There's only one review at time of writing, telling all the story with major spoilers and no warning. Otherwise very little information on IMDB. Here's my brief take.

It's all about one character, an old woman living alone in rural Russia and the performance (probably by Elena Susanina) is outstanding - I'd say Oscar-worthy, given some of the folk who win those nowadays.

There's no feel-good here. It's very sad in places and I found it a difficult watch, but everything around that main character is competently done, and it's well worth watching for a reminder that there is still some great acting out there and, I imagine, for an authentic glimpse of harsh modern life in rural Russia.

Warning: Spoilers
Porozhin is a Russian village, like many others. One its people, an old woman, preserving the memory of his late husband, being happy when her daughter and granddaughter visits her, having need of a little pig in a sort of version of Pig story by Ion Creanga , punishing the killers of her granddaughter in a manner remembering The Virgin Spring by Ingmar Bergman , having the chance than a rich man being very generous with her. A film about Russia more than about a venerable woman. Beautiful in a sense than only by the Easterns can be understand, maybe defined. A story with mythical embroideries about lonely life, survive, injustice and a form of profound peace. Maybe, an useful testimony. Sure, a beautiful film.
