- Open with Sean and Teddy going to eat at a sensory deprivation restaurant where the lights are turned completely off. Teddy gets frisky before dinner but when Sean fields a phone call from Julia in the off-chance one of the kids is sick she takes off. "Until you stop taking responsibility for every little moment of everyone else's life," Teddy says. "I'm not interested."
The clinic gets a visit from Budi Sabri, a man from Bali who suffers from a virus which turned most of his body into tree-like horns. Sean and Christian tell Budi that even with multiple surgeries they can't make any promises. Budi tells them all he wants is to be able to walk and feel more human.
During Budi's surgery Christian tells Sean that he's called a press conference for afterwards in an attempt to re-coup something from the pro bono work. Sean, who is going to write a paper for the New England Journal of Medicine about the case, thinks Christian is being insensitive. Teddy agrees to give Sean a second chance and let him pick her up for lunch that day.
Kimber brings Jenna in to see Christian. Jenna's Collagen has been absorbed and she wants him to re-do the baby's lips. Christian says no and Kimber says she'll take Jenna to another doctor. When Sean interrupts their bickering Kimber spills the beans to Sean that Christian injected Jenna the first time. After she leaves Sean rips Christian a new one, finishing with "how much further can you fall?"
Sean arrives at Teddy's palatial apartment. They move directly to the bedroom and begin going at it when we see a real estate agent walk a couple in the front door and begin describing the multi-million dollar listing. Teddy fesses up that she thought it would be fun to break into an open house and have sex. In an attempt to "have fun," a nude Sean tells the agent "we'll take it" and offers 20 percent down.
At what he thinks is a routine follow-up, Christian finds out his cancer has spread to his lymph nodes and he now has six months to live. His doctor offers Christian a drug which may extend his life by a few more months but the side effects are such that he declines the treatment.
Christian returns home and begins pouring several stiff drinks. When Sean and Teddy walks in Christian tries to talk to him but is blown off: "You're just a moral vacuum," Sean says.
Christian goes to the office and pulls a bunch of drugs out of a cabinet. He walks in on Budi and asks whether he ever considered suicide. Budi said he never did and adds that his only real dream is to find a woman to share his life with.
Sean and Teddy go to the desert and meet with a shaman who gives them the psychoactive Peyote-like tea Ayahuasca, or "Vine of the Dead." Teddy seems to love the experience while Sean has a bad trip, hallucinating that he is growing horns like Budi.
Christian shows up at Liz' new clinic in Miami. He tells her he needs her, wants her to come home with him and pulls out a gigantic engagement ring.
Cut to a day later. Liz is back working in the L.A. office wearing Christian's ring and Sean is grilling him about his intentions with Liz. Christian says he doesn't want to go to his grave as a "soulless, inhumane asshole," but still hasn't told anyone of his prognosis. Sean has to leave Budi's latest surgery because the drug still hasn't worn off.
Going through the medicine cabinet Liz notices the missing drugs. When she wants to report Teddy, Christian has to admit he was contemplating suicide because the cancer returned. Thinking he wanted to marry her so she would help him die, Liz throws the ring in Christian's face and tells him to go to hell.
When Sean turns down Teddy's offer to have sex on the operating table while taking Nitrous she gets upset at how boring he is. Sean explains it's just his nature and she dumps him.
Christian tells Sean he is dying. Sean tries to suggest clinical trials or experimental treatments but Christian says he just wants to enjoy himself for the last few months. They smoke Cuban cigars which Christian had originally purchased for his wedding and Sean tells him "you didn't need to get married to make sure you wouldn't be alone."
Sean brings Teddy back to the lights-off restaurant and pays the waitress to leave them alone for a half hour. She seems thrilled.
As Christian examines Budi he discovers that the horns have returned. Christina holds the man's hand as he cries.
An emotional Liz tells Christian that she will marry him after all. "I'm not going to let you die alone," she says.
