Excellent end to an excellent series

I've thoroughly enjoyed Series 4 of Peep Show but the final episode was really something! Mark's wedding day has finally arrived and he still hasn't broken up with Sophie, his wife to be. Jeremy confesses that he kissed Sophie and Mark thinks it would be the way to break up with her. But unsurprisingly, it doesn't work out. Will Mark finally go through with the wedding or not? A fantastic end to a brilliant series. David Mitchell and Robert Webb are great actors but I think they really gave it their all in this episode. And credit needs to be given out to Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong for coming up with a great finale to Series 4.

Warning: Spoilers
I don't think I have ever laughed at a TV show as much as the last episode of Peep Show 4 - I honestly nearly passed out from laughing - twice - the characters are flawless - from Superhands puking to the Church Pi** up - you have to see it.

Over the 4 series the situations have become more absurd and uncomfortable but always hilarious.A kind of 'Britsh Curb your Enthusiasm' but without the over the top mugging that Larry David can be prone to. At first the pov camera was a bit distracting and 'in your face' but the more you watch the more it becomes natural.

It will be a pity if this is the last of Peep Show - let's hope they don't sell out any more - The PC + Mac ads look like the thin edge of a veeery thick wedge.

Season 4: Short, punchy and very funny
bob the moo3 November 2013
This season of Peep Show sees Mark mostly struggling with the idea that he will now marry Sophie but yet unable to confront that fact and deal with it. This leads to a season which is memorable for how awkwardly funny it is throughout, whether it is a wedding, a BBQ on a barge, a man hiding in a wardrobe watching a cleaner, it is all very well observed comedy which is driven from the inside of the characters. It is an effective tool, the internal narration, and it continues here because the characters are well formed and act in line with what we expect them to do – Jeremy being quite selfish while Mark is constantly painfully embarrassed and annoyed by the intrusion of life into that private shame.

As before the season is only 6 episodes long, with the episodes not even reaching 30 minutes in length but more than ever here it felt very short. Each episode is very strong; sticking to the thread of the season but at the same time being self-contained in the most part. They are also all very funny indeed and very tightly scripted so that there is not really a weak aspect to the season – make it flow well and feel too short. The cast are strong as ever. Mitchell remains my favorite but Webb is also very good and they are seamless in their relationship. Colman is on the edge of the joke but is always welcome, while support is good from King, Joseph, Winkleman, Blanchard and others.

It is consistent, awkward and very funny throughout the short season. A very strong season of this show which does what it does very well.
