Learn more- Educational show designed to interest kids in science. The Right Honourable Piers Blister is the Minister for Science and Things, although he has absolutely no idea about science at all and is totally inept at his job. Luckily for him, he has a secret passageway behind the bookshelf in his office that leads down into the London Underground to an abandoned station that has been converted into a science laboratory. Here his trusty advisors, Lester, Professor Shackleton and Lavinia (Blister's love interest) beaver away, working on things that are "seriously scientific", and feeding Blister enough information to be able to bluff his way through his job. Nobody suspects, apart from his suspicious handyman, Ferret. This programme ran for two series, the second introducing another advisor, Terri, and Blister's mother, Euphemia. Other characters are present as observers to the storyline. These periphery characters include the highly intelligent Ratty (a bald rat) and his compadre - a Brummy frog, Mavis and Betty (two flies on the wall), a Mexican talking fish, and the bust of Blister's Grandfather. The storyline is entertaining, and integrates the science elements seamlessly. The show is deeply educational, and sometimes quite technical, but it is always entertaining with the theory behind the science explained clearly.
