Alex tells Henry in their emotionally charged scene at Kensington palace, that "He would never leave this room, if he didn't think there was any hope of holding on to the happiness he's found with Henry". But this is a double negative, and in fact conveys the exact opposite of what Alex actually means. Parsing the double negative, the statement comes out meaning that He would leave the room if he thought there was any hope .
