- Asian Southall Football Club was once a reputed club until 1984 now being used as wedding venue.Few Asians still practice out there but find the clubs lease will expire soon and will shut forever who then team up to save the club.
- Jaidev and Kavita Bhasin live a middle-classed lifestyle in Southall, England, along with their son, Sunny. During the mid-80s Jaidev was a huge fan of the all-Asian Southall Football Club, and their team was very successful so much so that it generated hatred from opposing mainstream Caucasian teams, who attacked Jaidev and the team's star player, Tony Singh. This spelled the end of the team, and the ground was then rented out for weddings and birthday parties. Jaidev wanted Sunny to play for Southall, but Sunny believed himself to be British and joined the Aston Football Club. When the time came for selection, Sunny, often referred to as 'Paki', was sidelined. Embittered, he joined the Southall Club, and he, and the Captain Shaan Ali Khan, as well as Coach Tony Singh, steered the team to many victories including a place in the semi-finals. Just before Southall team was to play against Gatwick, they get the news that Sunny has flip-flopped again - this time he has switched to another more prestigious Club in exchange for a fancy sports car, a 4 bedroom mansion, a handsome signing amount, and an equally generous weekly allowance - leaving Southall to turn it's ground over to the Chair of the City Council who wants to demolish it, and build a shopping mall and theme park in it's place.—rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)

England is crazy about football and has 645 clubs. the Southall Club, is generally used for wedding parties. But occasionally Captain Shaan Ali Khan (Arshad Warsi) leads his team of South Asians in a football game at the ground. Shaan is married to a British Jenny (Zehra Naqvi), who runs a restaurant in Southall. Team includes Ranveer "Goalie" (Kushal Punjabi), Debashish "Debu" (Dibyendu Bhattacharya) & Monty Singh (Rajendranath Zutshi). Ranveer dates Shweta (Shernaz Patel), who hosts a TV show on football.
Johny Bakshi (Dalip Tahil) is a property developer who is eyeing the football club for his new multiplex project. The club is on lease to Mr Dhariwahl (Ernest Ignatius) from city council, for a period of 30 yrs, but he has not been able to pay rent for the last 8 yrs. City Council wants Mr Dhariwahl to pay 3 MM pounds in 11 months to retain the club. The prize money of the football league is 3 MM pounds and so, the club has no option but to win the championship to save itself. Mr Dhariwahl dies of a heart attack and with remorse that he had nothing else left to give to the club. Southall is a 100 yr old club which last reached the finals in 1985. It was known to be beat many top leagues of the league back in its day.
Shaan reaches out to ex-Southall player Tony Singh (Boman Irani), to convince him to coach his side. Tony walks away from Shaan and doesn't want anything to do with Southall. Shaan makes him realize that he loves Southall and Tony shows up for training the next day. Tony puts the team through simple physical exercises and they all collapse. Southall team needs gear and a tour bus and 12000 pounds for the same. Shaan puts up a donation box, which receives a lot of hate messages, but one donor donates a wad full of cash. Tony also ropes in Dr. Rumana (Bipasha Basu) as the team doctor (she is also Shaan's sister). Monty arranges for a rusty old, retired double Decker as the Southall official tour bus. Tony knows that the team lacks a good attacking player to score goals. Rumana introduces Tony to Sunny. Sunny plays for Aston club and Tony says that he is wasting his time and should play for Southall. Sunny rejects the offer. Sunny is a great player (he gets paid 250 pounds per week), but is subjected to racial harassment by his British team-mates who call him Paki. Rumana and Sunny continue running into each other.

Meanwhile Southall play their first league match again Paddock Wood. Southall is down 4-0 by mid-time and 6-0 by full-time. Ranveer is an awful goalkeeper and it is evident that many times he cant even see the ball. Tony finds Sunny and challenges him to play for Southall if he cant snatch the ball from him within 10 secs. it emerges that Tony is an expert player and Sunny is not able to take the ball away. He reports for training the following day. Shaan hates Sunny as Sunny refused to play for Southall yrs ago. Shaan tells Tony that Sunny will not be loyal to the team, but Tony over-rules him. In the match against Aston, nobody passes the ball to Sunny. Southall loses 2-0 as everyone refuses to cooperate and pass the ball to Sunny.
After a motivational speech from Tony, the team starts playing for the dream of becoming champions. Sunny, and the Captain Shaan Ali Khan (Arshad Warsi), as well as Coach Tony Singh, steer the team to many victories including a place in the semi-finals. They win the next match against East Leighton 3-2. However, just before Southall team intends to play against Gatwick, they get the news that Sunny has switched to another more prestigious club (The Millwall City club) in exchange for a fancy sports car, a four bedroom mansion, a handsome signing amount, and a generous weekly allowance of 5000 pounds. Southall has 2 games left and their last game is with Aston. They are one point ahead of Aston and if they lose their next match, they will need to beat Aston to win the championship.
In the next game, Ranveer breaks him hand while goalkeeping and Southall goes on to draw the match, after Monty misses a penalty in the dying seconds. This leaves Southall to turn its ground over to the Chair of the City Council who wants to demolish it, and build a shopping mall and theme park in its place. His actions prompt the community to ostracize him for his betrayal and treat him with contempt and disdain. RUmana breaks up with Sunny.
However, Sunny eventually discovers the truth of his father's attack and support for Southall. Deeply moved he rejects his contract and heads back to Aston FC. Tony allows Sunny to join the game and Shaan also welcomes him. Half time Southall is ahead 2-1. Sunny was playing with a hairline fracture of his nose and Johny knew this from Sunny's medical tests with Millwall. Johny relays this info to the captain of ASton FC. Rumana sees this as tries to warn Sunny, but Sunny insists that he will keep playing despite taking hits on his nose, that might make him blind. Sunny scores a goal in the dying seconds and Sunny helps Southall win the Final match against Aston 3-2 and redeems himself to his teammates and community.
