Puts the guilt in guilty pleasure
RobTortureWright27 August 2022
I'm almost ashamed to admit it but I genuinely had some fun while playing Saints Row.

From huge YouTubers like Skill up to major companies like IGN, the reviews are almost entirely negative surrounding this game, and while I totally disagree on people giving this a 10/10 I also equally disagree with the 1/10 reviews. I'm going to break down what worked and what didn't for me and why I found myself enjoying it while still being fully aware of its glaring mistakes.

Bugs: This is the perfect topic to start with, most of the negativity surrounding Saints Row comes from the "overwhelming list of bugs" however most of these issues seem to stem from the PC version of the game while my time on Xbox Series X was relatively bug free. Let me say however the first bug I encountered was right at the start of the game when making your "boss". Upon trying to edit my character the game soft locked me and I could not exit, select or do anything apart from zoom in and out and spin my character. Not a good start at all. I had to resort to loading up the "boss factory" game which allows you to create your character and export them to the full game. This would easily put off the casual gamer who would request a refund. Not a good look to start with. Once the game loaded into the first mission however I progressed normally. The second and only other bug I encountered was a clothing bug which removed your color choices on your characters clothing whenever you purchased a new item. This was mildly frustrating as you had to redo your color choices for your characters outfits each time. Again this was patched in the first update for the game since launch. I was pleasantly surprised that all of the takedown animations showed normally as what I seen online was nonstop comically awkward buggy animations when PC users initiated takedowns.

Story: 5/10 Too short and the storyline is hampered by awful writing and even worse characters who make even the strongest person cringe up into a ball every time they speak. Story missions themselves were relatively fun with lots of action and some cool transitions where a variety of scenarios play out. Particularly like the feature that allows you to start a story mission from anywhere on the map simply by selecting it from your phone, this is an idea other open worlds should take note of.

Writing: 0/10 Probably the worst writing of any game I've ever played. Not only do they fall flat on their face when it comes to trying to tell "jokes" but the game is infected deeply by agenda pushing politically motivated writing that inserts corrupt real world views into a fictional game. This is slimey and manipulative on the highest of levels and every person who does so in all forms of media deserve to be called out for their twisted actions which only serve to fuel the flames of an already turbulent society. Phrases spoke by pedestrians such as "I'm not paying for a border wall" only act to divide and draw you out of the fictional game and leave you feeling anger at how this has became extremely common in modern media especially within video games and movies. Fortunately the media who push these agendas almost always fail and that's what we see with the backlash to this game.

Characters: 1/10 Honestly laughable. Awkward and hysterically bad writing leaves these characters among the most hated in all of gaming based on the online feedback. I have seen nobody who enjoyed these characters or found them entertaining whatsoever.

Map: 8/10 Fantastic. A great sized map that's finds itself in the Goldilocks zone wherein it's big enough to explore and constantly find new areas while also being small enough to makes travelling from one side to the other relatively quick and not a 30 minutes drive like some other games.

The various zones are all unique and offer some great landmarks that really stand out and make the game feel very unique. Cool little features like NPC's setting off fireworks while you drive past especially at night is a nice little addition that I haven't seen in any other game. Nice weather such as sandstorms and was very impressed with the day/night cycle and how it looked with HDR on.

Graphics: 8/10 This is where I disagree with most reviews I've seen. Most say the graphics's aren't great but on Xbox Series X the visuals were very good in my opinion. Brilliant HDR effects and some of the most realistic nighttime scenes I've witnessed in a game. The neon world lights up beautifully and the detail in most of the world and characters is very high. Also the graphics options were brilliant, giving you full control of what mode you wanted to play with 5 different settings to chose from. Personally I went for 1440p Max Framerate as it offers great visuals while trying to also maintain 60fps.

