A well told sensitively handled documentary about a group of single women looking to have a baby. Their choices are complicated, uncertain, expensive and filled with a lot of high tech science. The remarkable thing is that Ms. O'Rourke manages to keep everything on a human and heart-filled level. The characters were well chosen - especially "Betsy" and her parents who come to represent all parents with their initial disapproval of their daughter's decision to use donor sperm and artificial insemination as her method for achieving motherhood. The scene with her mom practicing with a blanket wrapped doll is priceless. Another emotionally wrenching storyline is that of the lesbian couple who, after all options are exhausted are turned down by a fertility clinic because of their sexual orientation. The stories are expertly woven throughout and I challenge any man or women to watch this through with a dry eye.
