I got nothing I expected except fine acting, writing and direction.
AlsExGal19 October 2019
Nobody on this jarring finale behaves like I expected them to behave with two exceptions. First - oldest son Connor. His activities are completely divorced from the family business - a Quixotic run for the presidency and his girlfriend's play. He goes to dad for "just a hundred mil(lion) to tide me over" like he is a seven year old asking for an advance on his allowance. When dad puts conditions on that money he pouts just like a seven year old. No surprise. Emotionally he is seven years old.

Logan is the other person who acts according to expectations. He gets told by Roman that the sovereign wealth money will probably not be coming through, thus they will not be going private thus there is going to have to be a blood sacrifice to satisfy the stockholders over the recent scandal. Logan manipulates things such that the knives all come out Godfather style, but they are all trained on each other, not him. Not the Lyin' King.

This is an intimate episode with lots of small scenes that say chapters about the characters as they all behave in unexpected ways, and on this show that is mainly a good thing! The setting is the Mediterranean Sea and the Roy yacht that looks more like a five star hotel afloat. It would make the Titanic say "wow!" and sit up and take notice.

And that very last take - The look on Logan's face. Is that pride that I see? You can't EXACTLY tell what that look means. If an actor could win an Emmy for a single ambiguous facial expression, Logan Roy's Brian Cox would get the nod.

Best small scene: Tom, in a desperate attempt at trying to show dominance Roy style, walks up to Logan and begins to eat his chicken. And then says thank you.

Kudos to the entire cast and crew for a very excellent second season.

Excellent season finale. Loved the smirk of Logan's face as he realized his son "had it."

Brilliant!

Watching all of these horrible people sit around a table talking about who was going to be the "blood sacrifice" was hilarious. I wasn't sure, but YES, that was a small curl of a smile on Logan's lips as he watched his son throw him under the bus. Ken is a Killer after all. Great drama. Brilliant script, even if I think in real life it would have been Frank (who was willing) or Karl or Tom sacrificed instead. This way it's very Shakesperean. How can Season 3 top this? Can't wait to see.

Brian Cox and Jeremy strong deliver an astonishing acting. The text is perfect. The camera looking for the characters and zooming in their expression gives a theatrical effect. Looking forward to next season. What's going to happen with ken and Logan ? Good hook. Highly recommended.

I'm so glad that jeremy won the emmy for this . This episode is a masterpiece and should be taught in acting classes. This is how to build up a momentum and end a season ( still having ptsd from GOT).

I concur

Warning: Spoilers
I concur with all of these reviews. 10/10 episode.

Something I noticed: Logan has referred to Ken as "Judas" in past episodes, and as we all know, Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss on the cheek -- well, at the end of Ken and Logan's last meeting, Ken kissed him on the cheek. Far-fetched? I don't know, but I think that somewhere, Logan knew that Ken was going to betray him in the end. After all, Logan expressed earlier that he would like to take the hit and furthermore, he knew that the shareholders thought that he should.

Entirely beautiful episode that lets it all out on the table while being awkward and brilliant! Love so much about this business based show, I've grown to enjoy the characters and writing even more as it continues. The wonderful tension in the epilogue is quite glorious!!

You have to be a killer!
and_mikkelsen13 March 2023
A have previously praised the unpredictability of this show! This episode... does that in an earthshattering maner! I could feel my heart beating multiple times! TV Drama at its absolut FINEST! No words! The stakes were out of this world! Nothing will ever be the same! Consequences are to grave!

Incredible dialogues between the characters! Most nothworthy Shiv and Tom and Logan and Kendall! Jeremy Strong is the star after this! Powerfull performance! I got a bit emotional at times! I am almost proud he lives in Copenhagen Denmark, since I live close to there as well!

The writing is superb! One of the best drama shows i have seen! If the quality continues it could become one of my favorite shows!

The sun is rising!

So glad there's going to be a season three, but the series could have ended there and it would have been perfect anyway. I was fully hoping for what happened but fully surprised that it actually did. GO KEN!

This has been the best series of its genre. Forget Dallas or Dynasty, or even Billions, they pale into insignificance compared to the betrayals and doublecrossing found here.

Do yourself a favour and watch.

I can't wait for season 3
dr_maged7922 October 2019
It is amazing how the show manages to catch this sarcastic image of the upper class fight for power, the 'family' is like a pack of hyenas, all ready to betray each other.

Idk how many people actually realise this spectrum of the series, but each and every one of them is a type of snob or a caricature of great men - all are fake, they don't even know what's real anymore.

I liked the image of their yacht passing the 2 fishermen's boat. One inch of that yacht had more worth than the whole boat that helped them feed their family, but as humans - it was actually the other way around. Absolutely fantastic capture!

Stunning
rts-7782231 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Kendall finally becomes the killer Logan wishes he was. This episode contains so many gems of beautiful television; the acting, the writing, the direction and the cinematography.

The shot where the Roy's yacht comes into the picture overshadowing two humble fishermen in their small wooden boat was the perfect metaphor for how the Roys see themselves in comparison to your average man.

A perfect ending to a brilliant season. The final shot of Logan's smirk is amazingly ambiguous and left me on the edge of my seat and wanting more.

Tremendous season finale
rdmcflyers-9524720 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I was fully ready to never watch this show again when it appeared that Kendall was going to take the fall for the family. I hated that Shiv sold her brother out for that slimy moron she's married to who by all rights should've been fired because he was head of cruises. Watching Kendall tell his father that it was ok and he was willing to be sacrificed was amazing work. Every move after that was perfectly staged to one of the best season finales i've ever seen in a series. I'm all in on season 3 but have no idea how they will ever top this! Brian Cox is brilliant and they need to definitely lock him in for the remainder of the series. Great work by everyone in the cast.

One of the best shows ever

You never get tired of it regardless of all the side plots. The cast is just perfect and they're very like-able. The direction is on point as well and the story just evolves continuously. Definitely that HBO level show.

Succession's magnum opus.
bayleykedar18 November 2021
An absolutely brilliant episode. Perhaps not my absolute favourite, but it would be impossible to disregard this as anything lower than a 10/10, purely due to the writers' ability to successfully weave an entire season's worth of side stories, boiling tensions, character development into one breathtaking final scene, one that sets up Season 3 to, perhaps, be the best season yet.

I spoke on last season's finale as being cathartic, but I truly did not know the meaning of the word. This is the definition of catharsis. For two seasons I have watched and hoped to see an event of this scale, and it has finally arrived. In a way, I'm even more curious to see where the show goes next. I spent so long wishing for this to happen, now that I've got it I truly do not know what to do.

The entire cast were brilliant, as always. It was refreshing to see certain characters have the humanity within them brought out, and it was also refreshing to see certain characters finally escape the shells they've been hiding in all season. I cannot praise the writing enough. There truly is no 'action' in this show, not in the physical sense of the word. The conflicts, the drama, everything is spoken. To yield such an engaging, complex and dramatic narrative is a testament to the cast and crew of this show.

For me, the best episode of the show so far. A perfect setup to another season of Succession and the perfect way to put an end the events of the last ten episodes.