Side missions: 7/10 Can totally see where people are coming from when they say these are repetitive and not fulfilling but from someone who is very OCD and simply has to complete every task in a game these offered the right blend of variety and challenge to keep me playing for a lot longer in-between main missions. Particularly liked the review bomb missions where you leave a bad review for a business and they send lots of bad guys to your location to take you out. These can be pretty difficult early on especially if you dive in at the deep end and leave a 1 star review.

Driving: 6/10 Marmite driving where some will absolutely hate it but I found myself pleasantly surprised. Very arcadey and floaty cars but the addition of the drift and "quick turn" mechanic made it fun to try and master drifting round corners and land the perfect turn. If done successfully you feel like Han from Tokyo drift but if done wrong you plow straight into a wall or off the road. I guess that progression and desire to improving my driving made me appreciate it overall but I do understand people who disliked it. One thing I didn't enjoy was off road driving and most cars instability on this surface.

Gunplay: 6/10 Very average gunplay but I found myself tweaking a few settings, specifically deadzones from 30 down to 10 which improved the shooting experience. I enjoyed the variety of weapons and each felt somewhat unique and having their own special ability adds another level of progression and gameplay. The addition of character perks allow you to experiment with different options such as nades, proximity mines, special takedowns or a health boost. This again adds a little bit more variety however like every games gunplay it does get repetitive when you've played long enough.

Customisation: 10/10 Easily the best part about Saints Row and some of the best customisation I've experienced in any game. Not only is there lots of clothing options for your character to choose from but you can fully change every little detail from color of specific regions of that shirt or pair of jeans but also add different materials. The variety of clothing is also amazing. The same is true for car customisation which is honestly better than most standalone racing games. The options are so large that I can't name them all here but you can change every single little detail of your car including things like rims and rim color, interior, window tint, decals, NoS, off road upgrades, tow attachments and so much more. The variety in paint options was superb and it truly felt like you were creating a totally unique car every time you modified your vehicle. Offering overall car upgrades which improves them in multiple areas such as armor, speed and handling is very nice to have and the option to turn your cars special ability on or off is something that works well. Weapon modifications was just as in depth with a fantastic set of sliders such as metallic which allows you to use the slider to make your weapon look like a nerf gun or like a realistic metal weapon. Particularly liked the option to make your guns gold right from the start without any nasty microtransactions like other games would do.

Music and sound: 4/10 Very poor choice of songs that consists mainly of lesser known artists and music that simply wasn't to my taste. When the radio isn't on the soundtrack that plays is acceptable and offers something other than silence which is nice. The sound itself is very poorly implemented and feels completely off. From vehicle engines sounding ultra quiet to guns sounding non impactful and poorly recorded the sound as a whole feels like it was added by someone who is triggered by loud noises. Certain game audio needs to be ramped up about 2 times especially when it comes to car engines. The character audio is laughably bad and it sounds like the voices belong in a different game. You can clearly hear that the audio was recorded in a sound booth even when the scene calls for speech while someone is outside or talking over ambient noise. Not great at all. 100% needs a patch to adjust levels.

Overall: 6/10 A wild variety of absolutely awful writing, a poor story, embarrassingly cringey characters, but a game that features some decent and fun gameplay, simply astounding customisation and a great map. This leaves Saints Row in such a unique place in my gaming library. A game that I hope fails miserably to stop the disgusting push of political views and agendas into fictional media, to stop companies from releasing a game early to make a quick buck even though it's not fully finished, and to hopefully push the team at Volition to go back to the drawing board and put their full effort into making a much improved Saints Row should they be given the chance. As much as I want to hate this game and everything it stands for I have to admit I found fun along the way and in the future if this game is heavily discounted and several updates have taken place to fix some annoyances and bugs then I would recommend this for some of the most casual base level fun you can have with a game. 6/10.

