As brutal as realistic

This is an animated 10-minute short film from almost 10 years ago. The writer and director is Andreas Hykade. A boy lives with his uncle and aunt. They breed rabbits, eat rabbit and make warm hats out of these. One day, he can convince his uncle not to kill one of the rabbits, but the uncle says that he can only keep it for one year and then it will be killed. And that is exactly what happens. I just wonder why the uncle would want the boy to kill the rabbit. Really lacks all kinds of sympathy as the boy obviously would have made a connection to the animal by then. Another thing I didn't like was the blood on the wall constantly refreshed from the dying rabbit's head. It's a pretty graphic animated short and probably not suitable for very young audiences. It's difficult for me to say if I like it, but I thought the animation style was fine except the fact that the aunt (it was the aunt wasn't it) looked like a skinny male. The authoritarian uncle was depicted convincingly as a very big muscular guy. Final judgment though: Not recommended, also because I feel no need to ever watch it again really. The story wasn't that great taking a closer look. Little fun fact to finish this review: The child actor here spoke Nemo the German dubbed version of the Pixar animation classic.
