with family and friends. A time, when musicians could cut a record, rush to the local station, hand it over to a jock and drive away as it played on the radio. It was a time of free love, free expression, protest and rebellion. At the center of it all was Los Angeles, California with its exciting, vibrant and ever evolving music scene, the Sunset Strip, the Whiskey A Go Go, George Barris' MonkeeMobile, Wallach's Music City, Tiger Beat, Hullabaloo, Hangin' Ten, Hippie-Bohemian Chic fashion featuring mini skirts and Go-Go boots, long hair, fun, fantasy and those Mop Top Lads from Liverpool, that started it all. It really was "WHERE THE ACTION WAS!"
