Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah
To call this a horror film is really stretching it. Yes, there is a long-haired creature (sound familiar) targeting couples as they make love. She kills one, and then targets the other as they have sex with another partner.

So, a half dozen attacks means a half dozen sex scenes. Thiss is what is known as pinku in the Japanese movie market. If you are not into soft core sex scenes, then you may want to watch films like The Ring, The Grudge, or One Missed Call. all remade Japanese films. This film was even remade as Carved, which I hear focuses more on horror than sex. I'll have to check it out.

One of the interesting features of the movie is that the sounds of fear as the slit-mouthed woman approaches are exactly like the sounds of orgasm during the sex.

"The Grudge" as a kind sexually transmitted disease
lazarillo9 March 2009
This movie, based on Japanese urban legend about a female ghost whose jealous lover slit open the corners of her mouth, has also been made into a more mainstream, more straightforward horror movie called "Carved: The Slit Mouth Woman". I haven't actually seen the latter, but I'm sure it's better as far as a horror movie goes. But if you're a little bored with horror movies about vengeful long-haired girl ghosts, you might prefer this one because it's also a "pink" film (i.e. a Japanese softcore sex film) that manages to cram SIX long gratuitous sex scenes into it's 70 minute running time.

It starts with a horny doctor and nurse sneaking off to an abandoned wing of their hospital to take each other's temperatures the naughty way. The basic m.o. of the "slit-mouthed woman" is to kill one member of the couple while they're having sex, then to go after the other person the next time he or she has sex, then to go after his or her new partner, etc., etc. She's thus kind of a clever cross between a "grudge"-like ghost and a very fatal STD. (You might think, of course, that having your partner actually die during sex would you put you off having it at least for a little while, but then you've obviously never been in a Japanese "pink" film).

If you approach this purely as a horror film, you're probably going to be bored because there's just too much sex. If you approach it as a sex film though, you'll probably find yourself surprisingly entertained. Although they're speaking Japanese, the actors are still obviously far more talented than the plastic sex dolls that pass as American porn stars these days. (There's little or no silicone on display here either). And the director is much closer to the talent level of a good horror director than to the talentless hacks that make modern-day American sex films. You won't want to watch this (or most other "pink" films) if you just don't like softcore sex flicks in general. But if you do, you could do a lot worse than this one.

Failed combination of horror and pinku
Leofwine_draca6 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The figure of the 'slit mouthed woman' is a peculiar legend of Japanese mythology, one of the many long-haired ghosts that have been scaring cinema-goers since the huge success of RING almost twenty years ago now. The 'slit mouthed woman' has never really had much interest in the West, but the Japanese have made a number of films about her, and this is one of them.

First and foremost, though, this is a pinku film rather than a horror. Thus there are lots of very long and very gratuitous intense sex scenes used to pad out the running time. The scares are diluted and too reminiscent of the likes of THE GRUDGE to really work. The film as a whole is quite cheap and it looks a bit grotty; the acting is nothing to write home about either. In the end, I found it neither scary nor titillating, merely depressing.

Other similar titles are horror films. This is a disguised soft core porn.

Warning: Spoilers
There are a few versions of Slit-Mouth Woman movies. Other versions are actually horror movies. This "The" version is actually a soft core porn. Most of people are probably look for those three versions.

A Slit-Mouthed Woman http://www.IMDb.com/title/tt0891520/

The Slit-Mouthed Woman 0: The Beginnin http://www.IMDb.com/title/tt1328625/

The very old version, I don't remember the title, but it was slow and not very gory. It should be listed in IMDb if I can find it.

This 2005 version is basically a few sex session from different couples. They were killed after they had sex. No story, little acting. There are lots of soft core porn in Japan similarly named famous movies and TV show. This is just one of them. Because there was no private parts or private hair showed, it can be rated as PG13. If you can even say the word sex, then it rated R to you.
