The original All in the Family episode has an additional scene that wasn't adapted in the live remake. In both the original and the remake, Archie tries to mock George Jefferson by claiming that the flower on his lapel is a joke squirting flower to which the insulted George lets Archie know the flower is genuine. The scene at the end of the original episode has Gloria and Mike going to the movies and Mike shows Archie that he's been inspired by George to also wear a flower on his lapel. Except Mike is actually wearing a joke squirting flower and after being insulted by Archie, Mike sprays him in the face.
Jackee Harry, who plays Diane, was featured in the series "227" starring Marla Gibbs, who played maid Florence in the original "The Jeffersons" series.
Since they adhered to the original scripts, the short jokes used on George were retained despite Jamie Foxx being one of the taller members of the cast.
In the original series, when George would walk on Bentley's back Sherman Hemsley could do it unassisted. In this performance, Jamie Foxx needed Wanda Sykes to stabilize him, probably because he is much taller.
Woody Harrelson is 10 years older than Carroll O'Connor was when he first played Archie Bunker. Jamie Foxx is 17 years older than Sherman Helmsley was when he first played George Jefferson.
