Good episode with a bad side effect
jon-798-7682103 October 2020
This episode was pretty standard for The Blacklist, and I mean that in a good way. The only downside was Agent Park. The character is terrible, the acting is bad, and I hope she is dismissed as quickly as she was added.

Your loss

I am okay with Agent Park introduction, but (i thought the audiences can feel it to), miss Laura, why in hurry lassie? Just don't make Megan Boone act far more superior to others regulars.

I Like this way. I Like to hate horrendous Boone acting as Keen.

This episode is so strange --- in a bad way. What were the writers thinking????
JoeMcMiller3 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
They killed off the combat nurse, Francesca Campbell, for this new character, Agent Park, who seems rather unlikeable. And the trajectory for Francesca Campbell's character seems so ODD. They built up her storyline over the course of several episodes just to kill her off unceremoniously for a new character the audience doesn't know?

I don't understand what was the point of even including Francesca Campbell if she was going to be deposed off so quickly. And the writing seemed so inconsistent. Francesca Campbell's character seemed like a good natured nurse who helped Red, even though she was contracted to betray him, but in this episode her character makes a 180 and the writers just RECON her development and make her betray Red for money???? SLOPPY WRITING.

P.S. Francesca Campbell is physically bigger than Agent Park --- you aren't going to convince me that she won that fight. I call B.S.

Throw it all at the wall and see what sticks.

Warning: Spoilers
First and foremost in this absolutely all over the place episode is the infuriating relationship between the ever fumbling, milk toast persona of Aram and his new married paramour, Elodie the lunatic. How in the world of worlds does and FBI agent agree to break into a private residence with some woman he barely knows to have sex in the owners bedroom? In what universe does this happen? And then there's the Washington Monument moment? Come on, guys. This is just so patently ridiculous I almost want to hurl. As far as Park is concerned, I'm okay with her character if and only if I can trade Aram and Elodie. Then all I have to tolerate is Keen. Frankly, I think Dembe should play a far greater role in all of this, as the show gets back to the parade of quirky criminal types Red associates with as he goes about his game of cat and mouse with the bureau. If Park stays, fine. Like I said, take Aram and Elodie to off the air and keep punking Park with the spectacle violence. That one scene where she was introduced to Red was classic.

Script is unbelievable. Reddington and Keene not knowing the obvious is not part of their character.

Don't Know What to Make of It
Hitchcoc3 December 2022
So it's all about money and she fell for it. So Red needed to test the young woman. Of course, in fairness, she has flip-flopped about six times already. Park seems really tiresome and has this great mystery in Alaska (did she kill off a family of Eskimos or something?). Being Asian, of course she comes off like a ninja warrior. Aram and his new squeeze are into doing dangerous things. Not that puts them in physical danger, but Aram could lose his standing with the FBI because he can't keep his pants on. The episode was not satisfying to be quite honest. We also have Red again finishing off someone who betrayed him and washing his hands. By the way, where is Katarina? She's probably out drowning a litter of puppies.

Character didn't make much sense this episode.
louiepapp16 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Aram who hates breaking small rules commits a felony for kicks with his new girlfriend. Francesca who risks her life to save red because of her conscious; all of a sudden now turns on red for money. A new agent park wants to join the task force. Initially kisses ass then randomly becomes belligerent, cocky. Then decides she wants nothing to do with the task force. Also tries to murder a random stranger who could have been a victim of Reddingtons trying to get away. Suspension of believe is required for this show but when all the characters act out of character randomly it is a real let down.

Too many dislikeable characters
pmitsi-120 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The fact that Elodie twice escaped death and still continues to pursue dangerous situations was already making me disliking her. However, seeing smiling full of joy after she gets caught with Aram in that poor old lady's house make me wish she will be the next to betray Redington.

The same goes with Agent Park who the writers try to push down our throats. She is neither interesting, likeable or even logically consistent enough as to want to see her in another episode. They should just keep Francesca, a character introduced gradually and the audience learned to like.

Last but not least: The young Katarina Rostova was acted in perfection in all flashbacks, making us realizing her as a complex yet interesting and fascinating woman which we could not easily neither like r dislike. The elder Katarina Rostova though makes that dilemma much easier, being utterly annoying to watch. I find her disgusting, exactly the opposite of what I think about the youngest version of the same character.

Not impressed with Agent Park's Acting
wingman111119 February 2020
Bit disappointed with casting of new charactor Agent Park. Very woody, over dramatic and not much of a repertoire of facial expressions! It kinda runied this episode for me. Shame as series is generally so enjoyable.

What Did I Just Watch?
Anonnamus3 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I love this show. Love it. The writing, the action, and even the wooden acting and monotone facial expressions of the lead actress has grown on me over the seasons. This one was a complete train wreck.

I was growing fond of Francesca and hoped she would be a regular part of the Reddington empire. Unfortunately it was obvious from the very start that her "abduction" was in fact a setup by Red to test her loyalty. She failed spectacularly. I kept hoping she would find some way to warn Red over the phone, perhaps by some odd phrase that would tip him off to the fact he was walking into a trap, but nope. Suddenly she decided she could be bribed (a complete turnaround from the guilt she felt from just a couple short episodes ago) and met her fate. Waste of what could have been a wonderful character.

Now we introduce what has to be the product of some online talent scout audition in which there were only three participants, the woman playing new agent Park. I cringed with every line she spoke, as she delivered them as if she was hurrying to get to the next one, with hardly any inflection. I'd comment on her facial expressions, but she had none. At all. Almost like her entire face overdosed on Botox. I can say that I will never ever ever ever say another negative thing about the acting skills of Megan Boone. She's an Academy Award-worthy actress compared to whomever this new lady is. Perhaps that was the actual intent of the producers. Either way, she at least got a little more interesting when she went full-on psycho against Francesca, but not enough for me to want to watch her again. Hopefully she disappears in the next episode.

