- It's a Saturday morning and Jacko puts an advert in the local shop to announce his lost dog. With his friends they head to Grange Hill, to search for the animal. It's also the day of the athletics, and Mike has decided to take part after all. Just what was delivered to Rod the caretaker on Saturday morning? A pile of boxes is stacked up in the caretaker's office, with Trevor's help. Georgina has to cancel the double date, so Aichaa has to go with Robbie on her own. At school, Rod is not the only one in, Mrs. McClusky and Mr. Humphries are having a meeting to discuss cuts. Creeping around the corridor, Brian, Jacko and Locko overhear them discussing staff dismissals. They also overhear Rod speaking to his bookmaker about a dog, and misunderstand his intent, thinking that he might be hiding Jacko's dog. While they are searching the caretaker's room, Rod locks them in. In their attempt to escape they break some of the boxes, and find eggs inside. They escape out the window, with some difficulty, and damage to the boxes. At the racetrack, as Mike prepares to run, he asks his dad if he can stop the press photographers. Mike wins the race, but to his annoyance, photos are taken, and he's in a very thoughtful and uncommunicative mood for the rest of his afternoon with Georgina. Rod discovers the mess inside his office, and thinks it must have been Trevor's fault. Finally, Mike explains what happened in the pub brawl - that he accidentally kicked the man who had already been knocked to the floor, and now that man is in a coma. Robbie walks Aichaa home and goes inside to meet with her father. To her, and her little brother's surprise, Mr. Rashim invites Robbie to have a meal with them. Life with the Pearsons seems to have reached a new low, with the food in the shared kitchen taken by another tenant - Matthew's mother breaks down in tears. She goes to get some fish and chips, and Matthew sends his sister off after her so that he has the flat to himself. Shortly afterwards, he tears off down the stairs, and halfway down, sets off the fire alarm. When his mother and sister come back, they find a chaotic situation of fire engines and police cars outside the flats, with smoke pouring out of their window, and no sign of Matthew...—Geffers
