- A cook from Chandni Chowk gets mistaken for the reincarnation of an ancient peasant warrior by the residents of an oppressed Chinese village.
- Based in Delhi's Chandni Chowk, orphaned Sidhu is adopted by the owner of Bajrang Bali Parathas, known simply as Dada. Years later Sidhu has grown up and is an expert at slicing vegetables. When his Chinese friend and Philosopher, Chopstick, cons him into believing that he is the reincarnation of Liu Sheung, a slain Chinese revolutionary, Sidhu takes it upon himself to travel to the Zhange district where he will be forced to confront a deadly female assassin by the name of Suzy; be befriended by a semi-crazed beggar; and must face humiliation and possible death at the hands of the virtually indestructible Hojo.—rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)
- Hojo is a tyrant who has enslaved an entire village in China and is selling their ancient treasures for private profit. Hojo is ruthless and a warrior of unmatched expertise. The villagers look for a savior in the light of ancient Chinese defender Liu Shen, who sacrificed his life, defending his country and his people. The village priest studies ancient scriptures to determine that Liu Shen has been reborn in a different country.
Sidhesh Sharma aka Sidhu (Akshay Kumar) is a lowly vegetable cutter at a roadside food stall in the Chandni Chowk section of Delhi, who consults astrologers, tarot card readers, and fake fakirs (he is very unlucky and wants to change his destiny) despite his foster father Dada's (Mithun Chakraborty) exhortations. When two strangers from China claim him as a reincarnation of war hero 'Liu Shen', Sidhu encouraged by trickster Chopstick (Ranvir Shorey) (having the knowledge of both Chinese and Indian scriptures) (the Chinese have to use Chopstick's services as Sidhu does not speak Chinese), believes he will be feted as a hero in China. Chopsticks knows that the Chinese want Sidhu to defeat Hojo (Gordon Liu), but hides this from Sidhu, as he will never agree to go if he finds out that he is supposed to fight a brutal mobster.
Sidhu travels to China with Chopstick (after begging Dada to let him go, even though Dada disagrees with Sidhu). Along the way (at the Chinese embassy), he meets Sakhi (Deepika Padukone), the Indian-Chinese spokes-model known as Ms. Tele Shoppers Media, or Ms. TSM, who also appears in Tele shopping ads in China. Sakhi steals Sidhu token for the visa appointment and leaves him stranded. Sakhi's twin sister Suzy, known as the lady assassin Meow Meow, works for Hojo (Gordon Liu) as a smuggler of diamonds, not knowing Hojo tried to kill her father, Inspector Chiang (Roger Yuan). Sakhi is travelling to China to meet her suppliers and to find her lost sister Suzy/Meow Meow. In their childhood, Hojo had attacked Chiang, and his family at the great wall of China, after Chiang tried to arrest Hojo. In the attack Chiang jumps from the wall when Hojo throws Suzy off, while his wife escapes with Sakhi to India. Sakhi was told by her mother that both Chiang and Suzy died. Unknown to them, Chiang is a amnesiac vagrant who lives near the great wall and Suzy works for Hojo.
At the great wall, Sakhi sees Sidhu with the villagers and decides to follow him to the village. Meanwhile Suzy sees Sidhu being worshiped as Liu Sheng (attacks Sidhu, from which he escape) and alerts Hojo. Hojo sends Suzy to kill Sidhu. Meanwhile Sakhi approaches Sidhu to apologize to him, but Sidhu thinks she is Suzy and hits her on the head and puts her in the cupboard. But then Suzy attacks Sidhu, who thinks it is Sakhi again and again overpowers her and puts her in the same cupboard again. Sakhi regains consciousness and finds Suzy next to her. But Hojo's men rescue Sakhi, thinking she is Suzy. Meanwhile Chopstick fell for Suzy and reveals to her that Sidhu is not Liu Sheng. Suzy takes Chopstik to Hojo, who figures out that Suzy has a twin sister.
Hojo arrives at the village with Chopstick. However, Sidhu realizes the truth about his identity (when Hojo forces Chopstik to explain the truth to Sidhu). Devastated, Sidhu apologizes to Hojo. Just then, Dada shows up (who was also captured by Hojo's men in India, and brought to China) and starts beating Hojo's men, but Hojo kills Dada, and Sidhu is exposed as a loser. Also, he is beaten (hands and legs broken) and urinated on by Hojo.
Hojo throws Sidhu off the great wall, but Chiang saves Sidhu. Chiang nurtures Sidhu back to health. Sakhi meanwhile escapes from Hojo and seeks CHopstick's help to rescue Suzy. Chopstick joins Hojo's gang. Sidhu figures out that Chiang can speak Hindi. Sidhu is attacked by Hojo's man Joey. Chiang helps Sidhu defeat Joey and kill him. Sidhu finds the location of Hojo, via Joey's phone and tries to attack Hojo. But Hojo is alert and easily stops Sidhu's attack. Sakhi helps Sidhu escape Hojo. Sakhi tells Sidhu about Suzy and her lost family. Thats when Chiang arrives and Sakhi realizes that Chiang is her father. Chiang sees the family photo in Sakhi's hands and his memories return. He remembers that Hojo only threw the baby blanket off the wall that day, and kept the baby (Suzy) himself.. Sidhu begs Chiang to teach him Kung-Fu. Chiang says that Sidhu will only win with the move that he has practiced thousands of time in his life, but Sidhu cant remember anything in his daily routine that fits the bill. He starts the training.
Chiang focuses on strengthening Sidhu's body and his arms and legs. After months of training, Sidhu is ready. Chiang and Sidhu attack Hojo's smuggling operations and kidnap his son Frankie. Hojo uses Suzy against Chiang, by telling her that Chiang is the person responsible for her father's death.
When Hojo again meets with Sidhu (to exchange Frankie for Suzy), Suzy injures Chiang (by stabbing him); but upon seeing Sakhi, betrays Hojo (when she protects Chiang and Sakhi from Frankie). Sidhu fights Hojo in single combat, eventually using a modified vegetable-cutting technique to overpower him. After a huge fight, Sidhu finally kills Hojo. In the aftermath, Sidhu opens a vegetable stall in China but is recruited to fight for some African pygmies.
