I was lucky enough to see this film in Sydney for the French Film Festival. It captures not only a wonderful engineering feat, but also the thrilling life and times of the Eiffel Tower's creator. A man who was unrelenting in his desire to create a legacy, regardless of the pressure on him.
I can only hope that this film gets a cinematic release that it deserves in Europe and elsewhere.

Eiffel is the last name of the builder...It is about the man who BUILT the tower and not about the structure!! Why people are judging it on not being about the building of the tower are missing the point of the film. Looking at it in from that perception I found it a very engrossing film.
This movie couldn't be anymore French. Great actors, beautiful techniques were used. Very romantic. The engineering part was little, but also makes you curious about more. The ending is very French, which is good! Makes total sense for this setting.

A well produced film, the scenery and the historic content was first class.i do agree that the romance could have taken a more of a backseat.the acting was excellent, and I'm looking forward to seeing miss McKey in Emily later on this year.it made a welcome change from all the sequels and prequels, and the ongoing DC and marvel films.to some it would be offputting because of the subtitles, but to me it doesn't detract from the content.im quite lucky that close to where I live we have an independent cinema that will show the more quirky films or those that are for the more discerning tastes.it probably won't get the publicity it deserves, only with decent reviews and word of mouth will ensure a success.

So everyone voted for this project to be built and then they all blame it on the author? He does exactly what he was asked for, but everybody backs down. This is so childish, nobody wants to be responsible for their decisions.
Took them 23 years to make, and among the biggest french production ever, heavily fictionalized but still I think the film does justice to art, architecture and engineering, and can be thoroughly enjoyed.
Emma Mackey as a muse and focal point of the inspiration of Gustave was able to captivate and make believe the audience that it's all real even when it was not.
Among the few french films I ever saw, ans I am glad I did.
Some stories are more suited for a film than others, and I think that it's a smart choice to authentically portray the time the film was set in, and humanize the legend so that everyone can relate to the passion and skills he had and he displayed.
