No Parts Unknown
littlepigs28 October 2019
BLD serves a lighter fare for a traveling food show and it's certainly not at the level of Parts unknown. It's hit or miss depending on the guest. The morocco episode with Crissy teigen was very cringeworthy. The show wastes a bit of time with too much rambling and prepared opening scenes. I enjoyed the Cambodia with Kate McKinnon episode the most. Kate McKinnon could carry her own travel show and hopefully she comes back for another episode.

An expanded version of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee
gibby32005 May 2020
This show has brought a face to the name of david chang for me. Immediately seeing Seth Rogen and a tone similar to Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, I went in without an expectation of a focus on food, but more conversational and about guests. Knowing this, I can go forward based on guests I want to see. I hope Chang makes an even greater name for himself in this one.

Great Show! David sure enjoys life and Friends
chris-923-5879102 November 2019
Just watched the Vancouver episode. It's hilarious, you get a great feel of the city. I've been a bunch too and this made me want to get back. It's also a good lesson to go out with a friend, have a fun day bond, eat some great stuff and create a memory. Try new things and laugh while doing it.

As for people with the negative reviews comparing him to other TV food travel shows. Don't be lame he's not trying to be Like Anthony Bourdain, who was amazing and missed. He's doing his own thing and doing it right. Really want to see more episodes and more Ugly Delicious!😜

A misfire
mhdreiling3 November 2019
It lasts only four episodes but it sure gets really exhausting really fast. It's not about the food, or the places, or the guests, or David, or the people they meet. It desperatly tries to be about all that. It mostly fails. I really like David Chang and his previous work, but this is a misfire, perhaps a necesary one in his career. I look forward for his next good series/season to clean the strange memories of this one.

Oddly not primarily a food show
alexlevee29 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The show is a little bit more about the celebrities in the food that they are eating. The host David chimes in with his own experiences as well. It's not uncommon to learn something new about a celebrity you did not already know.

Kate McKinnon does not like ketchup. I guess the shows not that deep either though.

Simply put, JUNK
nectron2 November 2019
Oh my god. Really. Seriously. Only Netflix can broadcast such junk. Nothing inside. Nothing. There is no way to describe the empytiness. Its not a show about food, its not about (interesting) celebs, its not culture. Skip it, or jump into a burning fire while you are all lubricated with oil. Trust me, It will be less painful and will end sooner.

Chang creating solid content
mrovner-763131 December 2019
Showing different places, in different cities. Refreshing and truthful. Some of it is a little self-indulged, but Chang and his guests deserve to be so. Casual and entertaining. If you love Ugly Delicious you'll love this.

It feels like your traveling with him
ashleyjleonard30 November 2019
I recently been digging through Netflix trying to find anything that will grab my attention (due to seeing almost everything). Came across this gem and loved it. Not only do I love food, I love genuine people and that exactly what this show exhibits. Genuine people sharing stories, food, and laughs. Very refreshing to see how people we consider celebrities are very much what we all are, just people. Thank you for making me laugh and making me hungry.

Munchie Adventures
ptwin-7378514 November 2019
I only actually watched the first ten minutes of David Chang, hosted by Seth Rogan, in Vancouver. That was enough. Why would I want to watch two grown men getting stoned out of the heads while stuffing themselves with Rogan's favourite hometown munchies? Also in this episode, we are treated to Seth Rogan sharing some of his expert joint-rolling methods. What a waste of a potentially good series! Lame!

A disappointing and mediocre vanity project from David Chang...
mdw052619 November 2019
I love David Chang, and really enjoyed "Ugly Delicious". But this new four-part series is kind of a let-down. I get that he wants to be the next Anthony Bourdain, but that indefinable thing that made Bourdain so unique and compelling is what Chang is missing. These four celebrities (Seth Rogen, Chrissy Teigen, Lena Waithe, Kate McKinnon) he hangs with all are fine and perfectly unobjectionable, fun even, but they also weren't super interesting and the episodes didn't really have much impact. Bourdain was such a devastating loss because he possessed both a gravitas and a sense of adventure that inspired you to want to try new things. This short series, a pale imitation of "Parts Unknown", ends up just a mediocrely produced vanity project for the Momofuku doyen.

We want to know about the food, not your life
cristiancv8628 October 2019
I just wanted a programme that you could see the city best places to eat and typical food. But there is so much talking about all other stuff it gets boring.

This programme has so much potential but less talking about their own personal life's would definitely be e a massive improvement

What kind of show is this?
metjons24 October 2019
I really liked Ugly delicious and I was hoping for a show primarily about cooking. But I was disaapointed. Is it about cooking or travelling or is it sort of a on-the-road-talkshow? It is like it wants to be all of the three things but ends up not really being any of them.

