Some of these reviewers are extremely misinformed

Warning: Spoilers
I'm a guy from Indiana who was 13 when the show first came out. Back when it was a guy's show. I have two older brothers. The brotherly dynamic was always the best part of the show to me. So it's always a treat to see the boys at their best.

Somehow along the way the fan base got a little weird and the show kind of dropped off after season five attempting to cater to these newfound fans. I get it, adaptation to change is what any show should do in the middle of a 15 year run.

And it didn't disappoint in supernatural standard. It was a treat to see Lucifer as always. He stopped being scary after season 5 writing wise but the actor is just so good he can take the dialogue and make you still feel a bit unnerved. It was great to see Michael again. But he was kind of a one off.

The best part of the episode by far was with Sam and Dean taking that beating. And I could tell all the cues by the end of the episode. I was thinking to myself "why does this seem like this is the actual series finale? Because this would be extremely underwhelming if it were."

Got done watching the episode and came on here to read some reviews and multiple reviewers said the next episode isn't an episode at all. It's just a cast throwback. And that's simply not the case. Do your research before you tank something.

This episode is a good watch. It ties up the god storyline. Does it do it as well as "Swan Song"? No, not even by a mile. But what did you expect? If you're a fan you're going to find some memorable moments in this episode. It was bittersweet. And the next one will be as well. And that's why I'll be watching. Carry on my wayward sons.

SPN fans - not as bad as they say
kaphoto13 November 2020
I don't normally write reviews, but had been planning on writing one for my favorite show's finale...but I can make an exception this time.

This episode is not the full Supernatural-feel that we're used to and obviously wanted for the almost-series finale. But hear me out...it's the Covid-version we needed, and the one *they* needed as a cast.

If you keep up with their socials, you know scripts were changed, shooting was postponed, and limited crew were brought on. The team did what they could to finish the story in the best way possible. I honestly had no clue how this was wrapping up, and I'm legitimately happy with this season finale/next-to-last series finale episode. It isn't perfect (dialogue isn't great, moves at a weird pace, odd cinematography choices) - at least it's no leviathan season, thank goodness - but some surprise people pop up and we get a heavy punch of nostalgia at the end...about as Supernatural as it gets.

I've watched this show since the airing of S2 and have been a big, big fan since. Love our boys and will have my tissues ready for the finale next week. Give the guys and crew a break on some of this - no, it's not exactly what we wanted in a series finale, but they're doing everything they can to wrap things up in a pandemic for us. Carry on.

Pretty satisfying
jabberwocky79913 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I know it's not the end just yet but I felt like this was a satisfying way to end the season and problem at hand. I thought that Jack becoming god was a good way to keep him alive and give him a purpose. I thought the Avatar:TLA ending of taking away Chucks power but not killing him was a good way to end that story as well. And to everyone saying that Cas should've come back.....you saw how he left right? When you have an exit that emotional and heartfelt, to have him come back would erase all of that. I feel like this episode was to get the heavy hitters out of the way and next episode will give us the conclusions and finality we need.

Not as good as I expected

The story was good imo, but the pacing was weird and how they ended their story with god/chuck was not satisfying tbh. I expected more from the show

The real finale
brandonmckay84 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I've just finished watching the series through completion for the first time. I had watched 1-12 before I had stopped for a while but have finally finished it all. I thought this episode was the finale & was happy with the ending until it went into another episode.. I'm sure the actual finale some people will enjoy & others will hate. Killing the boys off didn't seem right with everything they went through to finally get the world to that point & didn't get to live it very long at all. Them driving off together on the open road, alive, happy & on earth always felt like where it should end for me so I'm glad this episode can give the feeling that I had hoped it would end at. Thank you Supernatural for 15 amazing seasons!

Felt like an ending.
iamitsk14 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I have been a fan since I watched the pilot episode 10 years ago and as this show ends it leaves me with all kinds of emotions. This episode although being the penultimate episode felt like a warm and well deserved ending to the saga of Winchester brothers, ending with a montage of all the characters that have ever been on this show. I have my fingers crossed for the finale.

Perfect Ending
keliosincantare-2817714 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode got off to a bit of a slow start, but that ending! The ten to fifteen minutes were easily some of the best we've seen in years--certainly some of the best we've seen this season. I loved Sam and Dean standing together against God and refusing to let him win. I loved their suicide pact to bring everyone in the world back. That's been their job, their whole lives, and I can't help but think that in the end they could have been content to die together for the world and go to their shared heaven together. In the end, I'm glad they didn't--Sam being smart enough to trick God himself was a nice twist! I'm glad Jack is going to be the new God as well--Sam and Dean raised their son right, and I have no doubt they'll see him as often as his new duties allow. He's a good kid.

