Soon Chance meets his doppelganger in the beginning of a tragic night.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- Chance Miller is down on his luck when it comes to money. In fact, he's three months behind on rent. His last hope rests on an antique vase that he takes to a collector, who offered him $45 000 for it a few days earlier. Upon his arrival, Chance sees a distorted reflection of himself, which fades away and returns abruptly. When the collector sees the vase, he refuses to pay more than 5 000 for it, and Chance lashes out and attacks him. They fight and the collector is knocked out. Chance hears a noise and investigates. He finds a man who looks exactly like him, that scoffs at him and walks away. Chance follows him and finds the collector crawling towards a phone. Chance beats him to death with an antique cane, after which his doppelganger appears again and congratulates him, just to disappear again. Chance cleans and nurses the wound on his forehead, and then returns to the collectors body. He reaches down, but then the smoke alarm is set off. He beats it down with the cane and destroys it. Straight after, the phone rings and Chance answers. The man on the other side asks Chance if all is well, and asks for a password, to which Chance fails to have an answer. The man ends the call, which means he is sending somebody over. Chance hastily cleans up the mess caused by the fight, and hides the body behind the desk. Soon after, a guard shows up. Chance pretends to be taking care of the shop for the collector. The guard demands to be let in, and Chance is left no choice but to comply. The guard eventually discovers the collectors' body, and as he turns, Chance stabs him with a sword, killing him. The "evil twin" once again makes an appearance, warning Chance that the collectors wife will arrive at any minute. He helps Chance to dump the bodies in a dumpster outside, and clean up further, discovering the collectors' severed fingers. Chances' cellphone rings, and he answers, putting the fingers in his pocket. His girlfriend, Jackie is on the other end, and she asks him when he will be home and how the deal is going. He lies and says he got the money for it. Soon after he ends the call, the collectors' wife shows up. She doesn't find them, and instead gets into the shower. Chance and his evil twin argue, and the twin tells Chance to kill the wife and search for the money, but Chance refuses. The twin then goes up to the shower and strangles the woman, while Chance flees the building. He runs home, and gets a message from Jackie, saying she went to the store and will be back soon. Chance takes a shower and discovers the wounds on his forehead are gone. Jackie comes home, and Chance is in the bedroom. He opens up his bag to find stacks of money. He has a flash of memory, in which the collector accepts his deal and gives him the money. He starts laughing and holds stacks of money out in front of him. Jackie comes into the room to find him, and freezes, a look of horror upon her face. Chance looks down and realizes he is holding the collectors' two fingers in his hand. Suddenly, his twin barges through the front door, and grabs Jackie by the neck. Chance screams and protests, but his twin shuts the door, and we hear him violently assaulting her. Later, the cops enter the apartment, finding a dead Jackie and the collectors fingers laying on the carpet. They find Chance, giggling to himself. They put him in the patrolcar, and he sees himself in the rearview mirror. He smiles.