Gat out of hell reboot?
mailgamingu12 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Let's first say good job on most graphics. That about covers the good thing to say about the game. Where to even begin on the rest of the game? Well, the story wasn't entirely bad but the games main focus of being over the top stupid; pushing past boundaries of sanity and then running down that hole seems to sum up the mindset of this game and how it was put together. No real character development. However, the game decided to really go deep into developing the really idiotic eli story of playing fake war with other idiots who are all adults acting like 8 year olds. It's like you must fry your brain on acid for a minimum of 1 decade to even fully understand what they were thinking the whole game development. Vehicles that rip themselves apart after going over a bump. Being thrown like a ragdoll threw a windshield after a collision going 10 mph. Even using the games own cheat to restore your vehicle it only restores hit points and doesn't restore the look of the vehicle. Door and hood are still missing from running over a pothole. You do lengthy missions that reward you almost nothing. If you literally just stand still and do nothing for 10 seconds so you can collect what your empire pays you; you will earn what the mission that takes 30 minutes pays you. Then is bounce your body off of towers and things in a wingsuit so you can plant something on it as you crush your body to death being a retard. Well, you don't die in the game because that would follow logic and what happens every time you use a wingsuit and crash into things in real life. It's whole design is just so stupid and needlessly over the top like gat out of hell that they have destroyed their own game like fools. Now we begin to see into the mindset of a spoiled privileged psychopath who cannot see that spending so much time and money building something to instantly destroy it is foolish. They are not capable because they are to narcissistic to care or even see an issue with what they are doing. Now that trying to understand their mindset is covered let's get back to more game issues. It's decided that the team needs a base and not an apartment...check. But instead of you remodeling the base, improving the base, designing the base...no it's magically done for you after completing a mission. However, you get trinkets and other stupid things as you play and you can place meaningless stupid junk in set places inside your base and a couple spots outside your base. What fool decided that placing junk instead of slowing growing and upgrading your empire was the better choice? Why collect vehicles and upgrade them when 99% of the time the game forces you to use whatever vehicle they want you to use for a mission. Right..brain fried on drugs now let's use the mind of a teenager and now it's clear that upgrading and spending 200 thousand on a vehicle to just drive around in makes sense. The game with it's current graphics could be great, but someone else who is capable will have to be put in charge of development. You can't fix stupid. How about you make this game with real characters and then really develop each of their stories with a really talented writer not some loser that's a yes man to Hollywoods whimsical foolishness. Then gets some talented developers to make it great. Where what your working for actually matters and developing it matters. Not this garbage that honestly feels like it's computer generated and then with a few minor adjustments it's marketed as game. You need to beat the game and save money for awhile to place saints tower. All missions are done so there is only doing the obserd over the top things like killing yourself bouncing off buildings and calling and starting wars like a band of morons now so who wants to continue now? It's anticlimactic at it's best. You have worked so hard this week and bit your tongue at the foolish design of our game and your reward is to show you what you should have been able to earn awhile ago. Doesn't matter when your objective is to take people's hard earned money for a garbage game and run like bandits to repeat the process. This game has zero replayability and no way with it's current leadership to make a great game. It's almost like developers have this secret agreement to make games using the least amount of money and talent; and then seeing how much they can charge for it or how long gamers will tolerate it.

Its stupid fun
apfelmitwurm26 August 2022
I never liked the saints row character or story. I dont do so this time. And i dont care. The cringe fun dialogue, arcade gameplay, blowing stuff up... It works as a letting steam off game. Graphics are okayish, nothing state of the art, not too bad eighter. World is not extremly big but enough room for making insane stuff happening. The synchro is nice, the voice i chose sounds great.

I reall enjoy playing it. I dont see too much wokeness. You cant choose a gender, still was able to create a male and female, so what. I did not encounter major bugs till now. Its proper funny crazyness. Probably wont think about it anymore in a year but for now, its great.

About 6h into the game and booooooored
brian_liska27 August 2022
It's an origin story, that's great.

It's an open world, that's great.

It's repetitive, bland, humorless, quirk-less, powerless and a chore to work through the same tired side missions which end up being stripped down versions of previous versions of the same style activities.

I was so excited for a new Saints Row, by looking at the box art and watching the trailers it's a fast paced quirky game with the charm and humor of Saints Row 2, 3 and GooH, it's not that.

