- After Emma finds her college boyfriend's engraved watch at a vintage jewelry shop, her sister Bronwyn believes it is a sign, and decides to secretly play Cupid by sending Emma to the same bed and breakfast in Vermont that Fletcher is staying at one week before Christmas. However, upon arrival, Emma is not only shocked to bump into her first love after all these years, but also his vivacious daughter. Throughout the week, the two fight their feelings for one another as they plan a Christmas Eve show in hopes of saving the local theater.
- Emma Potter, arguably the hardest working copywriter at Los Angeles based Attica Advertising, is just about to head back to her small Vermont hometown for Christmas, despite having just been given the biggest assignment of her career for the classically designed Frost Watches, she having sixteen days to the campaign launch on Christmas Eve for Frost's new Christmas timepiece. Before heading back to Vermont, she, looking for inspiration, wanders into an antique store in Los Angeles only to find there the engraved pocket watch she gave to her college sweetheart Fletcher Conroy, they who broke up following college to pursue their professional lives, Fletcher a theater playwright and director in London. During college in Vermont, Emma often acted as his productions' musical director, music a career she didn't pursue in suffering from stage fright. In discovering the watch, she, who has focused on her career at the expense of a personal life, realizes that Fletcher is the only man she's ever loved. Upon arriving in Vermont, she further learns that this will be the final year of the Vermont Christmas Festival and the associated Christmas Eve play at the theater where she and Fletcher put on their productions in college. In being drawn to this year's theater production in having a block concerning the watch campaign, Emma may come to realizations about her life with some help by Fletcher's mother Katherine and her own sister Bronwyn who have always been able to see more clearly what Emma and Fletcher could not communicate to each other in college, and by some fate combined with the Christmas spirit manifesting itself in human form. Emma may end up being her own worst enemy in thinking she seeing something on stage that doesn't exist, and in not owning up to her own fears and apprehensions.—Huggo
