Renée Zellweger in New in Town (2009)

Goofs

New in Town

Edit

Continuity

Stu gets fired shortly after Lucy arrives in November, but appears on the plant floor after Bobbie's Valentine's Day Dance date. There is a montage of plant floor images that shows him there. It is 58 minutes into the movie.
When Lucy returns the tapioca bowl, Blanche takes it back at the front door. Later, Lucy carries it through to the kitchen.
During the opening sequence, Lucy wears some very trendy red high heels. When she gets off the elevator in her office, the businesswoman next to her is carrying them.
Renee Zellwegger's expression and pose when her photo is taken in the car are different in the photo that appears in the scrap book.
When Lucy first arrives, she struggles to put one of her brown suitcases in the front top position of a heavily loaded luggage cart. A few seconds later, the brown suitcase has moved underneath a black one. It's possible there is a missing scene where the suitcases fall off and she rearranged them. Without such a scene, the rearrangement makes no sense.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

When Lucy has to go to the bathroom outdoors while bird shooting and Ted tries to unzip her snowsuit, she tells Ted "hurry" and "just hurry." To some, it sounds like she says "Harry," the name of the actor playing Ted. This occurs thirty-six minutes before the end of the movie.

Revealing mistakes

When Lucy jogs at the beginning along the shore, there is a boat on the horizon. The same scene is replayed near the end, after her time in New Ulm.
The Minnesota license plates shown in the movie have a combination of letters and numbers in one grouping. A standard Minnesota license plate groups 3 numbers and 3 letters separately.
When Lucy arrives in Minnesota it is supposed to be November but the weather that is shown is consistent of January/February weather. It does not snow that heavily at the beginning of November in Minnesota.

Miscellaneous

When Ted brings Lucy home drunk, she refers to him as a sexy fireman. However he never mentioned he was a fireman so she couldn't have known that.

Errors in geography

Opening shots of New Ulm include Manitoba highway signs. Manitoba is over 300 miles from New Ulm.
New Ulm is not "a few miles down the road" from the Mayo Clinic; it's over 100 miles away. Minneapolis and St. Paul are larger and closer to the Clinic.

Plot holes

There is no need for Lucy to compile a termination list on paper. In this day and age she could have easily compiled something as confidential as such a list in a pass worded file on her laptop.

Boom mic visible

When Ted is discusses severance compensation on the phone, the boom is visible.
