New Channel 4 comedy Free Agents got off to a slow start in the ratings on Friday night, being beaten by an old episode of Rab C Nesbitt. Agents, starring Stephen Mangan, Anthony Head and Sharon Horgan, drew 1.26m (6.5%) between 10pm and 10.30pm. The six-part series follows the on-off relationship between a couple of showbiz agents. It was outdone by an episode of the Scottish comedy that was first aired almost ten years ago, with 1.34m (6.9%) over the same period. ITV1 had 1.19m (6.7%) for the hour with a new episode of Pushing Daisies, and on Five, Numb3rs took 1.05m (5.9%). The final episode in the current run of Trial & Retribution helped ITV1 win the 9pm hour, with an average of 4.93m (21.7%). BBC One's Qi interested 4.03m (17.5%) in the first half of the hour, then Not Going Out kept 3.16m (14.1%). (more)...

Sharon Horgan and Stephen Mangan have apparently justified the use of swearing in their new show Free Agents. Horgan told Pa that the bad language was essential to ensure character realism in the Channel 4 comedy, which follows two talent agents and their boss (Anthony Head).