But the end. The end! Sam and Dean, happy at last. Free to simply BE--together, telling their own story, just the two of them. Nothing hanging over their heads, no one pulling their strings, no one expecting anything from them. The joy on Sam's face as he realized that, and Dean's soft smile before the two of them practically raced each other to the Impala--that's what I've always wanted for them. Happiness together. The two of them in Baby driving off into the sunset was everything they needed, and I'm almost disappointed there's another episode coming because this was the most perfect ending I can currently imagine.

My first and only review. It has to be Supernatural
alejavigo15 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't write a review for series finales like Lost or GoT, which were poor, but I have to do it for Supernatural, because it's been 15 years of good moments...

It's not a perfect ending because that was just impossible, much harder than other series because of its long life and human quality, but I was really surprised by the many 1's here, it shocked me.

But then I started reading those bad reviews and, many of them, their only or biggest complain was that Jack didn't bring Cas back at the end. What?? That's the reason for a 1? That makes the whole show or its ending the worst ever? So I realized that many, if not all, of those 1's were just sadness. If they are true fans of this show they have to be sad, as I was. Giving a bad score just because you're sad or wanted an even happier finale is kind of a compliment actually.

So, why Jack didn't bring back Cas? I really don't care. If I have to guess I'd say that it was because he already had a very emotional goodbye with Dean and bringing him back at the end would feel weird. I also think that angels can't have romantic love, only pure love, so talking about Cas being gay or not it's just pointless. But I liked how Cas loved Dean that much.

And why about the little plot holes and the rushed ending? Well, I don't complain either. I think the pandemic didn't help and maybe less fillers would have helped. But I liked how they tried to give some screen time or talk about as many as classic characters they could. Bobby has to be there, even for a minute. I would have liked more John in the flashbacks maybe...

The thing I liked the most was that I didn't see the plot switch coming. After thinking that Jack was the new Death or the new Darkness, or my bet about Cas being the new God, the power absorbing thing was nice, not brilliant, but unexpected and made sense. Chuck crawling scene was poetic justice. The people complains that it was rushed also and had to be more built up, but I think that would have ruined the surprise and they just wanted more episodes, another compliment.

I was about to give a 9 but as I write I feel the need to just give a 10. It's not perfect but it hasn't to be perfect, just like the Winchester brothers weren't perfect but always tried really hard. I think I won't see and love another series for 15 years in my life. I watched it with my beloved wife, Irene, who isn't a big sci-fi fan as I am, but we loved and enjoyed it since we were singles till we have children...

It's sad that it has to end, but it was good enough ending and one of the best series ever. It's not the same style as Soprano or Breaking bad, it's his own style. It's Supernatural.

Thanks for reading.

No one likes finales
songod-9500314 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Granted this ep was not the series finale (no clue what next week will be about - zapped into the future or a series retrospect?) but it brought to a close the Chuck\God arc.

I do not know what the reviewers here were hoping for. The ep was pure "Supernatural", not a parody of itself. The decisions the characters made were in keeping with what they have always done - and as usual it paid off.

What was SUPPOSED to happen???

Someone hating on this ep please write your own season finale detailing what YOU think should have gone down. No retconing anything, have to work with what has happened up to end of ep 17. Post it here. I'll be waiting.

Warning: Spoilers
Nothing is a spoiler, very formulaic , the foreshadowing episodes ago fell right in place, Lucifer reappearing , Michael's betrayal, and Jack always had the power in him, "Just had to believe Dorothy, now click your heels three times." They had a good run , I enjoyed 15 years of the show and suppose it is in the ether forever.

Now I can give it a 1 star.
foxydaemoon27 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was expecting a proper and decent resolution in the finale episode, but I didn't get that. I was actually kind of okay with the 19th episode at first, but the finale was spectacularly bad and empty that I was urged to write a review for this episode as well.

Basically almost all plot points were left unfinished and there are tons of plotholes and inconsistent and illogical narrative choices in this episode. The pacing was bad and anti-climactic, but I waited and waited for a proper buildup and resolution. It never came.

We literally don't know what happened to Jack after he left the Earth and his family behind. We never see him again and we only get to learn that he fixed Heaven with Castiel in throwaway line from Bobby. That's it. We don't get to see anything about it.

