The outfit Joey wears on his Vegas adventure - light blue pinstripe suit, straw pork-pie hat - is a tribute to the '70s "traveling outfit" worn by Darren McGavin on the TV series, "The Night Stalker."
The title refers to slipping away without saying goodbye at the end of a social event. This seems an appropriate descriptor for the last episode in this unassuming series, a charming and well executed comedy which came and went without much fuss in the noisy media landscape of 2019.
This finale bookends the pilot story which began with Lawrence leaving the seminary and moving back home. In this he leaves home to move in with his girlfriend and resume college.
In the original plan for this story it would be revealed that -- in addition to being older -- Fiona has a daughter Timmy's age, creating complications for season two as Lawrence deals with being a surrogate dad and the Clearys bring a girl into their fold.
