- Tonight, excitement is at an all time high as 10 of our favourite past Blockheads return to partner up with this years teams for a challenge.
- The fifteenth season of Australian reality television series The Block premiered on August 4, 2019. Hosts Scott Cam and Shelley Craft, site foreman Keith Schleiger with Dan Reilly, and judges Neil Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer, all returned from the previous season. This year contestants are renovating a rundown backpackers accommodation, Oslo Hotel, in St Kilda, Victoria.
- Tess has no bathroom door, no plasterer, a frustrated builder and she's in tears over it. Luckily for her, neighbours El'ise and Deb are on hand to give her support. "This is just a moment that you're in now," Deb advises gently. Tess straightens her hard hat and gets stuck back into it. The first challenge of the day is a switch to the type of gyprock needed and normally wouldn't warrant a mention, except Jesse manages to make it a special moment with Keith. But bigger things are happening at The Block, including a budget shaming session for everyone - and we're here for it. All the teams were given a big whack of money at the start of the build and have been spending it like they don't own it. El'ise is nervous about the meeting, still tender after her last budget showdown. "It wasn't very nice and it upset her," says husband Matt, protectively. Opening the meeting, Scott Cam is all smiles. "Don't panic," he begins. Nobody believes him. Amber from Suncorp reads everyone's spending out loud and even gives El'ise credit for following the plan they set up. The boys are not just flying through their build, but also best on ground when it comes to managing their budgets too. Just as things are starting to go smoothly, the couples are asked to grab an overnight bag and a shiny red Amarok, to join Scott Cam on an adventure. They arrive at a quaint town, where Scott declares they will be simply enjoying a meal. Once again, nobody believes him. "It's eat, enjoy, be merry - and have a great night's sleep," Scott assures them, as everyone holds their breath for the "but". It doesn't come. Primed for a challenge, the Blockheads immediately regret not changing out of their hi-vis. Still suspicious, the teams go to bed believing there will be a challenge in the morning. They wake up ready to go. "I knew there was fun coming our way," says Mitch as the teams head off-road for a spot of 4WD'ing. They end up at a campsite and everyone is sceptical as host Shelley Craft finally welcomes them all to 'Challenge Day'. Foreman Keith is there too and announces he has rallied a few friends to help out our current Blockheads. "You've got friends?" Matt quips. A bunch of Block All Stars are hiding in nearby tents, ready to be matched with the current teams. Alisa and Lysandra are paired with Mitch and Mark, Dea and Daz join Jesse and Mel, and Josh and Elyse team up with Tess and Luke. Rounding things out, Josh and Jenna team up with Andy and Deb, and Ronnie and Georgia are united with El'ise and Matt. "Wow, these are All Stars," says Mitch admiringly. "Guys who have won The Block and proven themselves beyond The Block." "It was almost like seeing a celebrity in real life," says Jesse - and we'll just leave that comment there.
