Plot Summary

Seeking escape and inspiration, Agatha Christie travels to Baghdad on an archaeological tour. What she finds is turmoil: the world's biggest oil field has just been discovered and Iraq's ancient treasures are under threat. Agatha also finds a charming, naive young archaeologist, Max, who needs her help as a series of murders unfold in the faded grandeur of the villa where they are staying. Has Agatha met her match? Goofs In the first scene with Agatha and some guests on a dinner table one of the male guests is smoking a filter cigarette. Although, the cigarette filter was invented in 1925, filter cigarettes were not introduced into the market until 1936. As the movie in located in 1928 there is no way filter cigarettes would have been available. See more »

Quotes Max Mallowan: Do I know you?
Agatha Christie: No, we've never met.
Max Mallowan: I'm sure we have.
Agatha Christie: Well, sometimes people think they've met me. It's an unfortunate consequence of being a bit famous.
Max Mallowan: [impressed] You're famous? Let me guess... You're the wife of a well-known politician?
Agatha Christie: [unimpressed] No. I'm not famous by marriage.
Max Mallowan: You're a well-known home-economist. Like Mrs. Beeton?
Agatha Christie: No, I'm not famous for my practical housekeeping.
Max Mallowan: I've got it. You're an actress!
[Agatha laughs]
Max Mallowan: . Retired of course...
Agatha Christie: [offended] My name is Agatha Christie. I'm a writer.
Max Mallowan: No, sorry. Never heard of you.
