No it's not this is a film. (Well I use that term loosely). Shot on video Horror.

A film school stumble across a bar and the locals tell them of a curse that befalls the bar every seven years. It is apparently haunted by the "Great Chino". One by one they are killed by the Unseen entity. The main character, Rocky Horror !!! decides this will make a great movie and starts to film the events. All is not what it seems, have they really been gathered together by chance?

Shot on a low budget. My tolerance levels for this sort of film is high, so I must say I have mixed feeling about this. I really could not understand why the main character was able to ask people to do whatever he wanted, leading to their obvious death. Most of them he sends outside, and they go !!!!! One woman, Venice, just goes out without being told, not really sure why. I found all of this very far fetched. However the ending does explain some of this, but I still found this to be irritating.

The whole point of a film like this is for horror fans to get their dose of scares and gore. Well there is very minimal of both, so what really is the point.

However I did find that the story engaged me and there were some twists that I did not see coming and overall I found this to be an OK time waster. I watched this as part of the Catacomb of Creepshows box set. As one reviewer said I am seven films in and this was not the worst.

Rocky initiates new student, Jack Terri, into his troupe of high school actors in a quest to up his game and take his amateur movie making to the next level. He sees his chance when a bar patron tells of the local urban legend of the 'Great Chino' who haunts that very bar every seven years. Now everyone is trapped in the tavern as someone or something is murdering anyone who dares to venture outside.

This one started off well enough, but it grew kind of tedious after the crew got to the bar. I didn't outright hate it like some of the other films in the Catacomb of Creepshows box-set (looking at you "The Forever Dead") but I didn't particularly care for the film either. It was just... MEH.

Yes, this is a rather amateur film. The acting is very up and down and the camera-work is a bit hit and miss. That said, I found it more appealing than a lot of similarly low-profile movies. The horror stereotypes are all in place, but the premise of the film is such that one feels that this is intentional.

Bobby Baldassari, as Rocky Horror (yes, you read that right), overacts a little, but is easily bearable as the lead. Tanya Bettencourt, in her only IMDb-listed role, is a little stilted, but is likable nonetheless. Most of the supporting cast are unremarkable, but it could be a lot worse!

Overall, an entertaining enough way to spend an hour and a half. If nothing else, watch for George Yeager who, when in costume as Jack Terri, is strangely reminiscent of Wheels from the original Degrassi.

Heavy-handed

Essentially, if you've seen the first few minutes, you've seen the movie! This prank (putting someone in a horror flick non-consentually) is pretty much the entire film.

Locked in a bar, with a monster outside, Rocky antagonises people until they venture outside. Not believable. Not remotely believable anyone would be more scared by Rocky than being eaten by a monster and even worse because if the audience can't buy it, why would the protagonist?

Oh, the twist kinda explains it - rather odd, really, that this incompetent movie still cheats less than The Uninvited for example.

A big cast brings nothing but boredom, with most kills being offscreen; you'll probably be fed up long before it finishing.

Long, unintentionally funny, but mostly long

I knew I was in trouble the moment I saw the cover for this movie at the rental place; had all the usual signs of what I like to call home-made horror. Lately these have been springing up everywhere, it's like anybody with a camera and a tube of theater blood thinks they can whip up a scary story. This one is no exception to the rule.

The movie starts off slow, as we learn about Rocky "Horror" and his misguided attempt to make horror movies in film class. You can taste the irony here, considering that his in-movie movie is just as bad as this one. The story then revolves around him making his 'masterpiece movie', and getting all of his so called friends, plus the mysterious new kid, involved. The plot itself is easy to figure out hours before this will be over, at least it will feel like hours. Most of the bloody stuff happens off-screen, and most of the movie is in one room, so we have to rely on both really bad acting and hilarious over-acting to get us through this.

I did like some of the dialog, although it doesn't get really interesting until the last hour or so, and even then only true fans of cheese will crack a smile. Basically, until people start dying this is barely worth falling asleep to. All in all, this makes good background noise for when you have better things to do, but the lack of any good blood/gore and the sad, predictable 'twist' ending make this mostly unwatchable.

Unexpected - Surprisingly good for a low budget horror indie!

This was a lot better than I expected. Acting was OK, but story and action was enough to keep me interested and entertained. I really like the premise of the movie and how it developed the characters. The setting was eerie and dark - once we know the main character's motivation. Big twist at the end!