Combat is slow but twitchy getting stun locked or completely overrunning enemies after upgrading any weapons, the activities are just scavenger hunts with look through the area and click on the buttons or try to figure out what's a target and what's scenery.

Bad, in all things gameplay, story and character development.

so disappointing
merem16 September 2022
This game is terrible. It has the worst characters. I didn't like them. The game has many problems. I was bored throughout the experience. This may be the end of the franchise. I don't want to see these Saints again. The old saints from the other games would destroy these weak new saints. The people who made this game didn't care. They made something awful. There were moments during my playthrough when I was thinking "what is this garbage?" We want things to be entertaining and fun. We don't want this trash. It's time to wake up and learn. It's frustrating that there are games full of bugs these days. Finish the games when making them. We don't want something half finished.

Fun
yusye-2182224 June 2023
Definitely not a perfect game by any means, but it'a not as bad as I think some folks have said. Probably the biggest problem with Saints Row 2022 is the price tag. A $60 price tag sets the expectation that this is a AAA release game on par with other major developers, and it fails to meet that expectation.

But ignoring that, the game is actually very fun. Varying sidequests, a big open world that rewards exploration, and many more features. I think the game is definitely an improvement on older features, the characters feel more human (at least for a Saints Row title), the combat is diversified, you make actual decisions as the boss, the city has varying atmospheres and cultures, and much more.

If this game were made in 2012-2016, it'd probably have had better reception. But because it was released as a competitor to major titles like God of War and Hogwarts Legacy, games it cannot compete with. But taken as its own game, with a smaller price tag, its pretty good. Definitely a fun game.

I wonder if I'll get paid....
austinlang-3429028 August 2022
For play testing the most technically broken and narratively indecisive game ever conceived. The fact that Saints Row 3 looks like Grand theft Auto 6 next to this game speaks volumes. Let's break it down:

Story: 1/10- seriously, the standard isn't high for a saints game but there was nothing semi relatable about this game. I don't know anyone who is anything like a single character imagined in this game.

Graphics: 3/10- Being from the Southwest I would say there are mountains and vistas that can be visually striking (at times) but the fact that this game supports 4k at about 6 frames per second and the only way to get smooth gameplay is by playing in 1080p is unacceptable for a 2022 game. If it was an indie studio I would be more understanding but overall, it's like they didn't even try. Bland environments, stiff animations, muddy textures, you name it.

Gameplay: Same Mission over and over and over and over again. "Activities"

Well I'm enjoying it !
jenjarvis-5260625 August 2022
When I first started to play it I wasn't all that pulled in. It took a few hours to invest and unlock but once I got going I was really enjoying it ! Sure it has some bugs but it's not as bad as Gat out of Hell (wtf was that?) and yes it's different but they took a chance. Play it for yourself. Don't listening to all the negative. It's not that bad.

So much potential...
paul-magnus-1603912 March 2024
You can tell that the game came out unfinished. Everything is flooded with bugs. Story is okay but the bugs ruin it. I actually love the Saints Row series but this has ruined the whole good reputation. You can also see that Volition is closed. I also think that it only becomes fun after a certain part. But the $7 is worth it. Now that I've finished playing, I don't feel like continuing to play the game. Hope there's a new one coming soon Saints Row out which has fewer bugs and is also fun. One thing that has to be said though is that the character creation is very good. You can edit a lot. Like I said, they don't need to make a music app and use their time and money in better things.

Instant Refund
Hazu2923 August 2022
Probably the worst game ever made.

There are no positive points... it's all a mess. Cringe writing, no story, ridiculous gameplay, awful characters. Childish jokes, and a lot of Zoomers Propaganda.

The Original Saints Row games weren't masterpieces, but they were fun to play, we would spend a couple of hours laughing playing the game. Epic scenes, awesome characters, extreme gameplay, customization without limits. They got rid of all of that... censorship and limitations. It's a very bad game made by and for a very small group of people, former Tumblr users.

