Horrible......
sefatishtiak29 May 2020
A horrible story with 2 actors. too much rushed. 1st half was better, but 2nd half of the film blunder the whole story. Too much background music makes the film cheaper. Don't know why, but it seems at final sequence that the villain and the hero both are close friends, which director and writer both failed to execute to the viewers at the end of film. Overall, it's a pretty much apprentice type project which could be much better.

Could have been much better.

The concept, the plot, actors , dialogues all are great but the direction fails to keep it all together. Had the potential to be so much more, rather ended up being like a typical masala film. The same story like many other crime thrillers, lacked innovation and anything new. Many scenes will leave you irritated if you like crime and thriller movies, given the uncertainty and profanity of the scenes.

A Pathetic Movie
rupak_speaking18 September 2021
In three words, "a pathetic movie". There seems to be a jostle in Bengali cinema to make sleuth or thriller movies but it is not everyone's cup of tea, and Mainak Bhaumik who is the latest to join that bandwagon dishes out a very poor film here. Abir is not good in negative roles and it seems he is trying to make the most of his good time in the industry doing as much work as he can, Jishu does so-so, but Sudip Mukherjee playing his police officer boss is made into a laughing stock in the movie with extremely poorly written dialogues, particularly his. Nothing sits right here and is way below par from an established team of director and actors in the industry. Hardly 5/10.

2 great actors, 1 horrid film

Bad screenplay, bad direction - a story about a psycopath killer. The film dies several deaths on every count till it ends up as a ridiculous melodrama!!

Ignore the negatives
SnigBhaumik5 November 2019
For a while just ignore all these negative reviews and low rankings. Except of two things - 1) severe over-acting of Jishu and 2) last 10 minutes of the script that made Abir doing some illogical acts - the movie is very nicely created.

Without spoilers, I can say that the clues left by the killer are brilliant; the modus operandi is nicely unveiled and the cat-n-mouse game between the detective and the killer is decently presented.

Give it a chance folks.

Warning: Spoilers
What was this movie? Bengali culture has really meticulous and convincing thriller writers. This movie can have its place as the black sheep in its genre.

The plot pretty much unfurls itself completely really early on in the movie. It doesn't take much time or big brain energy to understand what's going on and what's what. It was predictable. Movies in the Suspense/Crime/Thriller genre are known to be more ambiguous and tends to keep the viewer

The characters portrayed in this movie are willfully dumb. I mean, they really tried to hammer home the idea that almost all the characters have half the capabilities of an average human psyche. Main guy can somehow unfold clues and reach from point A to B by saying synonyms of words provided as clues. Senior Cop is a completely unnecessary character who makes it his duty to point out really obvious things. Main Guy's wife left him while he was ailing from a heart attack and clinically depressed. Who does that? She proceeds to be a self-righteous b-word and never shows any kind of support whatsoever.

I don't want to point fingers at the dialogues because Bengali movies tend to keep things verbose and/or rhyming. It does get cheesy but meh I'll roll with it.

No issues with the acting or the songs. The star power could have been better utilised if the story was more compelling.

For a crime thriller the movie as many conspicuous flaws. It felt half-baked and lacked key flavours.

Couldn't be worse

It simply is a very very boring thriller with worthless direction. The story is bogus and they over did the cinematography.

Absolute waste of a fine actors
subhadeep-ghosh-sg27 October 2019
This was just a waste of time. Good actors, but awful direction and rubbish script and storyline. This director should be requested from refraining from making any further movies.

Third grade movie
yashcyclist28 May 2020
Completely spoil of time. Very weak direction. Dull suspense. Jishu is totally flop in a lead role. His acting is irritating. Only Abir is superb.

Lots of howlers. This could have been a good movie if more attention was paid to the presentation and howlers eliminated.

Edge of the seat thriller!!!
sanjubhat28 July 2019
I am back with my second review of a bengali film , Bornoporichoy starring Abir Chatterjee and Jishu Sengupta coming together on the silver screen for the first time.

Both these super talented actors who have played Byomkesh bakshi at some time or the other, coming together is an attention grabber for sure. Icing on the cake is that this is a thriller .. and a bloody good one too!!

The film is an edge of the seat thriller about a police officer ( jishu) who has lost everything dear to him in his obsession to catch a serial killer (abir) ,who uses the Panch Mahabhut (5 elements of nature) to commit his murders. How jishu manages to get his act together when the killer resurfaces after a long hiatus forms the rest of the story.

Plot is not too complex . Acting by the lead actors is bang on .... Priyanka sarkar who plays the role of jishu's wife also does a decent job with her small role.

Songs by anupam roy especially Protibeshi are melodious and work well in moving the narrative forward. Direction by mainak bhoumik is very slick and ensures that the film does not drag beyond it's 1.5 hour run-time.

The thriller however lacks the surprise element & high adrenaline stuff that are a USP of the genre. Apart from the scene where abir and jishu meet for for the first time, the plot is too simple & could have done with some more exciting twists.

Having said this.... The film is a nice one time watch .... You will definitely enjoy this Cat and Mouse game for sure !!!