Jack brings back all those people back to life, but we never get to see them again. It's like Sam and Dean got amnesia and completely forgot about everyone else. What happened to Adam? We don't know. Maybe he's alive, maybe he's in Hell or in Heaven... Who knows. We don't know what happened to Kevin Tran. Is he in Heaven, alive or still dead and slowly becoming insane? We don't know what happened to Rowena's situation, she became the Queen of Hell but the demons were in rebellion. Was she able to fix that or that Hell is in chaos? What happened to Garth and his family? They were werevolves so I'm guessing they still are. Are they happy now? We don't know. We never get to see what happened with the Empty case, it being loud and all those demons or angels in the Empty. That plotline literally got dropped. We never get to learn what happened to Wayward Sisters. We don't know what happened to AU Bobby and Charlie. Are they still in this universe or were they sent back to their Original Universe? We don't know what happened to Reapers/Death situation properly. What happened to Eileen? We don't know. I could go on and on.

Basically the writers dropped every single plotpoint. None of it was resolved. At least GoT was able to complete some of its plot points and gave some of its characters decent endings. SPN didn't even manage to do that. You have a fairly small cast, and a fairly small supporting characters. And some focal plot points. It wasn't so hard to resolve them and blaming it all on Covid won't save it. You chose to write this garbage. You could've found a proper way to solve all these plot points. Dabb said that the ending was going to be satisfying and there wasnt going to be any lose points left. What a lie that was. Almost EVERY plot point were left unfinished and unresolved. They chose to drop everything.

Just think for a sec and consider all those plot points in the story. Does this episode make any sense to you?

Lmao this is a great parody... Wait
Albunfy14 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
That wasn't a parody? They weren't making fun of bros only fans? That was an actual ending? I thought nothing coming from Spn would surprise me anymore , I was wrong. I hear some fans saying the finale was as bad as game of thrones', are you joking? 19 and 20 are 1000 times worse. At least in game of thrones , some characters had a decent ending , in these two finales, the writers only cared about the bros, all recurrent characters were erased , forgotten , as if they never existed. That was cosmically bad.

I thought it was brilliant!
gwilli-9926214 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I will never understand why fans hate everything. I have followed this show since day one, and aside from an attempt at a spin off episode, Bloodlines or something, I don't entirely recall, I have loved every episode. Yeah, some were better than others, but that's the nature of shows. I am so sad to see this amazing show come to and end, but I do not think this will be the end of the Winchester brothers. Many shows do reunions and such, and very few shows go the distance Supernatural has. For this episode, though, I do not understand the complaints! Why is a happy ending a bad one!? I've hoped to see the brothers finally find peace. I was glued to the screen this whole season. In my opinion, they have went above and beyond with these final episodes. I do hope the next, and final episode closes the show well, and I have complete faith that it will. I doubt Jensen or Jared will ever read this particular review, but on the off chance, I want to thank you guys, and everyone who is a part of the show, for 15 brilliant years of an unforgettable and unique show. I will rewatch this for years to come and introduce my kids to the incredible world you created. There will never be a other like this, and I truly hope we have not seen the last of this universe. Until then, carry on....

All the hate has no connection to the actual episode
asimplebaker14 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The episode was fantastic. Were there some problems? Of course! It was filmed during a pandemic and there were heavy restrictions (thankfully) for safety, but compared to the rest of the Dabb era, and especially BuckLemming episodes in that era, this was a freaking homerun.

The people who are angry about this episode, and are intentionally trying to tank the rating, are upset because a supporting character that they like died in the previous episode and wasn't immediately brought back (which would have opened another plot hole), so they couldn't have their pet fandom ship on the show. They try to couch it in caring about all the characters and quality, but it's easy enough to see the common thread in all of them.

People like to claim that this show is about found family, "family don't end with (not in) blood", but it isn't and never has been. The show is about Sam and Dean, saving people and hunting things, the family business. They picked up friends along the way, and lost them, but the core, the only thing that truly ever mattered, was Sam and Dean together on the road and the show can only do those characters justice by ending that way.

