All of the locations featured in the film are real businesses in the Carolinas, and are even referenced by their actual names.
Ty Rowe (Ty) plays a fictionalized version of himself, as do a lot of Columbia, SC artists in the film. Columbia hasn't been featured as a location itself in this kind of film before, and in order to give the audience a true, authentic experience, the script was populated with many local artists from the city appearing as themselves as they normally would. These include: Cole Connor (musician), Justin Daniels aka H3ro (musician), Miles Kendrick (musician), Ryan Easterbrooks (comedian), Patrick Fowler & Phil Carter aka The Bustercups (comedians/musicians) Bran McElveen (owner/bartender at East Room), Preach Jacobs (musician), and Jenn Snyder (comedian).
Due to having such a small budget, most of the filming at local businesses were done during operating hours and with customers present. This proved to be both helpful and stressful for cast/crew. While having extras helped authenticate scenes, the cast and crew had to deal with countless drunken patrons interrupting shots.
Amy Brower was originally brought in just to help cast the film. As the shooting dates neared, and production had difficulty securing parts, actor Hunter Bolton suggested Amy play a role herself due to their previous work history.
Finding somebody for the role of Haley proved difficult. Two days into production, and with only one day left before a scene was going to be shot that featured Haley, director William Nicholas Clay turned to his DP/Co-Writer Stephen T. Canada and told him to, "Pull something out of his ass." Stephen returned to his hotel that evening and reached out to any and all Columbia theater people he could find on Facebook, even cold-messaging people on his suggested friends list. Not surprisingly, most either had prior commitments and/or were skeptic, but Elizabeth Jennings took on the last-minute challenge. The next morning, Stephen told William, "I pulled something out of my ass and found us a Haley."
