With her abusive husband in jail and a coveted divorce pending, hardworking Noura can almost grasp a happy, new life with lover Lassaad - but when the best-laid plans are upended, Noura must tap her unshakable will to fulfill her dream.

5 days is the time left before the divorce between Noura (Hind Sabri) and Jamal (Lotfi Abdelli), a recidivist convict, is pronounced. Noura who dreams of freedom will then be able to live fully with her lover Lassad (Hakim Boumsaoudi). But Jamal is released sooner than expected, and Tunisian law severely punishes adultery: Noura will have to juggle between her work, her children, her husband, her lover, and challenge justice .—brahamdali

Noura (Hind Sabri) is vulnerable and the precariousness of her situation is key to Hinde Boujemaa's assured and compelling feature debut. Jamal (Lotfi Abdelli)'s release brings a volatile undercurrent of violence into the home she built for their three children. His return to petty crime has fewer legal implications than the consequences of Noura's infidelity. The tinderbox is sparked when Sofiane pieces things together and sets out to disgrace Lassad (Hakim Boumsaoudi). Will Noura survive the pressure? Will the lovers survive the humiliation? Hinde Boujemaa weaves a tense and complex web. In doing so, she emphasizes the fragility of a woman's position in the Tunisian legal system, as well as reflecting on questions of masculinity, power, corruption and domestic violence.—London Film Festival