Just the two of them
upiekiana13 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Oke, i saw bad rate from the reviewers, but all of them saying its bad because there's no Cas..., where's Cas? Why Jack didn't bring Cas back? Why Dean forget Cas? Dank, you all whining about Cas, Cas and Cas..., I know he's part of the show for 12 years, but remember how the show started, what the show's started, it started with just two of them, TWO OF THEM : SAM AND DEAN! Thats the real of Supernatural the essence of Supernatural. ITS NOT THE CAS SHOW!! Yeah, of course I wouldn't blind how Castiel made his own story along the show, and how you all shipping him with Dean, pushing the writers to make its canon, well I'm glad Dean didn't asnwer back, no matter how Dean real feels about Castiel, and I don't want to know. But please..., you are already make your own story in your head head, so let the writers made their own, and when it didn't like what you expected, don't get crazy. And about how Sam and Dean forget their all friend (even the important ones) who had with them through the journey and gave the short and quick ending, well, I've learned with that. It's not the first time the writers done that..., it has happened it some previous seasons. It suck? Yeah, its suck. But it happened. So if the ending will brought us to just the two of them- Sam and Dean, then that's it should be..., no Castiel, no Jack, no Bobby, no Dad, no Mom..., no everyone... fair enough. And we still didn't know what happened on the last two hours episode next week, maybe some of them will popped up again (who knows). Soo, let just sit and enjoy the show till the end, and be thankfull for what the show gave to us for 15 years ... - hardfans for 15 years before the C ...

A very human way to end a fight
path_wayss-5717422 November 2020
I actually liked how it was Sam and Dean being smart and human that found the right way to win. I didn't care for the whole god evil as the big bad thing. But it was certainly a good way to end the storyline and I loved the last montage.

I've never felt so disappointed in my life
Splarke2213 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
15x19 was supposed to act as the "season finale," with 15x20 being the "series finale" according to the writers. Either way, this was the penultimate episode of the entire series & it was an absolute letdown in my eyes. The build up to the final fight vs Chuck was weak. Michael & Lucifer were brought back for what? I feel like they served no purpose in this episode even though they technically did. I didn't like how Jack absorbing power was revealed AFTER the fight, just felt like it was clunky storytelling. Then once the pitiful fight vs Chuck is over & Jack becomes the "new God," he brings back everyone.. except for Castiel & all the other people Sam & Dean care for? Makes no sense. Maybe 15x20 will reveal that they all were brought back, but then again, the writers said the series finale will be like the old days with just Sam & Dean out on the road (hopefully this is misdirection & we actually will see everyone return).

Also, I was at first confused by them showing flashbacks of all the good times throughout the entire run of the show as I figured that's something that would be shown after the actual series finale.. but it makes sense since it was showing a recap of all of Chuck's story & 15x20 will be the first and last time we see Sam and Dean not being written by him anymore.

All in all, I just feel pretty disappointed in how Season 15's story played out and ended. There was so much potential this season & it feels like the writers just didn't know what to do for the most part. Really sucks, but hopefully 15x20 will be the amazing sendoff that everyone who stuck with Supernatural all these years deserves.

Well that sucked,, think I'm gonna throw up now
reddiemurf815 April 2021
This show should've ended at the end of Sn 5 (with a different ending then that season had). It went on FAR too long,,,

First 3 Sns were excellent!! 4th Sn things started getting less excellent,,, then the 5th was the last good one.

Chuck as God? What?!? Of course,, if I'm looking for truth from a TV show,, what am I thinking, right? However,, it would've been nice if they'd kept the blasphemy down to a minimum.

Anyways,, i will forever enjoy Sns 1-5,, but after that, I'll just make up my own conclusion in my head.

Consider yourself lucky if you haven't watched, that was awfully bad, I wish I could give 0 star
WhiteAndRedGoonny14 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Maybe this episode would have been acceptable if it lasted 1h30min , but allowing the writers 35min for the penultimate episode was never going to be enough, there are too much holes, too much unfinished stories, too much inconsisties, too much loose ends that the writers couldn't tie up in one episode. Buckner and Leming are bad writers but honestly, they are only partially responsible of this monstrosity, the showrunners are the ones to blame for trusting these mediocre writers with such important episode, it's the showrunners who are to blame for wasting many episodes before 18th in classical hunting and domestic life, they should have started earlier in wrapping the season. The episode felt like it was written and directed by a 12 years old . The final fight: ridiculous, the last clip: laughable, the way Jack just disappeared and didn't think of bringing back his dead dad (Cas), the way Sam and Dean didn't even ask him to, them not mentioning nor checking on Eileen , Donna, au Bobby and Charlie : unacceptable. They rushed the episode and totally neglected Cas and other major characters just for the sake of having a "brother only" episode to please a certain "faction" of the audience. that was insulting not only to the the vast majority of fans, but also to Sam and Dean, who looked like they only cared about each others, and by doing so they totally destroyed what was the second important message of the show after "free will" But judging by the speed with which they moved on from their 11 years angel best friend and their other loved ones, family does in fact end with blood, Mary and John blood. And Anrew Dabb said that the final episode will be a simple hunt as an homage to the first season, well thanks for the info Dabb, i'll use that hour in something more useful.
