A lot of the names are terrible puns.
The second season employs a different Japanese voice cast from the first season, due to schedule conflicts rendering most of the original voice actors unable to reprise their roles.
The anime adapts the sequel manga of Maou-sama, Retry! by Kurone Kanzaki and Amaru Minotake which launched on the Gaugau Monster web magazine and app in March 2020. Futabasha published the sixth volume on January 13, 2024, with the seventh volume planned for an August 30, 2024 release.