Aram. I love this guy. Loved his character from day one. He is the mild-mannered nerd, the tech genius who can do anything. The guy with the heart of gold, who happened to have had it broken last season. This season he has been turned into a badass with serious moves, seemingly out of nowhere. He was freaking James Bond in the episode where he had to save Elodie. I suspended my disbelief, because hey. He could have went through training and perhaps Samar was teaching him things we just didn't see. Whatever. But now he's sleeping with a married woman and breaking laws? I understand he's on a downhill spiral but it's too much too fast. Don't corrupt our sweet Aram. Pull him back before he gets too deep. I somehow think it was Elodie who was into that whole Defiance mess, and her husband was collateral damage. They do have tons of chemistry together, though.

And now the Baddie of the Week is a sentient AI? Really though? It also did nothing to progress the Katarina Rostova story arc, and almost seemed to be a plot device to introduce that god-awful new agent. I already forgot what happened.

As for the good parts, there were a few. It is always wonderful seeing Teddy, and the banter between Dembe and Teddy was hilarious. I love everyone involved with Red, and that includes Dontae. Red inspires loyalty from everyone around him, deservedly so.

I'm not really feeling this season. Katarina Rostova, the myth that has been mentioned repeatedly over the course of the last few seasons is nothing but annoying. Even more annoying is Ms. FBI Agent trained to observe every detail around her and trust no one (for FFS, it took like 5 seasons for her to finally trust Red) immediately feel kinship with the mysterious stranger who suddenly moved in and replaced a resident who had been there for years and let her in her home and babysit her daughter. You're doing extensive background checks on prospective nannies but you let a lady you don't know hang out in your house? Especially when you know an unknown woman is somehow involved in hurting those people in your circle? Really? Also, Red is almost obsessive with protecting Liz. The fact he is unaware of anyone new living in her building, much less across the hall seems highly unlikely to me. I hope Liz learns her true identity soon, I can't stop being annoyed by it all.

Feels like they audience tested two characters, then chose the wrong one.
jessup-8644622 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The low points in this show usually come about when they step away from the political thriller genre and into the science fiction one; the most recent example of this being the ridiculous assassin beetles. But this one strains the suspension bridge of disbelief to the breaking point with a forgettably foggy plotline about a killer AI program, bogged down further with hammy or lazy acting from the entire cast. To fill the vacancy left by the unforgettable Samar Navabi, it seems they opted to write out the wonderful Frankie Campbell in favour of writing in the godawful Agent Park. Introduced in the first episode of the season, Frankie had enough history with Reddington that it would be easy to neatly tie her into the show, and the actress playing her had enough chops to stand across from James Spader and hold her own. Comparatively, the painfully sanctimonious 'Agent Park' came out of nowhere story-wise, and I'm afraid the actress portraying her isn't good enough to hold Red's hat. If this were the pilot episode, the show would have been DOA. 1/10 Stars. Worst episode of the entire series, hands down.

Whats up with Laura Sohn?!?
dogvilledk9 November 2019
It seems like Laura Sohn/agent Park was in a big hurry to show of ALL her acting skills......didn't work. Her entrance ruined the episode for me, and if her character keeps up being so unnatural, I fear for the show itself. #soapoperavibes

Possibly the Worst Episode
tunapus-5527722 September 2020
Of the entire show, I have never heard such bad dialogue. AI and the singularity? Really?! Sheer desperation. Also, Agent Park going nuts and then claiming she's not "as" brutal. I get the irony but SO poorly executed. Just disappointed.

Laura Sohn is a liability to an otherwise amazing cast
twosongs1 October 2020
"Actress" Laura Sohn Is a Liability and an insult to your otherwise outstanding cast.

Your show is absolutely brilliantly written, directed and performed but this new actress Laura Sohn sucks, I'm sorry. She cannot act. We FEEL, SEE and even HEAR her acting. She's distracting, lowering the top notch quality of your show.

Park - I hate her...
shredrik17 January 2021
...and it's only been one episode!

Not the worst episode, but definitely not the best either. Are the script writers bored or something? Not impressed. And I hope agent Park is killed off very soon.

Agent Park does not work
mluinstra4 November 2022
Seriously? This chick who is maybe 5 feet tall and 85 pounds is going to be the next field agent for the task force? Any random high school kid could take her lunch money, but she is fine to do field work and go up against 250 pound guys who are trained killers? I'm all for diversity, but let's make it half way believable.

A strong breeze will put this chick on her ass, yet we are to believe that out of ALL of the choices for a new field agent, THIS is who they picked? Yes, let's go with the tiny Asian chick, give her a gun and badge. Not too big of a gun because the recoil could put her in the hospital.

The Show Lost Me In This Episode
phatboyscott27 January 2021
This has to be the weirdest, messiest, most confusing and confounding episode of The Blacklist ever. It was as if the writers were in a rush to transition to a new character and completely change an existing character that none of it seemed remotely plausible.

I haven't seen any spoilers at all, but it strikes me that Aram's new mental girlfriend is definitely a mole and why they rushed to extinguish Red's new, temporary sidekick, who the writers gave no depth or goal, to present a new sidekick with instantly worryingly mental tendencies is bizarre. Maybe the diversity police required an Asian main character instead of another black one?

Please Stop With The Sylvester Stallone Fake Action Scenes.

The goofy cartoon confetti explosions ...the cheap fake flames coming out of guns ...the grainy jerky camera scenes. They ruin what had been a great show.