Even if they fix the thousands of bugs... it's still awful.

Again. Very bad game.

Different but still the same
josephwarner-9055226 August 2022
When I first played this, I heard of the bugs and glitches and how bland it was. However, 4 days in at the time of this writing, I found that despite the attempt to modernize, it was still a saints game in spirit and mind. It took certain elements of each game and added a hint of just cause. Sure it's a little buggy, but it just adds to the havoc.

Mindless fun with a bunch of fun characters
rhiltonreeves5 October 2023
This game is overhated in my opinion. It's not a year defining game or anything but it's fun and kind of reminds me of sunset overdrive with certain directions they took with some missions, dialogue and character designs. The story is short and silly and doesn't waste time, can't give it too much slack as I legitimately enjoyed it.

The character customisation is amazing, it's the first time I've ever been able to make a character in a game that has actually bore some kind of resemblance to myself. Vehicle customisation was also a great feature for me as I spent way too much time making fun colourful cars and tanks. I would recommend this game to someone who just wants to have some mindless fun.

This ain't it chief. Should of just made a new IP or gone back to the roots of the saints series instead of being a clone of watch dogs 2 mixed in with fortnite.

Just awful
benpage19853 September 2022
When I saw there was a reboot of the SR franchise I was all over it, the trailer looked awesome so I was happy to preorder. 10 hours of disappointment. I kept playing in hope the game was a bit slow to get started and that the repetitive nature would get broken up with something a bit more fun, before this could happen I had completed the game.

The story was so uninspired, so dull, nothing of note really happens, what the hell were the larp missions all about? Although to be fair they added a tiny amount of fun to the game. Every mission, every side mission is exactly the same (save for the relentlessly boring venture missions, which I only persevered with to unlock main story missions - omg the toxic waste one!!). Each mission takes you somewhere to kill a group of witless, terrible AI enemies. Same enemies each mission, just might be a few more or a few less. Oh and the repetitive one liners "you shoulda stayed at home with mama" urgh.

So in conclusion, I loved SR1, 2 and 3 (not so much 4 but it was outrageous which gave it something at least), this is a train wreck worse than that of the one in the game. If you are a lover of all things SR, avoid this, its like a really, really, really terrible rip off of GTA5!!!

WAIT BEFORE YOU BUY READ THIS
heidi-1041121 September 2022
Don't shoot the messenger but this is another bad review, I am a long time fan of the series and have played each title from Saints Row 2006 to the current Saints Row 2022. To other fans reading this. Do not bother with this title instead poor one out tonight because another beloved IP is dead. This game is sanitized charmless souless boring and buggy piece of malarkey. Every previous title is better. The prologue starts off after you customize the new boss. Quickly after the action takes off you start to see it, and feel it. Shooting is odd and just as quirky as your life is stange' + watch dog' style roommates. I swear each character was born strait out of twiter and reddit. The repetitive bullet sponge enemies have the worst AI in the series. The city is boring. At least the characters are relatable, well not so fast I would never talk like that and I myself am a genZer. No gangster ever would talk like that. Oh right this isn't a gangster game really. If the developers were really so fed up with the blatant honesty and crude humor and every other core Saints Row aspect and didn't want to be limited by the past of the previous franchise they should have opened a new IP. Not drop this piece of garbage and paint a beloved name on it. Even if they managed that amount of respect they clearly fail at every thing else. I wish I never bought this garbage and this lie. I bought 1 and two just days later. If you want to relive the glory days don't bother with 2022. There just isn't an aspect with praising in the game besides vehicle customization. The venture system was an empty and washed out way to revive more beloved activities that will just leave any one unimpressed. This game is begging you to drink the koolade and except mediocrity. This is a AAA game that a developer owned by 3 publishing company and ran by marketing teams. F this game. Its not worth 60 dollars and definetly not 70 or 100 dollars. Don't buy it borrow it maybe play it on game pass if you want to see what I mean.

