- Himself - Host: When I was growing up in the 1950s, I was fed a steady diet of cowboy culture. My friends and I loved to play Cowboys and Indians. I grew up near Davy Crockett High School and though we were a thousand miles from Texas, nothing seemed more American than The Alamo and John Wayne. But did those movies, the names on the buildings, leave out of the story? Where does Texas history begin and what am I supposed to remember about The Alamo? I went down to Texas to find out.
