First Time I Loved Blair
KatherinePetersdorf8 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is total wasn't the best episode in the series, nor the worst. This was the first episode that I really stabilized my feelings about the characters.

Nate: I don't like him. He pretends he is not entitled, and tries to run from it, but only because people guilt him. I can't stand him, he is very fake and jumps around on his beliefs and love lives.

Chuck: He is probably the most interesting man I have ever seen. I can tell he isn't evil, just desperate for the love and attention that someone forgot to give him, (later on we find out who). I suddenly forgave him for the issues with Jennie and Serena in the pilot.

Serena: I'm like her, and I like her - but she doesn't drive me to keep watching because it isn't anything new in my life. She is a good person, though, standing up for Erik

Dan: I love him, and I think I'd marry him if he was real. I already liked him though, I did since the pilot. He is one of the two reasons that I keep watching the series.

Blair: I love her. I hated her at first, because of how she treated Serena, but this was when I started to like her. I found her interesting when she started digging into Serena's past, but at the end that scene with the letter in the rain, I couldn't help but love her. She turned from villain to goddess in my eyes, because I saw a sweet naive girl who was hurt and pushed around by her mother that cracked out of her bondage of family rules to become a queen of her peers. She is the other of the two reasons I keep watching the show now.

Little J: I found her interesting, but not driving.

Poison Ivy (#1.3)

Warning: Spoilers
This was a pretty good episode. A lot of interesting things have happened. There is the whole struggle between students and their parents about which school they will be going to, pretty realistic. Competition between students. Very nice of Nate to do what he did for Dan who deserves to get into his dream school. The greatest part were the rivalry between Blair and Serena. I like the conversation between Eric and Blair. One could see how she regretted what she did. This was the part where she showed her human side. And especially in her conversation with Serena. She has also unintentionally done Serena a favor since Dan made up with her.

Blair's Unsent Letter
marthawilcox183118 August 2014
Dan comes to terms with the fact that he doesn't have a university legacy even though Serena's parents went to Harvard and Brown. My parents didn't go to university and I was the second in my family to go to university, so I partially connected with him.

There is a sweet scene where Chuck is in Blair's bedroom and says to her: 'So this is your bed'. She covers up her blanket and says to him: 'leaving'. It's a cute scene and something you would say to someone you want to bed, or at least have strong feelings for.

Dan says to Serena: 'If you ever need someone to talk to, let me know.' No one's ever said to me, although some have said 'don't be a stranger', which isn't quite the same thing.

The most moving part of this episode is when Blair reads her unsent letter to Serena. It reads: 'My world is falling apart. I don't have anyone to talk to. Where are you? Why did you leave without saying goodbye? I miss you so much.' It's the kind of letter I would have written to my soulmate when they walked out of my life. My world fell apart because they left without saying goodbye. I missed my soulmate so much and didn't have anyone to speak to. Hearing Blair read these words endeared me to her. My only concern is that this was made in 2007 in an age of facebook, email, text and twitter, whereas letter writing was something of the 90s and 80s. Maybe this series has been kicking around for a few decades before it got made.

Serena's answer is equally moving: 'I didn't know how to be your friend.' I truly believe the reason why people have walked out of my life, or have not persisted in friendship and companionship with me is because they don't know how to be my friend. This for me is testimony that the series has some good writing, even though the characters may appear to be shallow in a superficial world.

Knocked it out of the park!
callanvass5 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Gossip Girl is narrating Ivy League week. The Upper East Siders schools of Constance Bilard for Girls, and their rival St. Jude For Boys, prepare for an anxiously awaited visit from Ivy League representatives. Nate doesn't want to go to Dartmouth, but faces extreme pressure from his Father to attend it. Dan has his heart set on a coveted Usher position, but Nate manages to get the spot instead, breaking Dan's heart. Dan's Father decides to go to bat for him and manages to convince Serena's mother to give Dan a Dartmouth referral even if it means getting rid of his pride. The vindictive Blair is still conspiring with Chuck to belittle and ruin Serena's life and still won't forgive Serena for her scandalous betrayal, doing everything she can to one-up her. That includes taking cheap shots at her during field hockey. Chuck stalks Serena and catches her going into a treatment clinic. If that isn't enough, Dan is still acting short and weird with her for her controversial actions. Serena decides to take Eric with her. Eric forms a bond with Dan's sister Jenny. Things go awry when Blair thinks Serena has drug problems when it's actually Eric.

Wow! I loved the first two episodes, but this one is very memorable. All the situations rang true to me and every character is developed beautifully. I was rather indifferent towards him for the first couple episodes, but Nate is starting to connect with me. I really felt for him in this episode. His bossy father really got to me! I actually yelled "You f**** prick!" at one point. That goes to show you how much I'm starting to get emotionally invested in Nate. He's still one of my least favorites, but that may change quickly. His storyline with his Dad is all too real. Serena's romance with Dan continues to evolve nicely and I'm really into it. Dan's reaction to Serena's controversial past is both believable, but also somewhat childish, which is exactly how I would react. Dan is a real person that I can relate too on every level! Serena's bitter feud with Blair is intensified in a big way. Serena's actions were kinda unforgivable, but Blair goes WAY too far in her pursuit for revenge. Their chemistry is amazing and I continue to be highly impressed by both women. The ending is very moving. It gives you just enough happiness, but a bit of doubt to keep you wondering what will happen next. Have they really formed a truce? Characters like Eric and Jenny are evolving nicely as well. Ed Westwick doesn't have much to do as Chuck in this one, but he's as sneaky and despicable as ever!

It's funny! I originally decided to check out this show because of my huge crush on Blake Lively! I'm really into the show and the characters. Screw what people think! This show can be enjoyed by guys as well. It has something for everyone. An amazing episode, no question about it