Sterilized saints
Rokkid25 August 2022
When it comes to "Saints from the third street" you are not expecting a GTA clone at all. You are waiting for a new heart-breaking story, a story without a frame. Such were the previous parts. They not only ridiculed all the stereotypes of people, but based on new trends, films, other games, the charisma of heroes and antagonists, the fearlessness of the script - they created an incredible cocktail. A cocktail where each of the flavors was brought to maximum sharp tones, but the harmony created an incredible taste. There is no new part of it. She is boring, uninteresting. This is when anticipation turned into disappointment. You can play (although there are a lot of bugs), but this is not a continuation of the series ((( 3/10.

You would be better off buying saints row 2
danielpaulwatkinson20 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Such a disappointment. You cant customize crew properly, or the crew cars, and you cant get your crew to follow you, only main characters, and the customizations on the hangouts and property is very poor. Saints row 1 and 2, which are over a decade old and are so much better and have much more options and choices in regards to customization. Very dissatisfied with this game. I'd recommend buying or replaying saints row 1 and 2 instead. Sadly, it seems they have gone backward with this game, and not made improvements but instead taken things away that made saints row, saints row. Played for a week then traded into Cex, due to the constant disappointment.

The Purple Shirt Mafia!
eaton_214 September 2022
I've just completed the game and it has definitely become one of my favourite Saints Row games. I enjoyed it from start to finish. Loved the exploration and additional features and loved the new characters. The setting was a nice change and had some beautiful scenery. The story really captivated me and I know this game has been getting some bad reviews due to glitches and the direction of the game but honestly, I don't know where these reviews are coming from because the game is stunning. It's no GTA but we know that from previous installments, it is what it is, a Saints Row game. It had the same dynamic and layout of previous games and I loved it! Really hope we get DLC for this game. But with the bad reviews coming out left right and centre then it's becoming unlikely.

Not a Saints Row game
UltraN0V424 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Map: 5/10 Story: 2/10 Coop Features: 2/10

In this "reboot," Volition mainly introduced cringe-worthy characters and dialogue that stray far from the essence of any Saints Row installment. The unexpected absence of key features like 4-player co-op, cheats, and customization, which were prevalent in previous titles, is disappointing. One would anticipate a reboot to reintroduce these old features.

The new "crew" of Saints takes pleasure in activities like drinking chocolate milk, larping, and even getting kidnapped. However, the campaign lacks the impactful moments seen in previous games, such as taking down Dane Vogal, avenging Aisha/Carlos, and building a gang. Notably, the only character resembling a true tough gang member is ironically the final boss. His sudden change in character and motives feels unnatural. At the end, his desire to take over the Saints and lead the life of the boss is puzzling, given that he already possesses his own gang and crew from the outset.

The character development among the main set of friends is lacking. One might hope that they evolve and grow stronger in the face of loss, similar to Jason Brody in Far Cry 3 (2012). Regrettably, they remain dependent on the player and require saving in the last mission. If these friends can be kidnapped within their own headquarters, surrounded by numerous Saints, it raises questions about their suitability for street life.

Beyond the underwhelming story, Santo Illeso's world offers a desert sandbox but falls short in terms of interactive elements. The vibrant colors and diverse districts provide variety compared to Steelport. However, the map remains smaller and less detailed than Saints Row 2 (2008). Notably, few buildings grant access indoors apart from a handful of stores. It's worth mentioning the limited availability of services like Rim Jobs. Constantly driving across the map just to save a single car becomes tiresome. The expectation was that Volition would blend the best aspects of Sr2 and Sr3 to deliver a more comprehensive experience.

Revisiting iconic features like Freckle B*tches drive-thru, purchasing a 40oz at the gas station, and customizing new houses, which were prevalent in older titles, was anticipated. In order to recapture the essence of the earlier games, Volition should heed the feedback of their original fans. After all, they have successfully achieved this in the past. With improved listening and attention to their core fan base, they have the potential to create another hit like they have before.

