The Battersea Power Station is also known from the iconic cover of the Pink Floyd album "Animals" (1977)
The pose that the three police officers strike at the end mimics those of the Three Wise Monkeys. Brian half covers his eyes, showing that he is the monkey who saw no evil, Gerry covers his ears, showing that he is the monkey who heard no evil, and Jack covers his mouth, showing that he is the monkey who spoke no evil.
Dennis Waterman is re-united with two former co-stars; Jan Francis from Stay Lucky (1989), and, most famously, George Cole from Minder (1979). Waterman also sang the themes for both these shows as well as that for "New Tricks".
The Battersea Power Station, featured in this episode, was finally decommissioned in 1983, meaning that when this episode aired, the Station was sitting empty. It wasn't until 2012 that a viable plan to renovate and re-purpose the building and the land around it became operational. It is now a mixed-use property containing homes and businesses.