Wtf happened?!!?
wilr-288853 November 2019
Wtf happened David??? This showed sucked balls

And honestly compared to your other shows even the ones you were featured on for one episode are better then this.

In no way were the city's given any justice or the people

Fake celebs showing us places that over charge and are hype

The first episode I let side but then when you did the LA episode with someone that wasn't from LA and all you did was go to wack spots In silverlake\echo park and weho

This whole series looks like he was having some kind a existential crisis

David Chang please rethink what you're going to come out with

Couldn't get past the first 15 minutes
hayleydawson-2766829 October 2019
Pointless and irresponsible show. Pretty sure Seth Rogan is driving around Vancouver high which is illegal and irresponsible to be promoting on tv. As soon as David threw the crab up in the air and it hit the boat I had to turn it off. Honestly ashamed that this show is representing Vancouver. Disgusting and a waste of my time. Not to mention the food they were highlighting is average at best. I literally created an IMDb account so I could write this review - which shows how much it sucks!

Has the right ingredients but just doesn't come together
floluo9 December 2019
Great destinations, fun guest stars and exploring foreign foods. What is not to like? Unfortunately nothing really works.
  • Is it an interview show? There's a lot of very shallow interviewing happening. One wonders why they need to fly to all those destinations to have the vast majority of the programme like a late night show interviews.
  • Is it a food show? Food gets surprisingly little air time and it rushed through without much impact. It is of zero help to have the so-called "host" /chef on board as he knows next-to-nothing about the respective cuisines. The show reveals almost nothing about how dishes are made and they barely seem to try slightly "riskier" or "edgier" foods. often just point at things. Food comes and goes but the show isn't really about that. The host often asks very uninformed yet patronising things, it's cringe to watch.
  • Is it a travel show? It tries in bits. Some good tourist spots get walked around in, but again it's not really in-depth. The attitude of the travellers is often very condescending and reducing the locals to complete stereotypes. My "highlight" was the host learning some basic facts about Cambodia after overcoming the pure shock of not being in America and meeting a celebrity after a whole 7 minutes to then immidiately asking a Cambodian chef about how much of the food is "pre-war or post-war".
If you like travel, food or witty interviews you strangely get NEITHER. TH

What a disappointment
ashaw-0139225 October 2019
What a disappointment. This show amounts to not much more than celebrity self-indulgence. It is a boring series of un-reflective hang-out sessions in which people secondarily eat food.

Cambodia episode was nothing it should have been
shirvis24 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
How disrespectful can a person be? I get it your a comedian, but to leave talking with monks and ask "Well all I wanted to know is if their humor was the same as mine...farts." so sad about this. Love David Chang. You know better. But nothing they talked about was anything to do with the country or turmoil just jokes that had nothing behind them. Sad. Make us want to go to the country and enjoy all it has to offer.

The Movie "Idiocracy" is a reality!
mr-roboto-kilroy27 October 2019
After watching this TV series, one can come to the confusion that today's society has come dangerously close to the movie "Idiocracy" . I am okay with the legalization of cannabis and indulge in it myself, but Netflix seems to be trying to capitalize on Millennials who like to partake in the big smoke. I also like drinking alcohol, but don't want to watch a chef on TV drunk all the time. Just like I don't find watching a "Chef" and his friends high, eating and exploring foods that will satisfy their "munchies". This show has no interesting content and is just painful to watch.

Self-indulgent, pontificating no importance, boring swill.
nunya655225 October 2019
The title says it all. Chang should be ashamed at how lazy and self-indulgent he's allowed himself to become.

Not about breakfast, lunch or dinner
ethrush27 November 2019
I don't know why they called this series Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. It's not about food. The first episode is more about making movies, so if you're interested in that, you might find It interesting. To me, it's the video version of the Lucky Peach magazine- now defunct. Too much swearing, not enough information. We see them eat food that looks delicious, but we don't learn anything about it. Someone on the set should have told them that getting stoned before filming was a bad idea. It's hard to understand what people are saying when they are both laughing uncontrollably.

Gave up on this after 2 episodes. Can't stand David Chang acting clownish. He is way over rated. Waste of time.

"I have famous friends"
bergqvist-joel15 May 2020
I love David Chang, so it hurts having to ask, but why was this made? It's a completely empty show that doesn't know what it even tries to be about. Chang is not a good interviewer so there's nothing interesting coming out of the conversations, and it's not about food. This should never have been allowed to exist, why is this on Netflix?