This feels watered down with all the censorship, there's nothing fun anymore, no cheats to make it crazy and gone is the insanity and filth that made the older games so wonderful. This is lame and a joke, I regret pre ordering it, can't get a refund for this garbage.

It even has a dance party at the end.
passan-806709 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
We have to remember what defines a Saints Row game.

I will exclude gameplay as there are hundreds of videos online that perfectly demonstrate how much less this product is to even the third game.

I am talking about the gangs and the characters. SR1 is probably one of the best written games of all times.

Just think back at the revelation that Troy is a cop. Dex dropping his flags. The respectful tone of Ben. King. The hypocricity AND truth behind Julius' speech before he died. The protective way Molero talked about his boys. Vogels development plan. Carlos' death. There is a lot to talk about. An insane amount of research, thought and care was put in the characters and their journey. Every playthrough will have a new nuance you have never noticed. I promise.

I do not see anything of quality in this product. Everything and everybody is forgettable. Just one note caricatures. The gangs have no personality beyond, one gang is strong, the other has numbers and the last one is a hard copy of Stag. There is no fun in paying attention to anything.

This product was clearly not written by humans. The "humor" is what an AI would write. But most importantly, they missed what defined Saints Row. This is NOT a Saints Row game. It misses what made 3 and 4 fun and what made 1 and 2 outstanding.

Now the rest: The script is bad. The majority of dialogue is meaningless. Just wasting time with unfunny ... things. Game is insanely ugly. Sound design is bad. Lighting is bad. Code is bad, to many bugs. Environment is ugly. Voice acting is below average.

It blows my mind how people defend this product. Did they really disliked the previous games that much?

This product is a cheaper version of a game you have played before. GTA, Watchdogs, Matrix tech-demo, SAINTS ROW, you name it. Worse than many Ubisoft product. This Product has no purpose to exists and considering there is NOTHING that it has in common with a Saints Row game, I call it a scam. I want to talk to the AI that pitched this product.

Now go and look up game play comparisons between this product and a game.

Tame Nonsense

I loved the original Saints Row series, so I was thrilled to see that this series was being redone. I was excited for ridiculous mini games and it's particular brand of crude humor. This has literally none of that.

This game is what happens when you hand over a game series that is beloved because it's raucous and ridiculous to a bunch of people who are scared to offend people. All of the humor is gone, replaced with a bunch of boring side-kicks who complain unfunnily about capitalism and paying off student loans.

It plays okay, but there's NOTHING in it that makes you want to keep playing.

I don't know what this is, but it is not a Saints Row game. It's trash made with a bunch of bad Gen Z stereotypes with the hope that the pride flags slapped around the town will make people ignore the fact that there is no substance to the game. Save your money, in my opinion this is best experienced when it's a monthly free game. It's certainly not worth much more than that.

It's not original but it is a silly but very fun game

Being the first Saints Row game I've played, I'm willing to admit that the graphics are a little choppy but not a deal breaker, to be honest I'm actually impressed and I love the silly concept to it, the tasks you do lead to hilarious pandemonium and I wasn't disappointed when this would happen, I found it funny and maybe a bit messed up but I know it's similar to other games out there but to me the open-world was the selling point as I really get a kick out of those types of games, but honestly give it a try, it's not original I can tell other games have inspired it but it's silly, sometimes stupid but in the end it's fun and that's all that matters to me.

Not Saints Row
melissa_vuk-021258 January 2023
I am without words. I wanted a Saints Row game... I got a steamy pile of poo.

Don't waste your money on this if you loved the OG games and the characters... there is not even the slightest trace of them here.

There is no fun, no insanity and absolutely no charisma. What it is, is sterile, sanitised and completely bland.

Add to all of this, the pathetic fanbaiting by the creators online, who can't seem to take even the mildest of criticism without flipping out, you have a recipe for stupid.

If you are a soy-based lifeform, who clutches their pearls at every joke, by all means, be my guest... this one is all yours.
